Welcome to the CDG Single Player Demogame Embassy

CDG is in the beginning stages of getting a new democracy game going and we are establishing this embassy in hopes of increasing the communication between our two games and improving the overall enjoyment and success of both games.

The game will be played using Civ Conquests and we are in the early stages of setting up the game. At this point, we are still determining which nation we will play and which settings we will use, and since we think this might be the first single player democracy game using Conquests, we're rather excited about it.

We are also in the process of redesigning the forums currently used for the demogame, which should be done in the next week or so, but for the time being, feel free to stop by our Temporary Forum. Come in, look around, join up if you like, or simply just brag about how much better it is over here. :)

If nothing else, perhaps this thread can turn into a friendly bragging block for our mutual sites. :D

Yup, I've been keeping track of it (alittle bit), seems like it's going to be nice. Maybe once summer hits and I've got more free time I'll be active in it, but right now I'll just stick to modding my MP forums.

The citizens of Cidigia are please to announce that we have established a very unique form of government for our nation.

At the center will be the Archon who, together with his/her Executive Council shall have authority over the capitol and all nationally controlled units. The nation itself will be divided into a number of republics, each governed by a regional Magistrate that will have absolute authority over the cities within his/her border and all units produced by those cities.

We are currently in the process of ratifying our constitution and if all goes well, we expect to begin nominations by the end of the week.

We invite all our friends at CFC to come witness (and participate in, if you like) the birth of a very unique demogame experience.

Constitutional Convention Taking Place in Cidigia!

Dianaton (CNN) -- The recent growth of our nation has spawned a discussion amongst the electorate concerning the soon to be recognized Republics of the Empire. At stake are the rights and authorities of the local Magistrates versus the authority of the central government.

It has been a foregone conclusion that the local Magistrates will have complete control over the structure of their local governments (including the number of advisors, if any, etc.), but sources within the Archon's office have recently confirmed to CNN that those Magistrates will also be given complete autonomy over the production of their cities and the units they produce.

What has developed is a classic battle between those favoring a strong centralized government and those in favor of spreading that authority to the more local levels of government. Under the current proposal, control of the local military resources will likely remain the responsibilities of the local Magistrates, even during times of war.

Other sources have also confirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense is arguing for the right to draft units in times of war, but it seems that even if this measure passes, the number of units in question will be limited and that the local Magistrates will be permitted to designate certain units as defenders of their republics and retain command of them throughout the conflict.

Just the other day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that there are plans for 4 initial republics. We have already established two of the capitol cities, and we have been told that plans are in force that will expedite the establishment of the remaining two cities. So, we, like the rest of Cidigia, will conitnue to eagerly await the long-anticipated announcement from the Archon, opening the election process for our republics.

Term 3 Elections Loom as Cidigia Emerges from Second Successful War!

Dianaton (CNN) -- Although the official word has not been released, citizens throughout the empire are eagerly awaiting confirmation that a peace deal has been struck with the Hittites in the north. The War of Hittite Aggression has been a costly one, for both sides, but our sources have informed us that they are willing to cede 2 of their cities to us in exchange for a return to peaceful relations.

Meanwhile, there seems to be much excitement coming from the soothsayers in the capitol these days. It seems they've very nearly concluded the details on a new form of government, something they call Monarchy, that will operate with much improved efficiency over our current despotic form of government.

Additionally, workers continue to erect what will easily be the largest building in Cidigia once it is completed. This structure will house various collections of literature and art and will surely be a wondrous attraction for all the world to see. Once completed, it will become the second such great wonder in our capitol - the first being the Statue of Zeus which has already proved beneficial in the War of Hittite Aggression.

Nominations have opened for not only the central government positions, but also for each of the Magistrates of the four republics. The Magistrates are a relatively new position in our government, but they have proven to be a rich and beneficial addition to the demogame.

Already we have made demogame history when Magistrate von Clausewitz offered to share the potential bounty with another Magistrate if he would only join him in his vote for war. Not only did the motion pass, but we have since seen a number of other such examples of cooperation between the republics.

In lighter news, the Republic of Cumbria has offered a free pint of whatever you're drinking to all travelers that pass through her lands, and the Department of Internal Affairs, Bureau of Tourism has waived all taxes on roadside taverns and lodgings around Dianaton for the duration of our election period. There has never been a better time to visit the kingdom.
