Well someone had to start it... :mischief:

Use this thread for all discussions of the greatest game of all! Whether it is the upcoming Australia/South Africs tests, the ongoing India/West Indies test or just your local indoor cricket adventures (we're coming 4th thank you very much for asking ;)).

So, anyone actually think South Africa will pick two spinners? Can't believe the best fast bowling country on earth with the best fast bowling wickets could be serious in this suggestion?

Well, I doubt that's a South African suggestion so much as a Harris suggestion. When I first saw the headline I thought, "WTF, why would Ryan Harris be wanting more spinners played?"

Indoor cricket- dangerous game! I gave it up after I was knocked out in the final two years in a row. One was friendly fire.

I am pretty psyched that we are getting a couple of tour matches in Canberra as well as the PM's XI. Hopefully Tendulkar plays in one of them.

We need moar top level sport in Canberra. It's the curse of being ALMOST big enough to support major sporting events but not quite. Also the lack of corporate money in a govvie town probably hurts us versus, say, the Gold Coast.

Hopefully we'll get a T-20 franchise (BRING BACK THE COMETS) and then after some Manuka upgrades, the occasional test match.

Speaking of which: how naff are the new T-20 teams? Guess I'll be supporting the pink team playing at the SCG?

I have dislocated a finger and broken a bone in my hand over my time.

Manuka is a beautiful oval (my sister used to live in Canberra and I've been to AFL and cricket games there), should be more cricket on there for sure.

Yep, it is. Needs moar AFL too, but that's a subject for a different thread (three Giants games a year from now on!)

Well since there is only one big bash team from WA, I think I will be supporting them. But it will be interesting to watch how the divided teams do. BTW, how many people have Foxtel? I ask because if you do, then I want to see what people opinions are of the ads for the new Big Bash.

Although I'm not much of a fan of t20 I'm gonna stay local in supporting QLD for the win. We're doing well in the Shield and One day competition at the moment as well (with a quite depleted side at that).

Also in other news the West Indies have just forced a collapse of the Indian batting line up after a strong start. Looking like it could be a good match up.

Tendulkar falls just short of his 100th international century again.

I guess 15,000 test runs will make up for that a bit.

I am so sad our Tendulkar didn't get that hundred. Now he will play for another 10 years for that elusive 100th century. Good bye to youngsters getting some openings.

I've decided if we don't pick Siddle, I'm supporting the South Africans. Copeland has been unconvincing at best in his tests so far, and Cummins hasn't even proven himself at first class level.

Eh, I'm sure Tendulkar will manage to get his 100th versus Australia or something.

Perhaps even better would be if they picked both Siddle and Copeland.

Or maybe I just don't like Johnson.

Johnson has this series to prove he deserves to play at test level. He should've been dropped ages ago, but since he performed so well last time he was in South Africa, I don't mind him having one last chance.

Speaking of last chances, surely Haddin and Ponting must be down to their last chances as well. Khawaja and Wade are putting a bucketload of pressure on them to perform, and neither Haddin nor Ponting has done so in recent memory.

Indeed luckily Clarke turned things around. Will be interesting to see how Australia bowls on this pitch. 250 seems a solid first innings score on this pitch.

I reckon we'll see Matthew Wade back into the side before Tim Paine. By the time Paine recovers from injury and gets back into form Wade will probably have forced himself into the side with strong batting and keeping form so far in domestic cricket.

I can't believe they are sticking with Haddin this long. Hopefully they will bite the bullet and drop him for the summer series, blood Tim Paine now.

I'd say Wade's pretty much gone ahead of Paine. Not that Paine has done anything wrong, but Wade's batting is almost good enough itself to deserve a spot as a specialist batsman, and is as good a keeper as Paine.

That innings surely silences the doubters on Clarke. Brilliant stuff.

Australia are dominating at the moment against South Africa. Clarke and the tail added some valuable runs and Watson has just picked up 4 wickets to have South Africa reeling.

Jeez I've slagged off the choice of Clarke and Watto for the captaincy positions but they can play a bit.

I might have written us off a bit prematurely here.

Wish it was on free to air.

Edit: Christ and that's Watto's fifth. 5 wickets off about 20 balls, that's gotta be some kind of record. 7/77 all up.

My god, 8 down and the Saffers still need 3 runs to avoid the follow on.
