Long story short, I remember playing Civ V with a friend when it first came out (and having desync errors), but now when I've tried to play with him again (praying that the patches have fixed things) I find that we get as far as the loading screen (where our respective leaders are displayed) and then both of us get a "stopped responding" error.
Notably, steam does not crash or anything, its just Civ.
Not really sure whats going on here...
Also, I sort of get that multiplayer may not be their focus (and thus may be somewhat tacked on) but still, how is it possible that a turn based game like Civ 4* or Civ 5 can have so many desync problems, and even given that, why does it handle desyncing SO BADLY? Why can't it recover?
*We had a similar record with Civ 4: it worked at first, then when we decided to get back into it later on, it started desyncing every time and we just gave up after a while.
