At last, what we've all been waiting for...a thread for us to discuss the wonders of condiements, such as Mustard, Catsup, Steak Sauce, BBQ Sauce, Horseradish Sauce, Salsa, etc etc.

What are you favorite Condiments? What do you use them for? Do you put a specific condiment on something that other people typically do not (like, I dunno, salsa on hot dogs or something). What is the most underrated Condiment?

For example, as I was making myself lunch this afternoon before work, it hit me how underrated and delicious brown stadium mustard is. Typical classic yellow mustard, which I guess is the most common stuff on burgers and hot dogs around here, is so bland when compared to the spicy, powerful flavor that is the stadium mustard. Its half of the reason I go to minor league baseball games!

Spicy braut mustard! Ketchup is nasty on anything but hotdogs and burgers, don't like mayonase, and bbq makes everything better
 
Well ketchup is a given, but only if it's Heinz.

Mustard is good, any form -- regular to horseradish.

Steak sauce: A1. Heinz needs to stick to ketchup.

Beyond that... nothing consistent, just whatever fits the mood.

I'm finding myself disliking ketchup more and more. As a little kid, I used to eat it on almost everything, but now I'm finding it just kinda dulls the taste of whatever i'm eating it with. I'm with Whomp...I'll never eat Ketchup on a hot dog again.
 
Ketchup is good for fries, hotdogs and hamburgers.
Mustard, real mustard, is needed for nice pieces of meat (and what is called French mustard in the US is neither French nor mustard:

For raw fish and rolls, nuoc-mam.
For fishes, mayonnaise, particularly with Tuna.
 
I am apparently the only person here who asks for sandwiches with honey mustard, yellow mustard, and Gulden's mustard. I think one needs all three for a balanced sandwich.

I also prefer vinegar-based barbeque sauce for pork, although some mustard is good mixed in with that, too; I suppose it's a sort of compromise between Mississippi and South Carolina style (although I've never been to either state).

Steak is to be eaten without sauce, although A1 is a necessary ingredient for hamburgers.

Hot dogs require mustard and relish of some sort; whole pickles are okay, too (well, I guess they'd have to be slices), they can belong on any sandwich.

Ketchup is not to be used. Not on burgers, not on fries, not at all.

I'm with Whomp...I'll never eat Ketchup on a hot dog again.

Hot Sauce: Pico Pica, followed by Tapatio
Barbecue sauce: Sweet Baby Ray's
Pickles: Dill. NEVER SWEET.
Sauerkraut: What, are you INSANE?
Bratwurst: grilled onions and bell peppers mmmmmmm...
Mustard: Dijon is too elitist
Ketchup: Ketchup is for the lowly proles
Worcestershire: My mom used to drink it by the spoonful
Hot Dogs: NEVER....EVER....EVER put ketchup on a hotdog. This is taboo!
 
I'm with ceasar: Sauce on steak is blasphamey to the cook, unless it is a really bad steak, which, to me, is anything more than medium rare and without some red peppers. Certain ketchups go good with fries though.

And don't snort crushed wasabi >.< just...don't
 
Hershey's chocolate syrup works great IMO.
 
Despite the fact that it makes baby downtown, baby Irish Caesar, and springing-fully-formed-from-the-forehead-of-Thunderfall Whomp cry, I eat hot dogs with ketchup. Or did, back when I ate hot dogs.

One thing I like: Tapatio. Popular Mexican hot sauce. I learned on my mission that if necessary it will, in sufficient quantities, kill the taste of any disgusting thing that politeness requires you to eat.
