Desert Mountain... Never thought of that.. Even the tooltip shows just mountain. Will try F10.

Absolutely no desert tiles to work... most ridiculous situation to build Petra!!

Early wonders went SUPER EARLY in my game, I saw GL at turn 20 so I wasn't even gonna try for anything

The vote was on turn 256, but I got the message on t257. I think that counts for 256? Not that I'm winning any races or anything.

I did not plant any Great Scientists this game, and I think I may completely stop planting them in the future, barring a free GS from Liberty or the Maya or something. Having 9 GS saved up for end game bulbing felt like it was miles better than my usual strategy of planting about 3 for academies.

This rounds out the victory conditions, so I now have at least one of each VC on the Deity challenges.

    Spoiler :
I settled in the same place as everyone else, and decided to go only 4 cities after Morocco dropped one in the western desert area. I considered building a fifth post-NC up towards Venice, but decided I didn't want to take the happiness risk. As it turned out, I had tons of happiness all game, so I should have built one or maybe even two more cities. I was tempted to put 2 points in Aesthetics just so I could get the happiness --> culture policy, but decided Patronage and Rationalism were more important.

I managed to get a religion, Desert Folklore, Tithe, +2 happiness from gardens (all cities eligible), +15% growth when at peace (no wars entire game), Religious Texts. I used my third GP to convert my other cities back from rival religions, and he sat around with 1 use remaining until the rest of the game just in case someone tried to convert my capital. I ended up with 5700 faith extra, so I probably should have bought some Great Scientists to finish more quickly.

I went 4 city NC, then Civil Service, then Workshops, then managed to get Notre Dame before I hit Education. Notre Dame always goes really early in my Deity games so I was really surprised it was still available. I entered the Renaissance through Astronomy because I had 3 mountain cities, then went towards Banking because I was planning on Diplo. The Forbidden Palace was built before I could start it, but I did manage to get the Porcelain Tower and started cranking research agreements. For most of the game I had 3-4 RAs going, so the PT was doing really well for me. I went 6 Tradition, 2 Patronage, 3 Rationalism, then 3 Freedom (first to Ideology). I built the Eiffel Tower because I had burned most of my GW and GA so far, so I needed some happiness and tourism.

After the specialist happiness tenet in Freedom, I finished Rationalism since I had so many RAs going and I wanted to boost them. I then put another point in Patronage for science from allies since I was starting to accumulate city-states. I opened Commerce for Big Ben and put in a few more Freedom tenets because I had nothing better to do.

After finishing Plastics and the Statue of Liberty, I ran every specialist available and started bulbing. I bulbed up to Satellites for the Hubble, then bulbed up the Globalism for the extra votes. Venice had eaten a few city-states, so to get the last vote I had to build the National Intelligence Agency for the last spy. I had to move my level 3 spy out of the capital, thus opening it up to tech theft, but I was absurdly far ahead of the rest of the world. I think I was 24 techs ahead the Shoshone or something ridiculous.

At the time I didn't think Diplo victory was possible because of Venice, so I played it sfe and made Science a backup condition. However, if I had done the math and realized Diplo was still possible, I didn't really need to go for the Hubble. You can see from my tech progress that it's way overkill for a Diplo victory, so I should have just skipped research labs and bulbed 8 turns after the Statue of Liberty completion. With 3 GS bought from faith, it would have easily been enough for Globalization.

I have played many of the Civ games and I play Civ V BNW from time to time and after awhile I just shelf the game since it gets kinda boring for me. I stumbled onto these games here and thought I would play a few out. I started with this one as Russia and am not sure if I will finish it since it seems the game is over and the land was highly unusual compared to most of my games being that this is one of the easier maps I have seen.

I decided to play a Liberty game and build the Pyramids before expanding. I stole something like 5 workers from some Civs and CS's. So I had 7 or so workers very early which was nice for improvements and some pillage repair / worker bait.

I had 4 expos along with Moscow which is 5 total cities and I took one of Hiawathas cities that I puppeted for some time before annexing. I took down a few of Shoshones cities and sold them to Venice and I rolled onto Shoshones Capital while Shaka does what he does to most of the other Civs.

The game did not feel like Deity but sometimes I notice that it can be easier at times. I just rolled along and since Venice had some nice Wonders I decided to get greedy and take out his Capital and sell the cities I sold him to India.

I had a strange game for me as far as Social Policies. I guess my CPT was very high too early and I ended up not timing Rationalism very well so I had to take a few points into Honor and Opened Commerce which isn't so bad I suppose since I am getting GGs faster and XP for my units and I was able to build Big Ben. I think I Oxforded Radio around turn 176 or 177 and decided to go with Order since this is Russia after all!

I suppose I can finish but it seems like a chore at this point.

Finished it for some fun using many units to capture the capitals but Nukes, Xcoms, RAs and SBs win the day!

Well i lost this game... i got petra but looks like having an insane city isnt enough.

the jump to deity is really hard, war wise it's so hard to defend, even with a decent military, bribes and good defensive city places...
the shoshone's hordes ed me, now i know that gunpowder is a really key technology in deity, fightning guns with swords, pikes and Xbows doesnt work xD

well maybe i'll give this another try, but without the greedy 6 city tradition i made here.

well started the incas one, hope it wont end up the same way, cities are even easier to defend i think but dunno if it's enough.

    Spoiler :
Obviously, it can probably be done at least 50 turns faster, but I suck.
I teched into Renaissance via Acoustics and got Sistine, so I thought I was going to go CV. Then Pocatello attacked me. He hated me all game. I was one turn from losing cap before I managed to make peace.

After that, by the time I got to Archaeology and started getting Archys out there weren't many sites left so I had to ditch the CV plan. DV was not an option with Venice buying up 4 city states, and Shaka and Pocatello killing some more.

So it was the tested and true Satellites -> Nanotech -> Advanced Ballistics -> Particle Physics (is that the correct tech order?) with Freedom. I suck, so I only managed to buy 3 spaceship parts and had to hard build the other 3.

Nothing too special here. 6C Liberty, turtled until Combined Arms (~T190), then built/bought 20 tanks and conquered. Once again could have ended sooner, I think, if my strategy was better. Also, I found out that if you switch Ideology Clausewitz's Legacy stays active (as does Lightning Warfare as it grants a promo to armor units when you select it--doesn't work for general movement increase however).

Well it seems there is a successful cultural victory for my every failed domination attempt
Anyway, this is a very strong start and things went well, although I had a few frustrating moments, like when Ghandi built Uffizi or Zulu got aircrafts right when I was going to liberate the Shoshone with mine for a faster DiploV... But the archeologist spam never went so well before for me, thanks for all the extra hammers Russia has!!
One more victory and I'm on the list, yay! DCL are so much fun, thank you guys for the hard work of keeping it up!

    Spoiler :

My two poor GMs making their way to Byzantium and India through swamps. Touring is hard, guys!

After my best start ever (hit Education by T94 and had built Oracle in the 70s) game just petered out. Made a mistake in going Patronage as I had intended to play Freedom. By the time I realized the mistake it was far too late so had to pay more for parts. But wasn't cash that kept me from a much earlier win it was lack of culture and low beakers. I cannot seem to figure out how to get my beakers above 1000 so that scientists can bulb the late game techs. I am sure it has to do with pop but had three food caravans going to Moscow and still could only hit 31 pop in the capital. Oh well a win is a win-was hoping the end would be strong even with the error in policies.

    Spoiler :

Probably the best starting dirt I've ever seen since I started deity. Pretty sure I can beat my time if I had to replay the map. Found LV early and beat Hiawatha to settle St. Petersburg on it.
    Picked up DF pantheon.

3 city tradition NC, added a 4th north of Moscow. Standard rationalism + aesthetic + freedom CV. Had to block Shaka from settling near me but he did anyway and coveted my land, so I had to spend gold to bribe him from time to time when he is at peace with Shoshone.
Around same time, Shaka invited me to war with Shoshone and I did and liberated Belgrade which provided my troops for rest of the game. I did not take any other cities. Those would remain at war with each other for almost the entire game. Also keeps Shaka from attacking me.

I also kept Florence for most of the game until near the end when Venice use his MoV because I forgot to block his MoV with my units after they cleared a late game barb camp.

DoF with every civ except for Shaka and Poca, lots of RA. Super peaceful game except for wars between Shaka or Poca.

T63 Petra, 3 city NC few turns after
    T86 Oracle
    T91 Borobudur
    T119 Sistine
T139 LToP, took GPr from it for some CS quest and enhanced religion
    T148 PT
    T182 ET
    T187 Louvre
    T196 SoL
T214 Sydney OH (with GE in Rostov)

Religion was DF + Tithe + DI + Swords into Plow. Spread my religion to Shaka and Poca until Hiawatha converted some cities to his.

Pretty easy game due to strong start. Theodora was the only one with strong culture and easily solved by 3 GM.
First successful CV in the DCL series for me.

    T 202 Diplomatic Victory

I wanted to try a fast Diplo Win using Order (inspired by the discussions in this tread.

    Spoiler :
I did choose an easy map, and this win is not fast at all (I know I could have saved at least 8 turns because I ended up with one extra scientist when researching Telecommunications and never even used Rationalism Finisher for it, I used the finisher for Globalization).
Also another cheesy element is that I had knowledge of the map (I did not remember all the things about the map, but I did recall some things, like the fact that I had LV south of the capital).

I find it really hard to time Printing Press accordingly. In my game I delayed it a lot (got it on turn 127 I think). I did research Banking, Astronomy, and even Acoustics before Printing Press. In hindsight, Banking did not need to be beelined, the extra votes from the FP were nice but did not change the outcome of the game. And Acoustics was just so I would further delay Printing Press. If I had known better I would have probably entered Renaissance with Astronomy, then beeline Printing Press. I most likely would have gotten LToP (which I actually missed by 3 turns).

I did some other mistakes, like Pledging to Protect some city states when meeting them. Prague for example was bullied by both Shoshone, and Zulu, and I did not want to lose the influence so I messed up my relationships with them. Zulu eventually forgot it and became friendly, but the Shoshone were cold the whole game. I had to use bribes 4 times to avoid war with them (some were quite expensive). I would probably carefully consider who to pledge and when to do it from now on.

Another mistake was beelining Railroad after Electricity (got Radio with Oxford). After I had already gotten 3 tech outside the path (Metallurgy, Military Science and Fertilizer), I realized I cannot do get to Info Era in time so I immediately switched to Plastics and then Telecommunications, this was not such a big deal (and Fertilizer probably helped) because of the late Printing Press, but if I do time Printing Press better, I would need to keep in mind that at least Plastics should be researched before trying for Railroad.

Other than that, the game was quite smooth, I leveled up my spy, and then used it
for coups to get influence switching between CSs, and using money to help my chances of coups. I proposed World Fair on the first council, then World Ideology the second, both successful. I maintained friendship relations the whole game with Venice, India, Byzantium, and Iroquois (in the beginning I also had a DoF with Morocco). Also had some RAs but most of them were a waste since they did not net much science.

I only had 3 policies in Order (including the free ones): Skyscrapers, Double Agents (almost useless, my spy leveled up only once and there were at least three other successful steals from me) and of course Worker's Faculties.

I don't know how to get to level 3 tenets in time. I had 3 SPs in Patronage (got Scholasticism after I already had Free Thought and Worker's Faculties), finished Rationalism and then I used my free policy from Kremlin on commerce opener (it was already after Telecommunications, and I just wanted the extra money just in case). I could have gotten SOH but that would also have been post Telecommunications. I even won the World Fair and certainly got 2-3 extra policies for it. I also had Oracle so that is another extra SP

But even if I had tried it, I would probably would have been one SP short for getting Spaceflight Pioneers, or got it after Telecommunications so the extra Scientist and Engineer would come too late to matter.

I know that there were only 2 cultural CSs on the map, and I probably wasted my first GW by creating a Great Work. Maybe that was the cause of the low culture output. But even so, I can say that Order helped with the little extra science (it isn't really 25% because I had Observatories in all the cities) and faster Factories (so I could set them up right before World Fair). Also the reduction in price for rushing buildings was useful.

    T231 Domination Victory

Wanted to try something different; did an XCOM only domination victory - XCOMs were the only units to ever attack a capital, and I didn't attack anyone until I teched them. This was challenging for the final capital in the screenshot below, with only access to 3 land tiles (2 with a river crossing penalty), so having extra units I started also using the 4th adjacent Lake tile for attacks.

Built a late Petra on 79, Education on 98, Scientific Theory 148, Plastics on 177 (1 GS bulb) and bought 5/5 Labs immediately. Would have been a good game to lower my fastest SV! XCOMs shortly after 200 - no experience using them, so wasn't very efficient.

I only just learned this: XCOM w/ blitz can attack on the turn they land. I am looking forward to having a map where I can really exploit that! (But my games take 100 turns longer that yours.)

That's awesome, I want to try that! I was getting 3 promotions for those built/bought in my capital (Barracks, Armory, the wonder that includes a GG, and Military Academy), but realize now I should have built Alhambra.
