Kev is building a caravan in THDP to give us some much-needed trade. The list of cities that demand wine caravans are in the poll above, but before anyone votes I'd like to point out that we have no idea where Beijing or London are so sending a caravan there would be lucrative but we'd not see any benefits for ages. That's the trade-off basically. We can set up an internal route and benefit pretty much straightaway, or we can ferry the caravan over to Mongolia (or further afield if requested) and bag a bigger bonus but have to wait for it. Damn! I thought I'd be able to alliterate for much longer than that! Cast votes now!

Well this is a confusing situation...

It would probably be best to go for the most money but not if its going to take a long time to reach the city. So we need to find a compromise...

Well I've considered the options and finally cast my vote for Sixchan. It's not too distant so it's easy to reach by trireme, but it is across water so will have quite a nice multiplier to the trade. We will get it much sooner than other cities, and since it is producing 10 arrows we ought to get quite a good return for it.

I agree with duke.

International cities have a terrible habit of SAYING they need an item and then, when you can see the city, one finds that their needs have changed.

I like internal trade, and think that Sixchan is a great choice. Keep in mind that this will create TWO routes - the wine from THDP to Sixchan AND a route from Sixchan back to THDP.

The initial payoff may not be as much, but the increase in trade will have far reaching effects.

What would be the alternative if Sixchan changes its demand?

Well my thinking was that since Sixchan and Fort Pornstar aren't too far apart then either of these would be acceptable as back-up for the other. I just happen to prefer Sixchan. If not, then at least we are sending the caravan in the right direction and we can then direct it towards Mongolia as all their cities seem to demand it. One must still do by the time the caravan reaches it. I'd hope. Otherwise, we'd just have to send it into the largest city (rather, the one that looks like it'll have the most trade), curse a bit and then continue.

Agree duke. Fort Porn would be my second choice.

I'd still go with Sixchan as the first as it's on a different island and therefore can get the different-continent bonus.

While we do have THDP and FP connected by roads, recall they have to be the RIGHT roads - that is the path that the AI would follow on a goto command. All too often a tile or two may not be roaded and that is deemed by the AI to be the "correct" path.
