I've already said it before, we are already putting a price on sombebodys death, just by the very fact that we convict criminals who killed someone to a certain punishment.

We don't have any choice but to put a price on the death of the people who are murdered. Putting a price on the death of a victim of murder is similar to a price on the death of a victim of war. However, it is totally in our power to not put a price on the death of murderers as well. We can atleast reduce the occurance of something bad, if not stop it.

You were talking about serious criminals, stealing is not serious, unless it's enron style stealing. And yes, there are things like mitigating ecirumstances, lets say you were abused as a child, or maybe that person was you're husbend and beat you and raped you're children. On the other hand, we might have...lets say a knife fight between 2 idiots and one of the idiots ends up dead.
