The Epstein Files

Evidently, it's now possible to calculate what percentage of the whole yesterday's release represented, and it's .83%.

I can't verify the accuracy of the source for this, but if true, it makes yesterday's release even more laughable.

Release everything involving Clinton! Ok, less than 1%. Release the rest in 2-week increments! Ok, 4 years for release of all material.
Anyone in USA expected anything else? Really?

No. I expected even less. I expected that nothing would be released--on some bogus legal pretext that would keep the matter tied up in courts for years.

Edit: Now DoJ has yanked a file that was in the original release (because it does show Trump but they hadn't realized). I guess other files have been pulled from the website as well.

In going through some random pages from the released files,

[edit] The link goes to a pdf with 131 pages if documents. the pages I refer to below begin about page 60.

I came across court documents about the 2006 court case brought against Epstein, Haley Robson and Sarah Keller. Haley and Sarah were apparently in the same role as Maxwell as Epstein's recruiters and introduced two 14 year old girls (plaintiffs) to him. The documents go into details about the interactions. Finding this information was completely random and the result of just scrolling through a huge .pdf file of assorted stuff. I wonder though about the two recruiter women who worked for Epstein. What is their story?

At least 16 files have disappeared from DOJ webpage for Epstein documents since their release

Missing documents include image of a drawer containing photograph of Donald Trump

At least 16 files have disappeared from the U.S. Justice Department's public webpage for documents related to Jeffrey Epstein — including a photograph showing U.S. President Donald Trump — less than a day after they were posted, with no explanation from the government and no notice to the public.

The missing files, which were available Friday and no longer accessible Saturday, included images of paintings depicting nude women and one showing a series of photographs along a credenza and in drawers.

In that image, inside a drawer among other photos, was a photograph of Trump, alongside Epstein, Melania Trump and Epstein's longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

he Department of Justice (DOJ) did not say why the files were removed or whether their disappearance was intentional. A spokesperson for the department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Online, the unexplained missing files fuelled speculation about what was taken down and why the public was not notified, compounding long-standing intrigue about Epstein and the powerful figures who surrounded him.

In a post on X, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee pointed to the missing image featuring a Trump photo, writing: "What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public."

The disappearance of the photos has deepened concerns that emerged from the DOJ's much-anticipated document release.

The tens of thousands of pages made public Friday offered little new insight into Epstein's crimes or the prosecutorial decisions that allowed him to avoid serious federal charges for years, while omitting some of the most closely watched materials.

Scant new insight

Missing are FBI interviews with survivors and internal DOJ memos examining charging decisions — records that could have helped explain how investigators viewed the case and why Epstein was allowed in 2008 to plead guilty to a relatively minor state-level prostitution charge.

The gaps go further.

The records, required to be released under a recent law passed by Congress, barely reference several powerful figures long associated with Epstein, including Britain's former prince Andrew, renewing questions about who was scrutinized, who was not, and how much the disclosures truly advance public accountability.

Among the fresh nuggets: insight into the DOJ's decision to abandon an investigation into Epstein in the 2000s, which enabled him to plead guilty to that state-level charge, and a previously unseen 1996 complaint accusing Epstein of stealing photographs of children.

The releases so far have been heavy on images of Epstein's homes in New York City and the U.S. Virgin Islands, with some photos of celebrities and politicians.

The dates and context of many of the photos are unclear, and being named or pictured in the Epstein files doesn't, on its own, indicate misconduct or wrongdoing.

There was a series of never-before-seen photos of former president Bill Clinton but fleetingly few of Trump. Both have been associated with Epstein, but both have since disowned those friendships.

Neither has been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein and there was no indication the photos played a role in the criminal cases brought against him.

In a notice posted to the webpage for the documents, the DOJ said it made "reasonable efforts" to protect victims' identities, but acknowledged some details may have slipped through due to the volume of information involved.

The notice asks anyone who believes they have inadvertently been identified to contact the department.

Despite a Friday deadline set by Congress to make everything public, the DOJ said it plans to release records on a rolling basis. It blamed the delay on the time-consuming process of obscuring survivors' names and other identifying information.

The department has not given any notice when more records might arrive.

That approach angered some Epstein accusers and members of Congress who fought to pass the law that forced the department to act.

This is in fact less than nothing. They are manipulating the files for Trump's own benefit. Didn't the law specify the conditions of the files to be released (that would make such law a joke) or are they simply ignoring such conditions?

Now their going to use algorithms to analyze the distribution & resurgence of the distraction propaganda leverage end of year gifts. Theyll watch as all their shills & fake distractors grow fat with leftovers. There'll be new loyalties knowing their ham wasnt regifted. This far it seems only the bsartist formerly known as prince & the boogeyman itself will take blame.

Yes, that is well put. If they are only going to release portions at a time, then the material that is in each portion effectively forms a message. Let's say they do eventually release material involving Trump. "Well," they'll just say, "that doesn't mean anything; you've already seen that Clinton was Epstein's friend." They are using it for maximally advantageous messaging.

Additionally it sends a message Trump loves sending: that he can flout the law.

So yes, in several ways, this form of release is actually less than nothing.

In my view, the legal remedy should take a form analogous to financial receivership. Remove Bondi and install someone who will carry out the law.

This link is to a very long NYT article on how JE got rich.

This is the very end of the article:

Epstein’s pace of raping, abusing and trafficking girls and young women was accelerating. Ultimately, he would face accusations from hundreds of women. Little St. James was an ideal, out-of-the-way venue for his crimes.

But there was something else that was attractive about Little St. James. The U.S. Virgin Islands was an unusually welcoming place for Epstein to do business. The territory’s law enforcement and financial regulations were notoriously lax, its politicians acquiescent. And the islands had created a series of generous tax incentives to lure businesses from the mainland. Epstein applied for one of those breaks, which would enable his main company, Financial Trust, to avoid most taxes — a potential savings of tens of millions of dollars a year.

On a balmy afternoon in April 1999, Epstein appeared at a hearing before the Industrial Development Commission, which would consider (and ultimately approve) his application.

Epstein was “a gentleman of the highest integrity,” one of his bankers wrote in a letter vouching for him as he sought a tax break from the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1999.Credit...Dafydd Jones

To vouch for his character, Epstein had turned to Harry Loy Anderson Jr., the president of the Palm Beach National Bank & Trust Company, where Epstein had held accounts since the early 1990s. Anderson — whose daughter is now engaged to Donald Trump Jr. — wrote a letter stating that Epstein was “a gentleman of the highest integrity” and that he “enjoys an excellent reputation in our community.” (Epstein’s house manager later said in a deposition that he was using Anderson’s bank to pay some of Epstein’s victims.) The letter, not previously reported, was submitted to the development commission and was obtained by the journalist Wayne Barrett; we found it in his archives at the Briscoe Center for American History at the University of Texas, Austin.

In the hearing room, Epstein unspooled a fantastical version of his life story, according to a transcript of the meeting that we obtained from the U.S. Virgin Islands. He had willingly left a job at Bear Stearns to become “a financial doctor” to the wealthy. One of those clients, Wexner, had helped develop his “sense of integrity.” He’d later grown close to the Rockefeller family, advising them “on certain financial issues.”

By the end, the commission’s members and staff were eating out of his hands, joining the long list of people and institutions who, knowingly or not, would become Epstein’s enablers. One seemed to be fishing for stock tips. Others jostled for him to locate his company on their islands in the territory. Another asked if Epstein would consider teaching a course at the local university. “I’d love to,” Epstein replied. “As I said outside this room, I believe that the future of the Virgin Islands is really with the young people.”

And he thought he had something to teach them. One of his classroom priorities, he mused, would be to educate them on “the ethics of business — which is very difficult nowadays.”

It was quickly removed, but the latest file drop had a letter sent from Epstein to Larry Nassar (yep!) a week before Epstein’s death. It read in part:

"Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to 'grab snatch,' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system."

But wait...Trump had no idea that JE was abusing teen girls.

Flight records show Trump traveled on “at least eight” Epstein flights, assistant US attorney writes

From CNN’s Kara Fox
Flight records show Donald Trump “traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware),” an assistant US attorney from the Southern District of New York wrote in an email dated January 8, 2020.

Trump was listed as a passenger on “at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996, including at least four flights on which (Ghislaine) Maxwell was also present,” it reads.

On a flight in 1993, Trump and Epstein “are the only two listed passengers; on another, the only three passengers are Epstein, Trump, and then-20-year-old.”

“On two other flights, two of the passengers, respectively, were women who would be possible witnesses in a Maxwell case,” the assistant US attorney said in the email, which was sent during Trump’s first term.

The assistant US attorney added: “We’ve just finished reviewing the full records (more than 100 pages of very small script) and didn’t want any of this to be a surprise down the road.”

For context: Trump and Epstein have a long history together, and authorities have not accused Trump of criminal wrongdoing related to Epstein. The vast scope of the documents related to Epstein cite many individuals and being named does not in itself show criminal wrongdoing.

Trump has long tried to distance himself from Epstein. Trump has called him a “creep,” insisted he was “not a fan,” and said that before Epstein’s death, they hadn’t spoken in years. Yet a comprehensive CNN review of court records, photographs, interviews, and other public documents paints a portrait of an enduring relationship until the mid-2000s, when Trump says he broke it off. Trump now repeatedly downplays his past friendship with Epstein, even as new material continues to surface.

This is all “witness statement” level stuff but it’s extremely in line with everything we know about Trump.
I wonder how many others "committed suicide" or "disappeared" after going to the police........

Multiple people have said in police statements that they feared Epstein would have them killed if it got out, so the number is probably higher than we know.
