(I hope you dont mind be further defining my government without consulting you. I'm just defining as I see "aristocratic republic")
Although most legislative power was held in the aristocratic Senate, the lower house (House of Deputies) still held a large portion of power. The Prime Minister was the most senior member of the ruling party in the senate, as such the senate is considered the more powerful house. This system has lasted since the nation's independence in 1811, the senate was then denied access to Americans after the 1st civil war (though this was changed after the end of the 2nd civil war). Senate membership is still limited to those in the aristocracy.
The lower house was directly proportional to the size of the population; 1 seat per 5,000 people, creating 293 seats (Orginally per 1,000 it was upped to 2,000 in 1892 and 5,000 in 1913). Since the Prime Minister and government is decided by the upper house, the lower house need not require a majority coalition or party. There are approximatly 20 different parties in the lower house, with 3 strong coalitions. Represenatives are elected every 3 years.
Comparatively the Senate has a fixed number of seats, 50. 1 for each county of nation. While the lower house has direct representation given to political parties by the percentage of votes they recieve; the senate is much more personal. Each county elects 1 senator which represents them. Senators must be of aristocratic decent to be eligable. Senators are not above part politics, but the amount of parties is much less; there are only 5 compared to the 20 in the lower house. A majority is necissary to form a government in the senate. Senators are elected every 5 years.
Diego Ruiz Vega was the leader of the Floridian Socialismo Nacional Party. Although relatively small, they were a rising power in Floridian politics. Taking the example of the Nazi Party in Germany, Diego had founded and empowered Florida's own Soci party based on Nazi doctrine. He has worked with the established members of the Fascist Party and Falangist Party to from a strong nationalist alliance in Congress.
The Nationalist Alliance was the 3rd most powerful coalition in the lower house (composing of the above 3 parties). This is only after being in two elections (1931 and 1934). Pitching itself as anti-communist, anti-socialist, hyper-nationalist, and a supporter of a corporate economy the coalition was gaining popularity. Many of the Floridians were fearful of communists turning Florida into a totalitarian state like that of the USSA. At the same time the coalition reached across ethnic barriers, uniting Florida under common culture and history (though the Soci party was preaching racial superiority) and it was very popular among the 'dixies' and lower class spanish. The coalition blamed socialists for the cause of Florida's current economic woes and called out the capitalist ineptitude to fix the problem, and (under great pressure from the Soci party) united the dixies and spanish against the seminoles who they saw as working to undermine the economic position of lower class dixies and spanish as Seminoles were increasingly moving to industrial jobs as the agricultural market has been down since the late 1910s. They have also been popular amongst the middle classes who see the nationalists as their oppertunity to finally get out of the hole that is the great depression.
However in front of the National Alliance are the two coalitions which have basically controled Florida on and off for the past 40 years, the Conservatives (4 parties) and Socialists(3 parties). It was the Socialists who were in power at the time of the start of the great Depression, using this as their campaign, the conservatives have sucessfully held power since. The conservatives however have not been able to do much to improve the situation, and while the socialists say they have the answer not enough people are willing to let them try. Behind the 3 top coalitions are various parties which are unaffliated, some allied to eachother. The most powerful is the communist party, which in the current Congress of 1934 controls 17 seats (6%

; in comparison the National Alliance controls 46 seats (16%), the socialists control 85 seats (29%), and the conservatives 117 seats (40%). The other 9 parties in the lower house control the remaining 9%. The current lower house is considered to be
As a reult there is a current "control crisis" in the lower house. No coalition controls the majority, meaning the senate has near total control of power.
Meanwhile Senate politics are much more manigable. With only 4 parties (since a party requires at least 10% of the vote in the most recent general elections; doesnt count coalitions) the senate is split between: The Liberal Party, the Coservative Party, the Socialist Party, and the Democratic Party. Liberals value social progressivism and take a middle stance on economics (popular with all ethnics). The Socialists also believe in social progressivism, but through more economic means and redistribution of wealth (most strong with Seminoles). Conservatives believe in the status quo; that involves social rigidity and open markets (most strong with Spanish). The Democrats are in the middle of social progressivism, but value open markets and property (most strong with Dixies).
Usually democrats and conservatives form a coalition if possible and liberals and socialists will try the same. There have been times where odd coalitions have been forced, for example in the 1911 election the liberals and democrats made a coalition as they had half of required amount, they didnt have enough to make a coalition with their natural partners.
The current Senate of 1931 has 16 seats for democrats, 14 for conservatives, 11 for liberals and 9 for socialists. Since a government needs a majority they require 26 seats. The current coalition is between democrats and conservatives forming a 30 seat government coalition.
1936 is an election year for the senate and there is a surprise new party eligable. Soci recieved exactally 10.4% of the vote in the last election and can now run for senate. Many wonder who well it will do, and even if it will be able to gain a seat in the senate at all. This year's senate race may or may not be a forecast of next year's lower house election.
