After meeting with Napoleon III, Vice Foreign Minister Gueller boarded a train for California, conspicuously staying on the non-Texan side of the borders.

((OOC: Anyone wants to talk to him, and owns a territory he passes through, hop on it. Send me dat PMz))

Ok, starting work on the update now

The 1936 Senatorial Elections are in and here are the results:
Of the 50 seats:
-15 go to Democrats
-10 to Conservatives
-10 to Liberals
-8 to Socialists
-7 to the Soci party (National Socialists)

The Senate of 1936 will be inaugerated next month, and thenthe political process for a coalition will begin. In a stunning turn of events the Soci party has picked up 7 seats, 1 from socialists, 1 from democrats, 1 from liberals, and 4 from conservatives. This has created a precarious situation in which neither of the old parties can have a majority in government without betraying old values and their political platforms, meanwhile the Soci party offers an enticing alternative to form a 3 part coalition. The Soci party is expected to join the Conservative-Democrat Coalition which took over last election in 1931.

((We're doing this by four-year increments? I thought it was turn = month.))

AMERICAN NEWS REPORT

NORTHWEST TREATY CONCLUDED. Vancouver, Columbia. The sale of Northwest Territory, the northernmost province of the commonwealth to Alaska and New Europa was concluded. Alaskan forces immediately occupied their portion of the isolated region, while New European forces were halted by Canadian soldiers as discussed below. The first payments by New Europa and Columbia were successfully payed, though the final payments of New Europa may have been nullified by said Canadian action.

GENERAL SECRETARY BROWDER ANNOUNCES FIRST SEGMENT OF FIVE-YEAR PLAN. Chicago, USSA. The following few months have been announced to have a significant change in "American life and society". Following a plan proposed by Bolsheviks in their failed attempt to sieze Russia, a program of electrification and collectivization has been announced. Though electricity to all has met with widespread popularity, collectivization has met with heavy opposition by the farmers of the USSA, particularly in Indiana, Ohio, and the newly regained farmlands of Kansas-Nebraska. (+4% Dissent, -1 IC per turn from bitter farmers)

KANSAS-NEBRASKA RESTORED TO USSA. Chicago, USSA. Secretary Browder announced the annexation of Kansas-Nebraska by the United States of Socialist America, claiming that they were never truly independant and stole by "the unlawful Treaty of Boston". USSA military forces were unopposed in their invasion, and were welcomed by the city folk of the region. However the farmers of Kansas-Nebraska have occasionally violently resisted the collectivism and have been brutally put down by Socialist military forces.

USSA MOVES INTO FEDERATION OF TRIBES. Dakota, occupied Federation of Tribes. Socialist forces have advanced into the Federation of Tribes against minor resistance, mostly unorganized tribal groups. Most major cities have fallen, and the elected head government has surrendered. However, many tribes have refused to recognize the surrender and continue to fight on in rural regions of the nation.

NEW ENGLAND DECLARES STATE OF EMERGENCY. Boston, New England Confederacy. The President, guided by Senator Hawkings, has announced martial law due to "increased violence by communist elements". In addition the Reactionary Party has cracked down on all labor unions throughout the nation. Legislation passed by Hawkings' party has confirmed the Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Quebec, while also placing a price freeze on all locally produced goods. This has caused some minor dissent, though with the annexation of Kansas-Nebraska in violation of the Treaty of Boston many view these steps to "combat the growing Red Threat".

NEGRO REBELLION IN ARIZONA. Roswell, Arizona. Negro workers, from last month's revolt have managed to wipe out their local white overlords and have siezed effective control of the entire province of Arizona. With the help of white communists from the east coast cities of Texas and massive financing from foreign interests, the Negroes have gained not only small arms but heavy weapons including tanks and aircraft. The new People's Republic of Arizona has vowed to be a homeland for all Africans in the Americas. In addition the largest slave escape to ever occur in Texas has resulted in literally tens of thousands of freed slaves, causing chaos through the Republic. The President has been unavailable for comment.

COLUMBIA ANNOUNCES MAJOR HIGHWAY SYSTEM. Vancouver, Columbia. The commonwealth of Columbia has provided a considerable part of their ecconomy to constructing a modern roadway system throughout their nation. This system is the most developed highway system in the world with the single exception of the German autobahn. The effect on their economy from this has yet to be seen, though many say this will certainly help Columbians prevent major assualts on their borders by hostile nations. This should be completed by the end of the month.

CANADA MOVES INTO NORTHWEST TERRITORY. Ottowa, Canada. With the recent purchase of Northwest Province by New Europa, Canadian military forces have moved the Yukon Expeditionary Force onto the Norward Road, the main transport route provided by Columbia to New Europa. The force, part of the elite Rockies Division, has set up checkpoints throughout the area and have secured it from any movement by New European forces. The Prime Minister of Canada has stated that "Northwest Territory has always been rightfully Canadian and we will not tolerate an unlawful occupation by those who have no claim."

Cool update. What annoyed me a tad was that the map was wider than my screen, so that to read the update, I had to keep scrolling. Maybe you could spoilerize the map? Although that might be demanding >_>

COBRA II PUT INTO PRODUCTION
Army denies claims that it is just the Panzer II
The Cobra I Tank, developed by the Mexican army, has been rechristened the Cobra II. Official statements are that the design had far outstripped the expectations of the Cobra I, and thus the decision had been made that it was an entirely different tank. The first eighty Cobra IIs are expected to roll off the line in the coming months, to augment the Mexican Army in protecting our great nation from radical neighbors.

Prime Minister MacGregor sat in the bunker at Fort King George, which had been his headquarter for the past few weeks. The investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police had discovered that the four assassins who had attacked and killed Sam Walker, his political ally, confidante, and friend, had been staunch members of the Canadian Communist Party. The Mounties also suspected that the group had gotten funding and weapons from the USSA, though with no definite proof.

The attack had lead to drastic changes throughout the country. The Canadian Parliment, meeting a week after the attack, had passed two bills. The first was the Walker Act. It called for expansion of the country's factories, creating more necessary jobs and increased wages for all workers. The goal was to boost the Canadian economy, as well as instilling patriotism among the Canadian people, as well as improve bridges, roadways and railroads. The bill also called for a memorial park and statue to be built in Ottowa, named after Walker.
The second bill was the Emergency Powers Act, giving MacGregor far more range in what the Prime Minister was allowed to do to prevent any more vicious Communist attacks. His first action with the new powers had been to create the Royal Canadian Protection Force. Though the Mounties had done well investigating the attack, MacGregor and the Parliment felt that a policing force would be needed to make sure that any other potential insurgencts were quelled before they further harmed the country. Further, the act had allowed for additional funding numerous military technologies that had been met with opposition before the attack.
**********
Captain Jack Higgins pounded through the light snow on the ground along with the rest of his men. The 250-man Yukon Expeditionary Force had a simple mission: secure the bridge over the Missouri River between New Europa and the newly acquired Canadian Northwest Territories. The area had been sold by the Dominion of Columbia to New Europa. PM MacGregor, like many Canadians, had taken great offense to land that was traditionally claimed by Canada being sold. So the Prime Minister had commissioned the Yukon Defense Force from the elite Rockies Division to move in and secure the Norward Road, the only highway between New Europa and the land that the Europans planned to occupy. Higgins ordered his men to spread out along the bridge. Some set up the two anti-aircraft guns at the far end of the bridge, while others dug mortar pits on the nearby hills. His men efficently and quickly set up sandbags at the beginning, middle and end of the bridges. The checkpoints would deter any Europans from attempting to cross the bridge and the 6 machine gun emplacements would rip apart anyone stupid enough to try to take the bridge by force. Higgins, along with his second in command Lieutenant Frank Hill, moved to the small checkpoint at the head of the bridge. The Dominion guard moved out to yell at whoever was getting cozy on his bridge. Higgins smiled as the guard saw the well equipped Candian troopers.
"You are hereby relieved of duty. Return to your home. This bridge and the lands north of it are now in possession of the Republic of Canada." Higgins stated cooly.
The guard stood dumbfounded as two soldiers marched up to the flagpole next to the guard shack, lowered the Domonion flag, neatly folded it, and handed it to the stuned guard. They then ran the Candian flag up and assumed defensive position as their comrades set up a machine gun nest.
The Northwest Territory was once more Canadian.
*********
Canada has reoccupied the seized Northwest Territory. They will reimburse the Dominon of Columbia the 3 IC owed to them by New Europa.

Canada will also pay 1 IC for the creation of the Royal Canadian Protection Force to crack down on dissent and prevent further attacks on Canadian citizens.

Canada also puts forth the two following technologies:

Submachine gun
Research Cost: 6 IC
The C-30 is Canada's first submachine gun. The sturdy weapon features a 30 round clip, with gas powered cartridges, allow Canadian soldiers to put far more lead in the air, but with a smaller range than a traditional rifle

Mechanized Infantry
Research Cost: 15 IC
Mechanized infantry is a vast improvement over the traditional type. Rather than moving on foot, soldiers are moved from place to place on half-tracks, increasing range, speed and manuverabilty.

We have just sent a message to New Europa and ask them to read and consider it before doing anything rash.

From New Europa
To Canada

We agree to your purposal but we wish you would have notified us beforing moving troops into our territory which is considered a declaration of war. Our country demands a payment of 2 IC to pay for the inconvience as well as the land already transfered to Columbia.

OCC: Nice Update EQ!

CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS

The Soci Party has refused to join the Conservative-Democrat coalition. This has put the entire senate in a deadlock. Soci has listed the current administration's inability to deal with the economic situation, and their political corruptness. The Soci party has also demanded several high Minister positions, and have demanded that many of their politices be put through. The Democrat-Conservatives have denied such demands, but have said they are willing to cooperate.

As the senatorial crisis grips, the constitution has stated that the lower house will decide the cabinet if the Senate is unable to do so after a month. With the current problems of seating i nthe lower house, it would be even farther from possible to form a cabinet through deliberations there. As a result many are worried what the future of the nation's government will be.

wouldn't mind doing an update on Monday, if enough orders come in. Latest will be Tuesday.

Napoleon was proud of his son, for the first time in lving memory amiable relations had been constructed with their motherland. And through this Lousiana could rest safe in the knowledge that their existence was somewhat more secure. Despite recent occurences in neighbouring nations.

The Negroe rebellion in Texas had led to several thousand black refugees smuggling themselves out to Lousiana where they knew the blacks had equal rights. With them came stories of the horrors that accompanied war, but more harrowing yet was the rumour that the Texans had been exterminating any black they came across, man, woman or child. While Napoleon was in no mind to intervene pressure was mounting for some sort of action, or investigation.

Instead Napoleon set up accomadation for the refugees and employed them in paid labour as soon as possible. While it was hard work they were beign paid for it and through it were earning the right to claim Lousiana as their own home. The idea was to eliminate any bitter attitude towards the new comers from Lousiana's population, if these refugees were willing to work for the betterment of Lousiana then they were welcome.
