Following an amphibious invasion at Hartford, Socialist forces have broken through the border defenses of the New Englanders. Two New England divisions were surrounded and destroyed in Springfield by the advancing Socialist forces. However, heavy defensive forces have halted the Socialist assualt at Worchester. The German Panzer II has successfully proven itself in battle as superior than generic American designs. In addition the Stuka's first use has proven very effective as a tank-killer and heavy casualties have been inflicted on the Socialists by New England's close air support. In the air, the battle is so far inconclusive, though initial Socialist bomber attacks did devastate the New England bomber corps. Seasoned New England pilots have managed to mantain a presence in the skies despite the USSA having over 2-1 numerical superiority in planes.

This victory has at last created a land route between two of the largest native pockets in the occupied Federation.

However a surge of volunteers, consisting of some militia, but mostly irregulars armed with Molotov cocktails and other irregular weapons have arisen to defend the Mormon holy city of Salt Lake City. These new volunteers, makeshift defenses, and Mormon air superiority have provided Salt Lake City with relief and halted the European invasion at the gates. In the air the Stuka has been displayed as very vulnerable to conventional air superiority fighters. The Mormons' token fighter airforce has inflicted incredibly heavy casualties upon the Stuka bombers used in the invasion, giving Deseret air superiority.
