The Forum Games Catalogue/Information Thread

Are they very serious and stick closely to actual history, like a NES, or are they more wacky and far-out, like War at Civfanatics?

Depends on the particular edition, though it's typically somewhere between NES/lazyNES and War@CFC, leaning towards the latter.

Also, how much behind-the-scenes diplomacy is there

A fair bit.

and how much of a time commitment is it to play?

Again, depends on the game, how "committed" you are, and the people who are playing. At one point, it took half an hour to just read the posts in IOTIV from the previous day. Currently, Mini-IOT would take up less than five minutes a day all up, IOTII and IOTV around ten. Take out the diplomacy, and it only takes around a minute a day to send in your claims or orders.

btw IOTV Beta is over

and if you want to add the European Elimination Game that we just started

This is heck of out-of-date at the moment, sorry guys. Due to lack of a stable internet connection and general university work and tests and gubbins, I haven't had a lot of time to read these threads lately (for example, I have no idea what the current state of Mars Attacks! is). The changes above shall be added now, while I have some time.

EDIT: also I haven't added an IOT description yet, blurghhhhgh

Mars Attacks! should end in a few days, one way or another.

Info about IOT.

Imperium Offtopicum is an empire-building game that spawned off of the Altered Maps threads. It has had many variations, but some rules remain constant: You expand a little at a time, you can engage in war and conquer the world, and the overall goal is fun! So, look into playing one!

Thanks civplayah! :D Your description has been edited in (except I replaced 'off of' with 'from' because as a Brit I refuse to use the former :p) and some of tailless's info about time commitment has been added as well. You have both been credited.

It's not really my job to recommend games, but have any of you looked at Pacific War: Empires Clash by Lighthearter? It looks like he's put a lot of work into it, but he hasn't got a single signup yet. The thread only has a pittance of views so possibly some of you haven't checked it out yet - have a look!

I'ts both Model U.N. and model parliament. Model Parliament was in the Forum Games section, so it's appropriate to post here.

I still don't understand the Model Parliament thing. Roleplaying members of parliament, debating political issues? What is it, OT with fancy titles and sign ups?

Good news, bad news, and good news!

Good news is that I'm back forever! :D

Bad news is that, if it already isn't, my RTD game IS dead.

Good news is, I'm going to start a new game once Marching Band season is over. :p

Expect to see more activity from me starting November 7th.

What's so important about the seventh day of november, two thousand and ten?

The Second link in my signature is an RTD game.

The first link is a really good game that is in the works...

The third should not be clicked on under any circumstances:mischief:

I think everyone knows by now how to check a link without actually clicking it, Domination.

My R2D is back :)

I'm currently working on a unique fantasy-style Lazy-NES type game, so keep eyes peeled.
