It's just terrible. Despite all of Nintendo's efforts to combat piracy (the small disks, disks spin backwards, etc.), the pirates still managed to get through. :( At least the software isn't available yet, and Nintendo's working real hard to stop it. And piracy is a everyday thing for PS2 and Xbox

Nintendo knew this day would come. They get no tears :p.

Oh, I was talking about how Nintendo was cracking down on European importers. Doesn't matter at any rate, no matter what Nintendo does, people at GameFAQs complain about it.

I was correcting myself on what I said before.

Can you tell me about the "disks spin backwards"? I never heard of that before.

Appearantly the gamecube spins the disks backwards to combat piracy. Or so I heard...but it is most likely true. Nintendo has been famous for combating piracy instead of ignoring it, so that's why this news is so big.

EDIT: Something is really wrong with this server. Why is this post appearing ABOVE the post I posted this morning? :crazyeye:

I don't know much about piracy in recent years, but I know they lost millions to it with the NES and SNES. It took a while for the pirates to succeed, so hopefully it doesn't become chronic. Expect Nintendo to make some changes to future GCNs to stop this (if they haven't been making occasional subtle changes anyway, like with NES).

Yeah I'm at a three week camp where I have to dorm but I have a few minutes to spare on the internet. I'll probably just drop by with updates during these weeks. Anyway, just wanted to show you all how well the GB Player is doing in Japan. :D

Gamecube sales that week went from 2000 to 20000, which is pretty damn good. Sonic Adventure DX makes the list at number 4, which is surprisingly good for an upgraded dreamcast game. And Earthbound takes the number one, and Pokemon R/S is still alive, they already sold 2 million each. :D

Meanwhile for me, I'm definately getting Advance Wars 2 as soon as I get a chance. Can some one tell me if Wario World is any good? Or should I get Sonic Adventure DX?

it's a shame when a thread dies, especially when it's about a noble cause like nintendo, so i will write this, and hope for a response.

did anyone else dislike metroid prime? i enjoyed fusion, but prime just wasnt that fun to me. i guess i just didnt know what to make of it. it was strange the way they mixed fps and rpg. i am enjoying morrowind though, even though it is a first person rpg, but something about metroid prime just didnt feel right to me.

dont get me wrong, i love my 'cube, i just dont like metroid prime. does anybody else agree with me?

Thanks, I was wondering whether anyone at all was going to come revive this thread.

As for Metroid Prime, I sort of half-agree with you. For some reason, I'm not that "into it" and only have a few hours or so into my file. It's still a great game, but it just doesn't appeal to me. I've hardly touched Metroid Prime all summer, because most of my gaming time went into my borrowed OoT, Advance Wars 2, or Rise of Nations. I guess it's a tad overrated, but still deserved game of the year 2002.

Sorry, I haven't played MP, or any other GCN game since WW. Too busy with other systems for the time being, but I'll jump back in soon enough.

I forgot to mention that i did think that it had good graphics

BTW silverflame, what is Oot?

Whoa...major news regarding Nintendo's plan for their next console. Announced yesterday by Iwata was something "suprising and unique". Planet Gamecube posted an article of their speculations.

Wow some of that stuff looks good...I really hope they make the next one backwards compatible though.

Now what's the deal with Rare? Did Nintendo kick them out, or did those Brits choose to do so? Because personally I am very much saddened that Banjo-Kazooie are now Microsoft drones. :(

Nintendo kicked them out. Rare's last game, Starfox Adventures, was originally going to be a late N64 game called Dinosaur Planet. Then Nintendo decided it should be an early GCN with Starfox in it, so BANG in only one short year after the GCN release Starfox Adventures came out. Considering the extra year, it should have been good, but it was almost a rehash of OoT...

BUT!
Rare has returned to Nintendo (I think)

Looks like they're going to get rid of the remaining Nintendo projects they had by releasing them through THQ.

How exactly did Nintendo kick them out? Was it contract negotiations?

I'm not sure. Probably it was a disagreement with Nintendo and Rare. I know that once Rare left, Microsoft came and bought them 100%...

it's a tragedy that rare has been bought by the evil corporate empire that is Microsoft. They made such good games, in fact, i would say that Goldeneye is perhaps the best game ever, with the exception of civ (of course).

Rare isn't as great as it was in the SNES-N64 era, but they'd still be nice to have.
Most of that console article was speculative, but it was still interesting. I'd have to agree with about everything in the article. But here's a question for us to ponder, should Nintendo include DVD in the next system? I'd say it doesn't matter. Since all my systems are mine and mine alone, I won't have to wait to play while someone else is watching a movie, but I wouldn't mind having my own DVD-player. STill, I'd say no, since it would add to the price of the system.

Yeah, that's what I think. Only it's a bit more obvious for me to say no, as I already have two DVD players and only two TVs, so a third one would be pointless... :p

In one week the grand question will erupt...F-Zero or Soul Calliber II? Or maybe waste $100 for both? Released within one day of each other, both hugely hyped and living up to their great expectations. F-Zero, with it's incredibally fast speed, or Soul Calliber II, possibly one of the best fighting games ever created, even with Link's appearence?

Focusing on disadvantages, F-Zero is a racing game while two other great racers are coming out later in the year, Kirby's Air Ride and Mario Kart: Double Slash! Soul Calliber II may have Link, but he's appearantly unbalanced and a broken character mainly for show. Plus I've heard awful things about the GC controller, although my experience with it wasn't too bad. Both great games, with their flaws cancelling each other out.

I made up my mind to get Soul Calliber II, and a friend of mine will get F-Zero, so we can trade off in the future. How about you guys? Which one, both, or neither?
