The Great People Thread

At work right now, but just wanna confirm, do we only have the names of these GPs? No look at their abilities?

Just their names. They appear as auto complete options when people are looking things up in the civilopedia.

BREAKING NEWS :D

Great Prophet points cease to exist once you find a religion. Filthy had a policy in place, and the game forced him to change it after he found a religion (and policy is not there any more).

I was not checking all threads today so sorry if this is old.

Robert Goddard (Modern Engineer): Triggers the eureka moment for Rocketry, and +20% production towards Space Race projects.
Rabindranath Tagore (Atomic Writer): "The Home and The World" (Writing), "The Gardener" (Writing).

Surprised they didn't go with Gatsby this time for Fitzgerald--that book's full of quotes that get me every time I read it.

One thing I will say is I'm happy to see more modern Great People, and them being from such diverse places.

Luxerne you're a better man than I. Your eyesight at least.

Luxerne you're a better man than I. Your eyesight at least.

I've got to wear glasses, actually. But thanks. :p

Also from that stream that I conveniently stumbled upon by clicking at random timestamps...

Alfred Nobel (Modern Scientist): Triggers one random eureka for a technology from the Modern or Atomic era, applies 20 free Great People Points towards recruiting all current and future Great People.
Mark Twain (Modern Writer): "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" (Writing), "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" (Writing).

Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (Modern Musician): "1812 Overture" (Music), "Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture" (Music).
Claude Monet (Atomic Artist): "Water Lilies" (Landscape), "Impression, Sunrise" (Landscape), "Haystack at Giverny" (Landscape)

Not sure why Monet is Atomic rather than Modern

Found
Adam Smith (Industrial Merchant): Adds +1 Economic Policy slot to your government.
Rani Lakshimibai (Industrial General): Instantly creates a Cavalry unit with 1 promotion.

Also James Joyce. Ulysses and Dubliners.

A few more

Irene of Athens (Medieval Merchant): Increases trade route capacity by 1. Grants 1 free copy of the luxury resource on this tile to your capital city.
Marie-Catherine D'Aulnoy (Renaissance Writer): "Fair Goldilocks" (Writing), "The Dolphin" (Writing)
Leonardo da Vinci (Renaissance Engineer): Triggers the Eureka for one random technology of the Modern era. Workshops provide +1 culture.
El Greco (Industrial Artist): "Adoration of the Magi" (Religious), "The Assumption of the Virgin" (Religious), "View of Toledo" (Landscape)
Alvar Aalto (Modern Engineer): This city provides +1 Appeal to any tile it owns.
John Rockefeller (Modern Merchant): Grants +1 Oil, a strategic resource. Your trade routes gain +2 gold for each strategic resource improved by the destination city.

Some of the era classifications on a few great people seem off, but oh well.

Also, Adam Smith definitely seems powerful for basically being another Big Ben with his economic policy slot

Some more...

Angelica Kauffman (Modern Artist): "Anna Maria Jenkins and Thomas Jenkins" (Portrait), "Portrait of Johann Joachim Winckelmann" (Portrait), "Sarah Harrop as a Muse" (Portrait).
Liu Tianhua (Modern Musician): "Liang Xiao" (Music), "Kong Shan Niao Yu" (Music).
Emily Dickinson (Modern Writer): "A Bird Came Down" (Writing), "Success is counted sweetest" (Writing).

Sarah Breedlove (Modern Merchant): +25% tourism rate towards other civilizations you have a trade route to.
Leo Tolstoy (Modern Writer): "War and Peace" (Writing), "Anna Karenina" (Writing).

Interesting how "Art" was divided up into "Religous vs Art" and how now it's "Religous vs Portrait vs Scultupture vs Landscape."

Wondering how that's gonna play into the culture game.

In this stream https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV76HqtBv8A at 14:28 you see Antonio Vivaldi and Hieronymus Bosch available in the ancient era. Couldn't they just grey those spots out until the first civ reaches renaissance/industrial era or generate the first points towards them. Also: why is Vivaldi the first? No Renaissance musicians?
For some reason, the Great Admiral is not allowed for recruiting. Because he hasn't discovered the sea? Or do you need a coastal city?

Spoiler :
