Are you tired of sitting in traffic for hours while you're trying to get to work?
Are you sick of walking over the hills and through the woods to get from one city to the next?
Do you fear for your life because you live in Basillica and those reinforcements haven't arrived yet?

Ladies and Gentlemen, Citizens of Licentia: I have the solution!

As incoming Minister of the Interior, I present to you...

    The Great Road-building Project!

Our workers will be slaving away for the next couple of centuries to build more and more roads between our glorious cities. When the project is finished, you'll be able to travel to any city in our illustrious empire without having to fear for your life. Check out this map showing all of the current roads in blue and the proposed new roads in red (the yellow circles are cities):

Please note that the roads shown in pink are low-priority and will be finished later, since we don't have any cities there yet. But we promise to build roads there in the future so you can tour our beautiful coastlines at an alarmingly fast rate!

If you would like to leave your undying praise to the masterminds behind this project or would like to offer any suggestions to our brilliant minds, please do so here. Thanks!

I'd throw most of the workers at the high-priority ones, then maybe use 50% for the medium priority and then use like 15-20% for the low priority ones.

Balance need with the amount of workers. Then we can concentrate on producing units.

If anyone tries to tour the countryside lock'em in a van and send them to Basilica. This is no time for sightseeing we are at WAR people.

Well give nthe current state of war, I think Sigma will have to use the workers we have available. Porduction should be used for military units.

I agree that we should be building military units (you expected that, didn't you? ;) ), but building roads is one of the most useful things most workers can be doing right now.

I agree with what's been said above. We already have 10 workers (with another finishing in Auda City in 1 turn). That's plenty - our cities should be pumping out military units.

Now, for a more in-depth analysis of how this is going to be done:

Right now it takes 4 turns for a worker to build a road. (Darn - I thought it was 3) So I'd like to make two stacks of 4 workers, that can each build a road in 1 turn. I think then they'd be able to move to the next square and start that road in the same turn (since we're on epic, if I'm wrong please tell me). If they can move and road in 1 turn, they will be able to build 10 roads in 10 turns, otherwise they will be able to build 5 roads.

I'd also like to see if we could get a couple units to protect these workers, because I don't need to tell you how bad it would be for our economy if we lost 4 of them. Only one stack would need them - the one that's going to be working close to enemy lines. If I can't get any protection, I will most likely wait until we get a cease fire.

Before I get into the order and specifics, I'll also state that the other 3 workers will be used for strategic chops to speed up our military production, and I will leave the worker that is building farms around FI.

The first stack will be working in West Licentia, safely behind our borders. They will meet 1W of Old Sarai and build a road to Abydos. Then they will turn south and build roads toward FI, building the off-shoots when they get to them. When that section is done (probably after the next TC), they will either build from FI to CF or to NPC depending on what the Eastern stack did. After we get to that point, I'll re-evaluate and see where we should go next.

The second stack will be much closer to enemy lines, and will be the one that needs protection. They will meet 3S of Auda City and wait for the worker about to be produced. They will then build the small road going S toward Basillica. Here's where it differentiates: If the stack does receive military escort (I'd like to see an archer and a spear, or an axe and a spear), it will turn to Toot and start building a road to Basillica, and from there build towards CF north of the mountain. They will then turn around and build back towards Old Sarai and we'll re-evaluate from there (that will take more than 10 turns). If there is no escort, the stack will move toward Old Sarai and connect it's road to Basillica and then build to CF. If there are still turns left, it will build from CF to FI. Should we receive a cease fire at any point, the military escort will be released to Basillica and the workers will start doing the closest roads to enemy lines to get them out of the way.

Please let me know what you think about this plan.

    Sigma,

I think this is a good plan and I'll get you an escort of an archer and an axe as soon as possible. The archer will come from Auda City so will be at the rendezvous in 3 turns. The axe will complete in Abydos in 2 and will take a further 4 to get to the rendezvous. However, you can probably get on tile of road underway before he arrives as you are still quite a way north of the border.
