Sapphire looked into the young boys' eyes and said with a grin, "Yes, young warrior we know as much". General Civius turned to Sapphire, "Vandal has not entered the Black Market since the fall of the Black Hand. His Army of the Republic has scores of explosives at their disposal. It just doesn't add up". The boys face lit up and he began to speak but closed his mouth before uttering a word. Sapphire looked at Civius, it was clear now.....

Vandal walked off his ship to find all of his troops kneeling before him. Vandal smiled and then began to pace before his men.

"Today,"Vandal began,"Warfare uses weapons like the rifle, and the cannon. But I prefer the sword, and the daggar." Abruptly his wrist blades shot out and the front line twitiched. "The weapons...... of an assassin. In a matter of days you will all be grouped into commando units, and will be sent all over the world to assassinate the world leaders.... To begin international warfare. Each group will fly a different nations colors." Vandal shot on of the blades at a passing bystander."If any one finds out you work for me," From behind Vandal comes four men dressed in black armour, and weilding a large pike. "You will not live to tell the tale."

Vandal smiled and dissmised them. Leaving Cedric and the Black guard with Vandal.

"But, why buy all of the explosives?" Cedric asked.
"Patcience, my son." Vandal said with a grin.

Hito looked at the boys blind eye. He had heard of this boy. He held his tongue until the conversations stopped. Then he addressed the boy.

"I've heard of you. You are a follower of Diamondeye. Orphan to prodigy to heir apparent." Hito bowed. "I'm not aware of your name, but as I am deeply religious and follow our faith, consider this offer of help. If you are hungry or need a place to stay, anything... please let me know. I would be honored if you mentioned me to Diamondeye."

Then to General Civius, "Civius, it is an honor to see you again. Glad I could be of help. And good luck chasing down Vandal." When they were finished shaking hands, he turned to Sapphire. Touching the end of the lock of hair that Vandal had cut and taken, he smiled.

"Hopefully, we will speak again, soon." With that he looked again to the boy...

The Prophet damned himself for reacting that fast. He looked at the two agents carefully. "I might as well tell you everything, right? You're seeing right through me anyway."
He sat down and looked up at them.
"I am an orphan. I was raised by the monk Diamondeye. I am sure you know of him. The other orphans hated me because of my bleak eye. Diamondeye took care of me and raised me and taught me in the mysteries of swordsmanship and Ibbisine Polytheism. I may be the most competent man on that matter in all of Aretania since Diamondeye is, unfortunately, dead."
He looked at the others to see their reaction. Despite their professionalism, a small glimpse of surprise showed.
"He commited suicide when he had done what he was put in the world to do. Just after hearing about his brothers death. I found him. He had cut himself open with this,"
the Prophet pats the clothed sword.
"He told me to go out into the world and show the Aretanians the gods. I figured I might as well try to find them myself first, which is why I was hiding on the ship. Do you think you can help me?"
The Prophet looked at them and added.
"By the way, Diamondeye also left me a message for whoever is in charge of investigation now, I believe it was originally intended for Cyc once he was king, but I don't know who is leading the search for the Cult of the Firevulture now?"

Sapphire took the boy under her right arm, giving him a gentle squeeze, "You will come with me back to the Palace in Arete. There are many others who will also want to hear you're tale". General Civius nodded his head in agreeance, "I am awaiting a Frigate to pick me up in Port. I have a feeling where Vandal is going and his plans to cause civil unrest and disorder will be dealt with by me personally. Send word to General Oda that 2 Divisions of Rifleman are to accompany the Dark Agents to Kassite".....

Vandal sat at the gates of Kassite with his legs crossed in what appeared to be a meditation process, but his eys were wide open. Wind blew across his face every few moments cooling him on the hot day. He had placed twelve assorted blade over his body, and wore a chainmail under his light, black colthing. If any thing approached the gate, they had to be carefully inspected by Vandal himself. Actually, one man attemptd to attack Vandal, but met the edge of Vandal's blades before even touching him.

There had been nothing attempting to enter the gate for at leat one hour, and Vandal was getting bored, but then Vandal's eyes widened and he ran into the city realizing what was to happen.

The boy nodded at agent Sapphire. "Yes miss, I would be glad to be of assistance. Could you, perhaps, after the hearing, help me find a boat? I want to go somewhere far from this city where the streets run in blood and bad memories."
The boy pressed back the tears that showed in his eyes and followed Sapphire back to the Palace.

Vandal stood before his new Commando units, and paced as the kneeled.

"You will all now be sent off all over the world, but there is one more test you must pass before the world falls into Darkness."He paused," An Aretean Army led by a highly trained General is comming twords Kassite, we will kill them before they make it here. By useing these." He pointed to a large crate being carried over to Vandal, he oppened it and pulled out Rifles, painted camoflouge.

"This is covert war-fare. Use any weapons you choose, but make sure not to fall onto the soe road up to Kassite, for it is littereed by bombs, hiden under the ground, at certain postions a fuse will be visible, when the Areteans come to close, light the fuse, and in a matter of moments, the ground will expload."

    "Faliure is not an option."

The Federation forces were approaching the city of Kassite. The Dark Agents were to go in first and attempt to capture the Warlord covertly. Republican Gaurds would surely be ready to ambush any overt assault. The people of Kassite are an ancient people and may side with Vandal if they feel threatened by the Federation.

The strike team would be led by Odas' Son, the Shogun Ahshika. A master in the Samurai Arts that has been raised by the Dark Agency since his birth. He would give Vandal Warlord honor but any resistance was to be put down by any means necessary. The agents, dawned in all black, looked like a shadow crossing the vast grasslands outside of Kassite, then the ground began to shake beneath their feet........

..... An explosion shook the men of Anshika, and men fell to the ground. Then from the trees a barrage of Gunfire caused men of Anshika's men to collapse to the ground dead. After the first barrage there was a scramble to get up. Immediatly Men ran farther down the path, hoping to out run the Gunmen, only to fall by the rest of Vandal's agents. Anshika stood as the morale immediatly dropped.

"Stand! Half of you, into the woods in groups to attack the gunmen, the rest of you, come with me!" Anshika ordered and they rushed down the path.

    *******************************************************

Vandal's men scrambled to reload, and did not realize Anshika's men run past them, causing no explosion to go off.

    ********************************************************

Vandal stood at the Gates of the city with his Black guard behind him. His wrist blades were at the ready, and had a rifle in hand. He was ready to kill any man who came within spitting distance, and Vandal could spit awefully far. Cedric came from behind him and crossed his arms.
"The Local Milita is ready to fight, should I ready them?" Cedric asked looking foreward as he heard the bounding explosions of gunfire.

"Is Enrico en route to Venice?" Vandal said with a stern look on his face, even though he could hear the screams of many men.

"Yes, your protégé is en route. Now, should I ready them?" Cedric said as he began to stumble back out of fear.

"Very Well, I here the enemy approach."

General Civius felt the earth shake from the distant explosion. It was as if 10,000 cannons fired at once. The sky was lit up as if it were daytime. He could see the fire fight it was merely 100 meters away. He ordered the 1st Division of Federation Riflemen to hit Vandals' flank at full charge.

Ahshika was past the enemies position like a lightning bolt. He knew only to bring elite assassins with him. The rest of the agents would keep Vandals forces engaged, unable to follow. They would be cut down by Riflefire but that was the price they'd pay to complete the mission.

Vandal saw Civius' army first, and the great warlord fell to the ground, with a bullet lodged in his left arm. Immediatly the Black Guard turned their backs to the attackers, showing large sheilds, to defend them as they assisted Vandal.

"Kill them...." Vandal said, and then screamed as on guard manged to use a knife to take the bullet from his arm.

"Send the Millita out, and fight them!" Vandal gestured to Cedric, who nodded and ran off with his sword at hand, as the Militia followed. The Black Guard stood In front of Vandal as they now placed the large in one hand, and the Pike in the other, willing to die defending Vandal.

    *****************************************

And so, the Battle of Kassite ensued.

Ahshika approached the circle of Gaurds poised to defend their master. The Dark Agents were outnumbered 10 to 1. "Vandal Warlord is to surrender to Federation authority immediately!" yelled the Shogun.

As the Federation division was finishing off Vandals forces at the edge of the city a bombardment began. Only the steel balls were raining down on them. General Civius ducked seconds before a ball of fire slammed the leutanant standing beside him. A full Army of Republic Regulars were approaching the city from the west. The Federation was forced to retreat, leaving the Dark Agents within the city.........

The Prophet dragged in Sapphires garments. "Are you coming, milady? I have much to tell you."

From a hilltop outside of Kassite, Mai watched the battle. She had just recieved the news of Sindars death, and was facing difficulty with even simple tasks. Despite their troubles since Sindars trip to Babylon, Mai had somehow always known that they were meant for each other, that he would return to her. Deprived of this possibility, she felt her sanity fleeting. She had walked for days now, all the way from Arete. Her clothes were black and belt and armbands had metal bolts in them. Her long, beautiful black her was arranged in an until-now unheard-of style - it was shaped into spikes pointing away from her head. She had even painted her face pearl-white. Hanging by her side was a small knife. Whenever she felt tired but did not want to sleep, she used it to cut a small wound in her wrist. The adrenaline could easilty keep you going for some time after that. Sindar had taught her the technique.

She watched with a mix of fascination and disgust as the men threw themselves into battle.

Vandal paced before the Prisoners of War. The Battle of Kassite had been won, by Vandal's perfect timed Renforcements. He stopped and faced them.

"You are the Dark Agents of the Federation of Free States. Enemy of the Republic of Kassite." He then gestured to the Black Guard, who killed every last one.

    "My eneimes must fall."

"You've done well, Governor General. Please, call me Cyc. May I call you Nate?" started the former King. Nate brought his hands together thoughtfully, "For personal meetings, yes Cyc, that will be fine."

Cyc smiled and began again, "I'm sure you've read the government reports, as did I in the Monarchy. There are forces at work in this world that even the government's best and brightest have not yet been able to crack. The Arete Black Market being our main nemisis, and we've only been abe to identify it as such for the past few years. The Black Market is on the tip of everyone's tongue, but no one really knows anything about it. It moves very quickly. I'm convinced that it stems from a renegade sheriff I once hired, but had to dismiss eventually. He and his men were using their badge for ilegal purposes." Cyc stopped and slowly shook his head.

Nate spoke, "Yes, I have read the reports and I'm aware of the rising problem of the Black Market. I'm also aware of the difficulty we've had in getting enough information to make a case. But this sheriff angle is new."

Just between you and I, Nate, I've got some people very close to the source of the problem. They are not government people, so let's keep this info under the table. I just wanted to let you know, and offer my help in the future if you need it. If there's anything you need from me, please let me know."

Nate looked to the letter on the desk in front of him, after Cyc and his meeting, he knew he had to follow this lead to the greatest ability he had, the monarchy had not fallen simply to reduce the nation's pursuit of criminals.

    He looked back at Cyc.

"There just so happens to be something I need help with, Cyc."

He picked up the letter, and gave the paper to Cyc.

"This is where I was going when you caught me, it's a far off lead, and potentially dangerous, but I've kept my work on the Black Market under the table, and I will guarded."

Cyc began reading the letter. Within moments he stood up and began to focus intensely on the letter.

"Nate, I recognize this handwriting," he said, "but I just can't remember the name."
    He began to pace.
"Don't leave yet, I will bring in one of my penmanship experts, he should still be here now."
Cyc walked to the door very quickly, and opened it. He spotted the very first passerby.
"Hey!" Cyc shouted to the end of the room. He achieved the smal man's attention. "Go to Wing D, ask for the King's Scribe, and send him here.

The man answered back in awe, nearly dropping his papers, "Yes Sir."

Cyc turned around and looked back to Nate, "We may just be on to something."

    BOOM

A great Explosion rocked the building, and caused, many things to fall and shatter. Cyc hopped up and ran outside, with Nate following. From the smoke and dust emrged a sihlotte of a yound man, with a poatoe sack.

A Rush a memories came to Cyc, and he blocked the young man. Finally the siholtte was in total visiblity. He was a young man with long Blonde hair, wearing a chain mail with Vandal the Burning's Insignia. The Young man stopped before Cyc.

The Young man abruptly pulled out a blade, and showed it to Cyc. The Young Man then craged, and Cyc moved out of the way. From the large sack rolled out a small black bomb.

OOC: I need a reply from Sapphire.

Mei looked at the town of Kassite. She was certain that only the exquisite timing of the reinforcements had saved the town from falling. Still, it had been a night of death, and tomorrow the sun would dawn red as blood. She sat down on a nearby rock. and looked up into the sky. "If only you were here, Sindar. You would know how to stop this madness. Or at least take me far away from it."

Dawned in Royal dress Sapphire escorted the young Prophet to the Aretan Palace. He was overwhelmed by the large crowd of politicians, scholars and religious men in attendance. She gave him a smile and a few words of encouragement as he walked before the men......

"Vandal has gone too far!", yelled Oda at the dark night sky. General Civius tried to calm him down but he knew Odas' sons fate. Again the image from so long ago when he had the chance to kill the Vandal, but flenched. He'd again saved the vile man from plunging off a cliff and certain death during the Cycles' Dynasty. "This time I will kill him Civius and all who follow his dark ways." General Civius nodded, for he knew there was no choice but to rid Areteania of this menace......
