The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

Its a great game. One of the first improvements I noticed (and significant IMO) is that you aren't being pulled in and out of the assassin's world between DNA sequences. You finish one, and you just keep playing in the past, you don't have to get up and go to bed than reenter the machine. And you keep playing when the main storyline is over, so you can continue to finish side quests or find the easter eggs :)

Frak yes. My game OCD was screaming at me to go back to an earlier save in AC1 to finish all the little side quests.

Bad things about AC1 that I hope they fixed about AC2:
- Unskippable cutscenes
- Huge "open world" with nothing to do except climb up towers and 3 types of repetitive and absurd and easy missions
- Being told that there are many ways to murder your target which was not quite true; while you could very well do it rambo style and do it in many ways, there was always an obvious one and only way that wasn't downright stupid. That's what I call hiding linearity.
- Hold block button = live forever
- Other stuff.

If it's a torrent, then i always get slow speeds with them, but if not it's probably your connection.

Mass Effect 2 runs real smoothly on my computer compared to the first one! Although that could just be after patch. I'll have to play the first game to import into the new one.

This was also the first time I made a male character to get some delicious Tali.

I'm hoping so, as my comp meets the recommended specs instead of exceeding them this time!

It's still slow today, everything else is fine; I download at 1 MB/s on Steam for instance, same for random files off my browser. But from gog I'm still getting 40 k/s. Not liking it. It's the first time I use their service.

So much for an impulse buy because I randomly wanted to play that game yesterday evening. By the time this one gig download is done (like tomorrow), it'll have been 2 days, and my impulse is already leaving me. ffuuuuuuuuu

Oh yeah if you can run Mass Effect, you certainly can run Mass Effect 2. Mass Effect 2 just runs oh so smoothly on my computer. There are a few moments of chugging but it returns to normal afterward and playing for 4 straight hours, not one crash or freeze.

Now I tried from a completely different computer miles from my house and I still get crappy download speeds. So um... This is not a good experience.

The worst thing is that, while trying to get better speeds from gog.com on my computer at home and reducing file corruption risks, I used their download manager. The gog downloader. It's not downloading better, but somehow this little program is a ressource hog on the computer. I don't leave my computer running during the day when I'm not home because it uses a lot of power. So I'm downloading this game... When I'm actively using the computer... And it's slowing down my PC and my gaming rig... For 24 hours (which in reality is 4-5 days because my computer only runs so many hours every day). Yeah I could leave my PC on through the night and all, but considering buying from GOG is a way to buy cheap games, I don't see why I'd double the price I paid for it in electricity bills, it's just against my principles, hehe.

You can get Tali ?
I'm appalled and infuriated. Partly because this is a minor spoiler and partly because I regarded Mass Effect as a remarkably well thought-out SF scenario which just became stupider by interspecies romance. I already had a hard time accepting an Asari/Human pairing and I find the justification for it to be highly questionable.
I'm also angry that I really don't have much time for games at the moment and what little time I have is still reserved for Dragon Age.
Damn you Bioware  !

You're... angry that your character can have sex with a blue alien in Mass Effect? What?

I have never found the romances in Bioware games and previous games by studios like Black Isle to be bad, or even get in the way. Some of them are very very interesting (Aerie <3, Leliana <3).

I never really cared for the whole blue alien thing, but I will defend to the death your right to canoodle them
