The "I Got A New Game!" Thread

You're... angry that your character can have sex with a blue alien in Mass Effect? What?

I have never found the romances in Bioware games and previous games by studios like Black Isle to be bad, or even get in the way. Some of them are very very interesting (Aerie <3, Leliana <3).

I can be very peculiar about my science fiction, and I prefer it very heavy on the science side. Mass Effect wasn't near as silly as Star Trek but the Asari still bothered me.

The Asari from what I understand take some of the DNA from their partner and adds it to their own, and all Asari are 'female' (since they only have one gender). Obviously Bioware isn't going to go into great technical depth about Asari reproduction. I don't really see the problem, their children are all Asari and they get seemingly little from the "father". What is unrealistic is that most of the aliens are bipedal humanoids.

I was so disappointed when I found out my female Shepard couldn't get down with krogen. :(

Oh well! Getting down with some delicious Tali makes up for it.

Here to complain some more about gog.com

So the game I bought many days ago finished downloading and well the file is corrupted because, duh, it took too long to download. Actually that's not all, I also tried downloading it from work and it wouldn't go faster (different ISP too). I tried with the ethernet cable straight to my computer (without router), I tried with firewall off, I tried on 3 different computers now.

This is bad. I wanted to like gog.com, I mean, with the DRM-protest wave and all, but trying to hard just to get a file downloaded, on so many computers, and when you're finally done, quiet Saturday night, in the mood for that game, and you boot the installer and the file is corrupted. Well let me tell you it made me want to hulk-smash something.

I bought the Xcom thing too. Tried UFO defense. Interesting but I had no idea what to do. Even on beginner really tough.

I bought and finished Mass Effect 1. The beginning feels very generic and boring, but it gets better very quickly. It's the best Bioware RPG since Baldur's Gate II as far as i am concerned, and i look forward to when the price of ME2 drops to reasonable levels...

Has the MAKO driving bored you to death yet? If not, it will.

As for me, I picked up psychonauts that time it was on sale for 2$. I havent actually played anything except for an hour of tf2 this last week. I hate my schedule right now.

Yeah, exploring planets with MAKO was a bit of a let down. I generally like exploring, even without fights, but the scenery has to be interesting. Driving around aimlessly in bland terrain sucked. Thankfully you can opt out - it's not like you need the credits you get from surveying resources.

Psychonauts seems like a really original game. I made it two missions into the game before losing interest, which speaks for the game considering how i generally dislike the genre...

I actually kind of enjoyed the MAKO, well, mostly the atmosphere, it sure wasn't that interesting, but it was... I dunno... relaxing? hehe.

I also got Psychonauts recently, it's pretty good, not far into it yet... But I just got way too many games. I just bought Mass Effect 2 and now I have to stop. I get lured by all the sales... I got

Tropico 3, Psychonauts, ME 2, X-Com, EU III HttT, Riven, Titan Quest Gold, Sid Meier's Pirates! in the past couple weeks.

Spoiler :

I was so annoyed when I went to the Normandy crash site in ME2 and found the mako was the only thing still intact. I wanted to blow it up with by hurling my mineral scanner at it :p.

Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars! :w00t:

Man, what an improvement over the N64 version... and all the other RTS on my computer right now too! :D

ObsCure for the PS2. I was led to believe (by reviews) it was an extremely flawed but enjoyable game, aesthetically pleasing as well, but I found it turned out almost unplayable. Me and three friends were switching around in the co-op mode and simply didn't get anything out of the experience. I think games are much too highly rated when 75% is considered an 'average score' and a game that simply offers no entertainment value is widely evaluated being as 60%+.
