The Importance of Hardware Transform & Lighting

I think all laptops with mobility radeon or geforce go have T&L.
So if you plan to buy a laptop soon make sure you go with one of these.

I prefer the radeon cards.

I have a ATI mobility and as i didn't pass the T&L check, i know it has it (i can run Doom 3, Black & White 2, etc.). The ultimate test you can run to see if you computer can run Civ IV is to try playing Pirates! as it uses almost the same engine. Maybe they have a demo you can download.

This does not sound good at all.

My laptop is a grand 2 months old, and with the new line of Intel graphics cards - I know those aren't very fancy, but they're fairly up to date and have performed very well with more graphics-intensive games, but it lacks T & L.

EDIT: I checked that test website, and I got the same results that I got for Age of Empires III, which ran fine despite "requiring" T & L. On the other hand, the Lego Star Wars demo would never run for me, period, because I lacked T & L.

Let's hope they release a demo . . .

EDIT2: After checking several games, I've "failed" WarHammer 40,000, Age of Empires III and Rome Total War, the demos of all of which ran fine, regardless of T & L support. People should be okay unless Civ IV is one of those games that check for T & L and then shut down if you don't have it (as Lego Star Wars did to me).

I have a question. The test says that i don't meet the requirements for the videocard, but when they list down the requirements inside the video card section, i meet all three of them. (32 MB - yes, 3D acceleration - yes, T&L - yes.) Does this mean my videocard is good enough. Perhaps the test didn't recognise my Video Card name, but recognised its components. Heck, i didn't even know my computer had a Video Card, though every computer have one.

I got the same result. Try seeing if there are any driver updates for your comp.
