I saw this picture by the user JunnaPalmerston on the Civ Reddit and thought it was pretty funny so I thought I'd share it here! Apparently there was this mall in Indonesia that posted this and honestly, after some of the discussions that I've had on here, I can't blame them too much!

Mayan Montezuma?

I know right! To be fair, if I hadn't played or even seen Civ 5, I probably wouldn't even know that the guy on the poster is supposed to be Aztec and not Mayan, let alone be Montezuma specifically. I'm not sure how it is in other countries like Indonesia (though I imagine Mexico probably has a more nuanced view) but in many examples of American pop culture the Aztecs and Mayans are usually pretty interchangeable in their appearance (Apocalypto is a notable example). As interesting as Montezuma's supposed headdress is, I'd prefer it if one day we had a more accurate looking Montezuma like in @ehecatzin 's drawing.

Tis the season so why not! The circle would be complete if the Mayan leader we get looks more like an Aztec!

It'll probably be just called a sacrificial altar.
In all serious I'm hoping when they do show up they get a unique Holy Site District. The unique districts in gathering storm look nice with the unique architecture going to the buildings, such as the mudbrick market and banks in the Suguba. So I'm all for seeing some unique looking Mayan shrines and temples.
