"...and 'lo, from that tree in the desert did come a voice that shook the ground with it's pillar of sounds, and brought many of those to their knees, save for she that was chosen; a young woman known as Sistine. For five days the ground did shake, and for five days the people did fear the end of the world in only a moments time hence. At the end of the fifth day, the voice did stop, and she that was chosen did reveal to those who watched that she alone was able to hear in clarity. The ways of the occult in past were over, and now, only one God would rule..." - From the Book of the RNG God."

Over the years, we have heard rumors about the Monotheistic Revolution taking place. We've seen our populations grow, but our Temples house a crowd that shows no sign of increasing. Stories from The Book of the RNG God have been spreading throughout our and other nations lands, and scholars predict it will begin to spread like wildfire across the world. Already in the one of our cities, a Cathedral is ready to be produced. Religious and Cultural scholars are expecting that a mass wave towards the Random Number Generationism movement is at hand. And just a few weeks ago, many highly established Citizens went to the polls and determined that they want to be the center of this movement, producing a religious contentment throughout Fanatikos that would serve as the glue to hold our country closer together. The idea was to create a chapel to commemorate the life of this great woman, Sistine, and usher forth the notion that Fanatikos truly is the great center of RNGism.

Now, at the cusp of this revolution, we must ponder the site. Please use this thread for comments about the future placement of the Sistine Chapel.

As a Citizen, I would like to propose that Priapos become the city to house the Sistine Chapel. My reasons are followed:

  • Already, the City of Priapos has a Temple, Library, and Marketplace. With it's close proximity to the Palace, corruption has a limited effect, making less worthy the need for a courthouse for some time. As such, the need to produce large-scale city improvements in these upcoming years are smaller in comparison to other cities.
  • Priapos will most likely be the first City to finish a Cathedral, and as such they will not have problems with hapiness for some time.
  • With a large Culture rating, putting the Sistine Chapel near a city on the edge of our nation might result in unwanted cities revolting to our Nation. IMO, this would probably cause a great deal of controversy within our nation. :P
  • With it's proximity to more rivers, and as such, more commercial value, Olympus might be a better location to house any future Scientific wonders.
  • Edit:Thus far, Priapos' production has not had a large role in the national good, such as attributing to the army or building workers and settlers. Rather than having to once again putting us down a path where one of our main unit-creating cities are immobolized, let's put this where it's safe and there is a smaller chance that we will need to change from it.

Ah, you've beaten me to it, Gerikes!

Recently, I asked the citizens of Fanatikos to determine which wonders were a priority for us. Very high on that list is the Sistine Chapel. It's also the first of the priority wonders to become available to us.

It's going to be a race to get that wonder, and one that we need to win. Before the next game session, we need to determine where to build that wonder. I'll allocate workers to improve that city and boost their population to make sure we've got the best possible chance.

Gerikes gave some excellent reasons for Priapos to construct the Sistine Chapel. I challenge the other Governors - why should Fanatikos build this wonder in your city?

I am no longer the governor of the fair city of Styx, but I am still a vocal citizen. And, from time to time, the spirit moves me. Another force takes over and he begins to preach. Brothers and sisters, it is time once again for the Reverend to speak.

My brothers and sisters. It has been a long time coming since we have last rejoiced in each other’s company. In that time, our nation has grown and prospered. In that time, Styx has grown. The spirit has possessed the city and made it grow to monumental heights. It is bigger and grander than anything I could have ever envisioned. And now, ladies and gentlemen, and now, it is time to add to the grandiose of Styx. The time has come for the city to expand its facilities for its vocal congregation. Can I hear an amen to a new facility? Can I hear an amen to a more beautiful house of the lord? Can I hear an amen to building the great Sistine Chapel in the city of Styx?

Lord, may we now bow our heads in prayer.

Almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster:

You touch us all with your noodly appendage. Give us this day our daily bread, so that we may all feast in the sauce of your creation. May the city of Styx be blessed with a church celebrating your glory, the Sistine Chapel. May the Reverend also get into Yale University.

Ramen.

That is all

Priapos is a city high in commerce. When this commerce is turned to science, it is high in science. Priapos would do better to build a Wonder that takes advantage of this. In the recent poll the people wanted to build Copernicus Observatory and Newton's University more than the Sistine Chapel. Priapos will make the most of one of these Wonders, the Sistine Chapel can be built anywhere.

Let Styx build the Sistine Chapel
Let Priapos build Copernicus or Newton's.

Apart from that I would be interested to see if the church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster will ever overcome the worship of the RNG gods in our nation.

The President's office would like for all citizen's to also note that the cities of Olympus and Civantonia do currently have Great Wonders in them. The Augean Stables is also working on the chapterhouse for the Knights Templar - sure to be a wonder! We feel that with our foresight, planning and preperation, we can build the wonders we prioritize in any city.

For that reason, we encourage all citizens to decide on the location of this city between Styx and Priapos.

I'll admit when I'm wrong.

I agree that Copernicus and Newton's should be built in Commercial centers. However, it wasn't until I reworked my math that I realized that, all things being equal, Priapos should be ahead of Olympus in commerce even before Commercial Docks, which was my primary reason for thinking of putting Copernicus and/or Newton's (preferably "and") at Olympus. I might now be leaning more towards a Styx or Olympus placement. Styx because it'd be nice, Olympus due to it's production abilities.

My concern is that we finish in a timely manner. With Rome, Persia, and also France building Sun Tzu's, there will be a cascade. If these nations take the Invention->Gunpowder steps, we'll be fine. But, if one of two cascading nations somehow get to Theology, we might have problems.

Here's my suggested plan.

We continue on the Knights Templar in Augean Stables (duh!). Styx immediately starts preparing to build the Sistine Chapel. We'll plan on building a giant observatory in Priapos in the next hundred-odd years or so.

I plan on merging two working into Augean Stables for the Knights Templar. I will also assign two workers to Styx, for the Governor to fully develop his land, then merge them into the city. Styx will also get priority on rush builds to ensure the city is ready for Constuction. Once Governor DaveShack feels his city is ready, and Augean Stables has started construction on the Knights Templar proper, the Palace prebuild is his to use. We'll start on the Sistine Chapel when ready.

I will further commit to keeping a high science rate. I won't push our scientists to they limit, nor completely strip the treasury bare, but our scientists will like the funding that will be available to them.

Fellow citizens, please let me know your thoughts! I plan to place this matter before you all tonight. If there's no objection to my plan, it will be an approval poll. If alternatives are presented, we'll be deciding which approach to use.

Governors, your comments are most especially wanted!

I know that Olympus already has a Great Wonder, but I feel it really is the culture center of our empire, while Priapos is the Financial center. Thus, I think this wonder would be better suited for Olympus. Plus, its production capabilites are DOUBLE that of Priapos.

Poll has been posted here.

This will allow our Governors ample time to prepare their cities for the long builds that wonders generally require.

Thanks!
