 I think the greatest civs are: Rome, Byzantines, Portuguese, England, America and Arabs. Why?

Rome- Theier UU is the best in the Anicent Times and it can be used in the beggining of the middle ages
Byzantines-The reason is also about theier UU. The Dormon is the "king of seas" in all Anicent Times and i sinked many times caravels and frigates with it
Portugal- Really the reason is not by being my country, but mostelly by the traits. Expansionist civs are good at pangea maps, and seafarings in Islands so the combination of the 2 is perfect to continents.:king: And the UU doen't sink on the ocean because of that I can take Advantage on Navigation( I like to the color)
The other 2 are good too.

The Celts and Maya. Both have good (in the case of the Celts, kick-*ss) UUs and are Agricultural. Religious and Industrious both augment Agricultural very well.

I agree with Cuivenen, Celts are close to overpowered. Their UU is like an ancient knight and with Agricultural you can even keep up with the AI in expanding. Combined with Religious they're my favorite Civ (didn't play them too many times, though). But he, all Civs with Agricultural are very good,

I'm a Celts fanatic as well. I have found that I also do well with Egypt and Maya. I really enjoy agriculture and Gallic Swordsmen!

Personally Mayans, UU isn't the best, but is's useful (even better with the enslave ability). Also, they've got some of the best traits. Fast growth, and the industrilization ability to harness it.

    Your Poll is crap.

Sorry to say that, but you left out Persia, to call out the most prominent one.

Ottomans, Persia, Babylon and the Celts.

I did not vote - it is sad to see such polls ruined by bad questioning and missing answers.

Sorry again, but a poll like this will not work without Persia.

    Ottomans.

Agree that lacking Persia is a big flaw.

And why the CENSORED is this a multiple choice poll?

    Different Civs in different times..

    In brief:
Persia for Ancient, Ottoman after that and then the Germans if they make it to tank-age..

If I have to choose one, I'd go with Persia. Let them loose with iron and immortals in Ancient age...

I miss Germans and Persians. Which for me are number 1 and 2. German Panzers are all powerful (ok, in later stage, but I usually play builder and start expanding a lot in the industrial age).
Persians are the most powerful in ancient era (to me). It also depends on style of play. Greeks are almost unbeatable in ancient era, but they won't take many cities from you either. Babs are powerful if you want cultural flips on smaller maps, and so on.

BTW I voted China on this poll. Cranking out riders and have them in armies is just soooo powerful.

Depends on the civ, depends on the situation. All civs have the potential to be the most powerful.
