Where in the name of god's toenails is this English city from within the game? Being English myself I can quite confidently say that I have never heard of it in my entire life. Where the devil is it?

Considering the fact that 'Brandenburg' (A German region, not a city) was included in the German city list, I am rather curious as to what the motivation behind including this particular city was. Perhaps there wasn't any motivation at all.

It's even more curious when, say, a place like Leeds with one of the highest urban populations in England didn't make it onto the list. Quite bizzare, really.

The Mumbles isn't a city - its the name of a headland in south west Wales - why they used this is beyone me!

I'm German this time, and just now I conquered The Mumbles. I thought, it's just a silly English name, so I'll rename it with a silly German name. It's now Der Dummkopf.

I am similarly confused.

Whoever writes the city lists needs a good slap around the chops, if you ask me.

Maybe there was a famous historical battle fought there, like Rumble in the Mumble(s). ;)

The first time I heard of it, I thought it was French. :) And, I do miss some of those Civ2 names...

I think that all cities in the game should be Regions instead of City names. Because that is what they really are.

no sheffield either but i am positive leeds is in the normal civ3 list

I might be getting mixed up, but there was definite lack of rather large bits of Northern England in the city list, I remember that much.

leeds isabout 20 cities in me thinks. i've never eard of 'the mumbles', but sure would like to live there!

The Mumbles is in Swansea (south Wales).

I think Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas have a house there.

I never play as the english (on account of the UU, MoW)
I also never play against them (on account that they kick my but every time I play them on Diety)
So basicly "I can not5 confirm or denie the presence of Mumbles located in the English territory" ;)

A rather legendary UK radio DJ is also prone to pronouncing it in the French manner, although more from whimsy than confusion.

Shame on you people. You all have computers connected to the internet yet you couldn't find out about The Mumbles? It took this Yank less than three minutes to discover that The Mumbles is (are?) in Glamorgan, Wales. Swansea, about 5 miles (8 km) away, is a major suburb of The Mumbles. Here's a photograph:

Photo aside, you're saying pretty much the same as the second person to reply did...

Considering the fact that 'Brandenburg' (A German region, not a city) was included in the German city list

While there are oodles of errors in the city name list, Brandenburg is in fact a German city near Berlin, IIRC second biggest of the federal state with the same name, and that state was named for the city, since it was of historical importance for that region (later Prussia)

But why Firaxis picked a 75 000 inhabitants city, aside the name rather unknown even in Germany, while we have about 100 cities bigger than this, that is as strange as including Königsberg (no longer German, and never really big), or Leipzig as city #2.
