Yeah, that's about right.
How bored must you be to load games over-and-over just to have something for this thread...
Naw Portugal is dead. They collapsed with only two cities as my vassal.
I am currently playing a game close to the Spanish strategy I posted earlier in the strategy post.
It is the luckiest game I ever had :
I could hurry the spiral Minaret,
the Nativity was pre built in Rome,
Astronomy popped from the first hut i visited,
I captured Sistine Chapel and Sankore in Paris.
With such a head start (particularly popping Astronomy, e.g. getting Conquistadors / Frigates / Rifle some 17 turns earlier than usual) I could collapse France / Dutch / England without any problem. They never set a foot in America.
Seeing how my stability was solid after I conquered the Inca and the Atzec, I decided something ambitious: lets see how big an empire I can build.
I switched to Resettlement and started spamming settlers all over North America, South America and the British Islands.
The Spanish empire currently counts 24 cities : Lisboa, Barcelona, Lèon, Granada, Rome, Paris, London, Dundee and Dublin in Europe; Conception de Chile, Limatambo, Cuzco, Tucume, Caracas, Belèm, Montevideo in South America, Cartagenas de las Indias and Chichen Itza in Central America; Ciudad of Mexico, Chihuahua, Nueva Orleans, Wichita, Detroit, and one city on west coast in North America. I was solid for a long time and just became stable with the founding of the last 3 cities. I am still running 80% science.
I achieved my best Spanish UHV (Churchill) and kept playing.
New York will join my empire as soon as America is crushed and I plan 3 more cities in South America. That will make 28 cities, the biggest empire I ever made in RFC (I never played for conquest or domination yet), engulfing most fertile land of North America and all of South America, the British Islands, France, Italy and Spain. Let's see how long I can keep it stable.
Why don't you post a screen shot?
I tried but couldn't cancel open borders. How do you do that?
The Peace Treaty concept in BTS - You can't attack someone for 10 turns after you make a deal with them and you can't cancel the deal for 10 turns.
yeah, so how do you sign open borders when a civ spawns, and unsign them the very same turn?
We need screenshots, like this one:
You can colonize this area in Americas and Philipines without problems, look at minimap.
The rest will give you stability penalties.
I later settled the Cape Horn with Ushuaia AND Rio Gallegos and then the Inca respawned with riflemen...
The Inca's and Aztecs always respawn sooner or later...
Save the game in WB as WB file, modify the file in your saves to remove any mention of the current peace treaty, then play the save. Ok, it's cheating, but it works.
Seems pretty complicated to remove a civ that can't even hurt you...
Just wait like 5 turns until their units move away from Amsterdam declare and raise/take the city. I do it about every game i play as a European.
Except if you play as the Dutch I assume?
That would be interesting to see, actually.
ok, so it's not exploting, it's dicrectly cheating.
Nothing to fix
no then i make Copenhagen my capitol gift Amsterdam to France and take it from them
Wrong thread, but why would you kill the nice Dutch who will let you steal guilds and engineering from them, now that you can't squat on Breme?
OK, the Vikings could carry their longboats onto land, but this is insane!
Guess how it happened before reading this:
The Dutch had these boats (I think) in that Viking city, the vikings got the city when the Dutch collapsed, so that probabily moved the boats somehow. And yes, Babylon somehow survived this long .
I suppose the presence of Charles Town is the main point, for I have run hundreds of starts and never seen a city at this tile at all
