This is a silly post. But I was just curious to see if anyone else liked the ONLY feature of Civ3 that I liked -- the fact that the leaders changed appearance and costumes as the eras progressed! :) I know a lot of people said it was silly but I really liked imagining what some ancient leaders might have looked like in the modern era.

Even though it would take 100000 extra man hours that doesn't exist, I kinda wished Civ5 did that too. :) Who wouldn't want to be on that art team? With a full screen environment you could have so much fun imagining the trappings of each leader in each era. People who found it silly could turn it off.

Anywyas, obvs this will never happen but just curious to see if anyone else agreed.

I quite enjoyed seeing Shaka Zulu in a business suit. :D

It would be awesome to see it in ciV but it is highly unlikely that we'll ever see that feature. :(

Maybe some very talented modder/artist will tackle this.

My favorite was the gray-haired Brennus with spectacles.

Yeah. It would be great actually. Imagine the military uniforms on Napoleon and Bismarck!

That was priceless, as was Tokugawa wearing formal European black, bowtie and top hat in the Industrial era. On the other hand, if a modder managed to make that happen, they would deserve some sort of reward.

Thats one of the things I wished for when CiV was announced, it would be awesome if a modder did that.

My favorite was Hannibal in his bowler hat.

I miss being able to capture ships.

Haha I'm so glad other people feel the same way! I thought I was alone in this!

While this will obviously never happen, the least Firaxis could do is program it so that a modder COULD do this if they wanted to (i.e., each leader "changes" depiction in each era, but in the current game it would just be the same thing for each). If that happened, then a modder with plenty of time on their hands could do this. :)

Quick, aspiring video game artists --- get to work! ;)

Agreed. This would be about the only thing. Maybe a simple spy unit would be good though too.

I was seriously hoping this would be in civ5. It only makes sense. It seems silly to have some guy running around in his underwear in the year 2020.

Its considerably harder to make era specfic 3d fullscreen living enviroments for each leader than it is to do it for the 2d popups in civ 3.

Of course. That's why I am very doubtful that it would ever happen. It certainly would be DLC that I would pay for if they did it though. :D

I liked the feature in Civ III too (though it was sometimes a little silly), but I don't think it would fit well with the new leader dynamic.

Yeah, I enjoyed that in CivRev. I especially liked how your science advisor started with a star-spangled wizard's cap and ended up in a labcoat.
