The Beatles were very poppy. Not talent required, though, huh?

Well, Im a pretty smart guy and I listen to metal, but I cant stand the screaming or cookie monster lyrics, that just hurts my ears, I didnt really start to appreciate it though until I started playing guitar.

Actually I just read this article else where and it said something like of the kids that do well in school, 1/3 say they have "hard rock" as one their 5 favourite music genres, which sounds like below average, I bet 8 out of 10 average kids say they have metal as one of their top 5 genres.

So maybe it should be: smart kids dont listen as much to metal as regular kids.

I listen to classical and metal. Best of both worlds. I also listen to some rap, and everything in between.

But primarily I listen to metal and classical.

I'm not into death metal too much. Anything heavier than Sepultura I'm not into very much. Though dying fetus is kind of cool. And I kind of like lamb of god. But all their songs kinda sound the same. I also like cradle of filth. But I'm not into any of the real black metal stuff. I mainly listen to thrash metal. I grew up in the 80's. And the big 4 were my thing. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. Along with Iron Maiden, those were the primary styles I liked.

As for classical, I like most things except solo piano works. Pianos are overrated. I especially love pipe organ stuff.

Well, i listen to some metal too. And me very smart. :D I listen to almost all genres (inferior ones and pseudo-genres excluded of course).
The smart people i know listen to:
    person A: trance, house
person B: dance (clubbin music  )
    person C: trance, house
    person D: heavy metal only

That's the smartest people in the Informatics class.

But as a group, i noticed people who are good at math listen to metal or some sort of rock.

Now guess which group of people listen to rap, go on guess ? :p

Now mirc has to guess which groups of people listent to something inferior even to rap. :D

True, the rap crowd is ********.(but not nearly as bad as another crowd) I'm not insulting anyone btw, you know what they say that a group of people's inteligence is = to 1/2 of the average IQ.
Because it basically, generaly and undoutably sucks.

But rejoyce - it can be a lot worse i assure you. :)

A highly un-scientific survey of the students at the department says:

when you are older than 15 (mentally speaking), you don't give a crap what music others are listening to.

    Obviously.

Except insofar as common musical tastes can lead to lending/borrowing CDs, suggestions of more or less related stuff to check out, finding buddies to go to concerts with, etc.

Or maybe Apocalyptica. Which started out as a cello quartet doing Metallica covers. Really raw Metallica covers.

I have never heard that smart people should dislike music. In fact it seems the smarter you get, the more interested in music you get. Of all the people I know in R/L, only the dumb ones doesn't listen to music.

OK go listen to a song called "Dear Mama" by 2Pac and come back and tell me if it is music. If your still not convinced, listen to "Changes". And also while your at it, why ISN'T rap music.
