The images of people clinging to and falling from the plane as Americans fled are infinity worse than the enduring image of the helicopter above the embassy in Saigon. No one should ever forget it.

Apparently top army commanders sold off everything they could: ammo, food, supplies and fuel. No wonder the Afgan National Army folded like a house of cards.

söz meclisten dışarı is a phrase when the word you does not exactly mean you , or something

your people on the ground were apparently high in happiness about two weeks ago , promising something would happen in 9 months . From the joy on the locals' faces , this must mean you were delaying things until the next summer . Your urgency then apparently leads to heroism or whatever , about how New Turkey rules the roost , everything , everywhere , everytime . Oh , ı know , it was equally funny for your side right from the first moment of it . Indeed ı even heard State Department announcements that your troops were defending the airport side by side with the Army of Petrol , no doubt put forward by actual State Department people , now in the trenches or something . But then it wasn't me who leaked it out for the laughs . Nor it was the old bunch of guys , whom the Party still decided to declare anti-Congregation , despite their massive win in the Disgrace of July 15th . They are not offended . It has happened in numbers you would be hard pressed to accept ...

still laughing after having engineered Taliban's easy march ... ? Still bent on your plans ? Fine ! Everyday you stall , whatever advantage you might have got loses some of its potency . American Fascism will be marching on the White House . Maybe , you are a "Patriot" ? Your hurt will be worse , after discovering your kind of people are nothing like you supposed them to be , will see how many people behave when they fancy they have the jail free card . Perhaps you are a son of thousand fathers in all senses of the word ? You will get your own medicine , get it from things you can't handle ; instead of stuff you think you know inside out . Your people are 10 times worse , you think they would be good natured ? Indeed let me remind you of the times when some Langley boy talked in this very forum , despite my unworthiness , on how people would never appreciate me acting in their name . And just remember this thing happening right in front of your eyes , and just how viable your finest are , when they face anything halfway real . However improbable , we will indeed cut our losses with regards to America , one day . Leave no one behind ? ı can't remember where ı saw that but supposedly some British official gave some interview almost in tears about how some of their people will not be coming back , instead of ruffling some feathers of their pets in Qatar . American exceptionalism is as fake as the average breast in a certain line of business .

I mean if a lost cause fallacy develops America could very well become fascist. Sort of like Weimar Germany after WW1.

Al Jazeera is going on about the Afghanistan Papers, and how we knew in 2019 that they always knew the war was unwinnable and lied to the public. They are saying they did the same when they said no Saigon.

[EDIT] Here is a screen shot from AJ, one of the Taliban with guns is casually pointing his gun at the head Taliban. You would never see that with the US leader.

Spoiler Never ever let a gun pointed be at anyone :

Also, Biden is speaking. Taking more about trump than the people losing their lives hanging off his planes. Now he is talking about using devastating force if the airport is threatened?

I'm surprised we didn't fly people out of Kabul, the NVA/VC weren't gonna wait but it looks like the Taliban were willing

I admit I was skeptical about the Taliban victory, but you were right Caketastydelish.

Most everyone I talk to is surprised at just how fast it happened this weekend.

Here is President Biden on July 8th:

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley said on July 21 that an automatic Taliban military takeover was not a foregone conclusion.
    @0:48

Secretary of State Blinken thought we'd still have an embassy on July 28th.

Is the American leadership angry enough right now to start a new war?
    Probably not.
    Trump might have.

Ya, watching people fall like that hundreds of meters and perishing.

In Biden's speech, he talked about the anguish of journalists but not of the people of Afghanistan. In 2014 John Kerry put Ashraf Ghani in place, and today Biden blamed the Afghan people for that.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the whole speech, but he also tweeted out that the original mission in Afghanistan, regarding al Qaeda, was accomplished a decade ago. If the mission was completed a decade ago, why did he and Obama keep it going? Hard to see much of a difference between withdrawing 10 years ago vs now

I have only just heard of the the Afghanistan Papers, it seems they are saying it is documented that we knew this would happen ten years ago. Anyone you knew anything about Afghanistan knew this would happen before we went in. Up there in damaging phrases, "This time it will be different".

Cause the original goal was nation building back then, contrary to what Biden is saying now.

The government wasn't paying its troops or police in months, the Taliban actually paid them, and they melt away.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2021/08/15/afghanistan-military-collapse-taliban/

The US was giving the Afghan government plenty of money, and it has its own revenues. It just never got down to the common troops, all taken by corruption.

But this started up a year and a half ago, and yet the Blob and Military wasn't saying anything about the Afghan forces crumbling for want of pay, and deep demoralisation.

Biden fought against the Surge and wanted to leave. But the Vice President has as much power as the President decides, which in this case, was none.

Anyway, Conservatives are totally having a normal one.

Diversity is to blame for the fall of Afghanistan, says Orthodox Larper

Also, people have been complaining about how diverse Afghanistan is for 20 years.

Open admiration of the Taliban by Y'all Qaeda

A failure of epic proportions. Hmmm, I wonder who is to blame.

Just like with Vietnam, it's going to become a fairly common conservative belief that the Left and traitorous media, stabbed the brave troops in the back. Despite the media largely being one of the biggest pushers of staying at all cost, as a quick look at all the editorialising from supposed straight news, shows.

History repeats itself. People say society does not develop in a linear fashion, but times like these prove at least American society is linear ( or rather more like a snake coiled in on itself devouring it's own tail).

As I pointed out upthread somewhere, this "plenty of money" was just over $4k/soldier year when the US spends just under $600k/soldier year.
