 Is there any reason that I do not know of that you refered to yourself as Knight-Dragon?

I do distinctly remember you having Singapore as your location, and you have great knowledge about the history of Singapore. I must conclude that, if you are not from Singapore, you live there. :p
Knight-Dragon is my older handle. I work and live here, but am actually fr across the border, fr Malaysia.

If you keep telling a Canadian who works and lives in the States that 'he's fr the USA', well, you get the gist of it. ;)

Ok, but I find your original post rather confrontational to say the least...

Apologies on my part too.
Yes I admit I was quite harsh - but that was only intended on the matter, not in any way ad hominem. Sorry!
At the end of the day, you'll have to merely convince TF and us mods will carry out his action.

Or alternatively convince a group of mods (one is a bit light, unless he or she can be pretty influential), to carry your POVs into Staff, where the plans are conceptualized and executed.

Whichever works. ;)
I think it also works out (since I have no intention to dictate my will) if mods read what posters think, then just bear that in mind if they feel it is relevant. There is no need for a ruling or order or whatever by TF about this thread perhaps having slightly (!) laxer rules than other.

Thanx for taking the time to talk this out, btw!

If you would have actually read my post you might have seen that I think this is part of the problem. In former times the mods could still participate in the forums as well, simply because pretty much everyone exept a small minority of what you can call troublemakers if you like knew how to deal with others without offending them too much.

You might have noticed that the rules and regulations have always been extended, not reduced. So this result is only logical.

And the point still stands, the rolleyes at the end of that quote is to me as much offensive as if you would have added one of those awful words to it. Probably more, as such a word would simply express your anger, which you shouldn't have to deny, while the second is more patronizing and thus more offensive.

We are part of the forums, we see how they develop, over the years we've seen different ways of doing it and different outcomes. I find it amusing that you think we're not capable of having an opinion on it.

;)
By gosh, you're right! :bounce:

I've sort of realized that myself and have asked TF to relegate me to merely moderate the History forum, which is where I post pretty much.

Naturally my request was politely denied... :(

pity - you'd be gone from here and we'd be free to spam and swear as we please....

j/k!

I must say the higher number of mods in OT, especially, has really improved the forum.

So mods are so very busy taking things in context and handing out warnings and bans that they cannot post here for lack of time in the day? This is not true. Now whether they have time to post HERE or somewhere else is a choice they make but modding this here site has nothing to do with it.

As for reporting posts... I did report one but I must have taken it OUT of context whereas my post WAS taken in context. Same word that makes my old title so very offensive but a wink smiley makes it passable I guess. Context, whim, whatever.

Have at it folks. TF makes the decisions, the mods follow his will. Follow the rules and all will be fine. This is not a democracy, but TF does listen.

but CFC is an international forum and Holland is part of it. Or are only Americans allowed to speak? last time I check - no! ;)
Asians are even more polite-obssessive than anyone else on this planet. ;)

Unfortunately, we have moderatiors who - so feel some posters - can't handle the problems properly. AS we ahve trust in you people we'll talk to you if we feel so. If that bothers you - you have the wron forum - again, last time I checked!
At present, all our mods can handle any problems properly... I've the fullest confidence in my fellow mods, having slaved alongside them for many moons. :ack:

Which is why we bother to waste our time posting this stuff here. ;)

Does he know some dirty secrets about you or what? You always make it seem as if he would force you to do this. ;)

Where have you been? :hammer:

Is Star Ocean 3 out yet?

He's a very nice fellow. I find it hard to say no to him... :hmm:

I'm weak-willed against nice people.

I was away for about three months or so, came back, quoted CGannon taking the Lord's name in vain in this here thread, which surprised me as I remember him from OT, and said "What is the world coming to?" which resulted in a TWO day ban for quoting him. That's where I been.

SO3... August? September? I dunno.

My earlier remarks were simply my view of how to improve this forum. If most people think profanity should be dealt with in a fierce way, let them say so. I happen to think it is better to let it go a bit.

I guess TF will decide whatever he decides, but I think any input can be helpful.

am i the only one who feels like this thread is getting too warm and fuzzy? (can it be modersated for that?)

poster A: I respect your thoughts, ideas and feelings
poster B: oh no, non, no, no, no. I respect your thoughts, ideas and feelings
poster C: oh no, non, no, no, no. I respect your thoughts, ideas and feelings
poster D: Group hug !!!

:vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

I never hugged K-D! ;)

Neither Stapel nor carlos.

Actually some sort of politeness is exactly all that's needed to prevent the need for all those rules...

Its usually a good sign in a debate when people reach at least some sort of understanding with each other...

Or a sign of a wash and nothing was accomplished.

What's wrong with hugging KD/XIII? He's a lovable guy. I'd hug him. ;)

Hopefully this one works better.

And sometimes they don't even bother to read it all and put it all in context but warn/ban/kick(chatroom) because of past users actions and always assume its them....

This is utterly ridiculous.

So we may still swear, just not use certain words?

The intend is still the same, unless of course "gosh darned" is New Zealand dialect for "very".

The point is that many people use swear words purely as intensifiers. 'Gosh' is an intensifier, yet it is not an obscenity. Ditto for darned.

And yes, gosh darned is (in my experience) a reasonably common polite alternative used where others may choose to use a swear word. In the sentenced I used, I could have used 'very', or I could have left it out altogether.

What I am trying to convey is that I think it is possible for people to make their points without swearing. Either use non-offensive words, or leave the intensifiers / certain adjectives out altogether.

If the concern is as to which words you can use and which you can't; then there are some that are pretty obvious. Anything in the grey area will, unfortunately, have to be looked at in terms of its context. Seeing as the automatic bans for swearing are gone, then grey-area words won't attract a ban, and only conituned use of the obvious ones (or deliberate bypasses) will.
