Pretty much any modern machine can handle dozens of browser tabs open at once.

Agree, didn't want to be insensitive to folks on older machines. Also, not sure how much ipad and other mobile devices figure into the user base. :D

This These. Subscriptions are a way of life for me now. It helps me sift through the many topics to just the ones I'm interested in.

Subscribing to forums produces some weird effects when you also auto-subscribe to threads you post in. CFC's forum subscription is delayed, and the thread subscription doesn't check if you're subscribed to the forum as well, so it's possible to get a forum subscription notification when there's nothing new if the only new posts are in a thread you auto-subscribed to when posting (though this isn't likely to happen in one of the main forums it happens all the time since I subscribed to the Star Trek Mod forum).

I don't even know if ipads and such have tabbed browsing. However, any PC from the last several years should be able to handle having a couple of dozen (or so) tabs up, and if it can't it is past time to replace it.

It's running much faster now though. Faster than yesterday I mean.

Doesn't it go down every week at that time for planned maintenance?

    well yeah, but 4 hours??

It starts at 9 (+1 GMT= 2 EST) o'clock and then CFC is off for a while. A few months ago it always happened on Tuesdays but the site was down for only 1 hour max 1,5 hour. Recently the site has been down for 3 hours or more.

While I'm typing this I realize this could be because they are searching for the reason of the recent downtime?

Is it just me, or are the forums not displaying new posts (including my own) for something like a day?

No, wait, it's only after I post in the threads.

Sorry if this is a double post, but, well, I can't see my previous post or anything after :p. :)

EDIT: Oddly enough, post-posting this, I can. But only, presumably, in this thread. :dunno:

Try clearing your cookies. That seems to solve a few problems.

I tried. It doesn't solve that one, apparently. It's not for as long anymore though, which is nice.

Could have something to do with the fact that I use 3 different computers pretty regularly to check the boards?

I don't know. There were several problems similar to that in the days following the database outage last week. But after a few days and a lot of cookie clearing, the problem has not reoccurred for me, nor have I seen anyone other than you complain about it further. :dunno:
