The local faithfuls of Satan in Oklahoma have proposed a statue to be built, in the spirit of co-existence of all religions in the US of A :)

The following drawing was given as the illustration of the idea for the statue:

pls think of the satanic children said:
The New York-based Satanic Temple formally submitted its application to a panel that oversees the Capitol grounds, including an artist's rendering that depicts Satan as Baphomet, a goat-headed figure with horns, wings and a long beard that's often used as a symbol of the occult. In the rendering, Satan is sitting in a pentagram-adorned throne with smiling children next to him.

"The monument has been designed to reflect the views of Satanists in Oklahoma City and beyond," temple spokesman Lucien Greaves said in a statement. "The statue will also have a functional purpose as a chair where people of all ages may sit on the lap of Satan for inspiration and contemplation."

The Satanic Temple maintains that the Oklahoma Legislature's decision to authorize a privately funded Ten Commandments monument at the Capitol opened the door for its statue. The Ten Commandments monument was placed on the north steps of the building in 2012, and the Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union has sued to have it removed.

I am not sure why Satan in that drawing has the symbol of Hermes? (the two snakes united over a staff). Anyway, what do you think of this new quest for more freedom? :)
(and it appears that the boy in the drawing looks somewhat like a known US president :hmm: ).

It's a baseless publicity act. There's no first amendment basis around arguing against a monument. It doesn't mean "congress has passed a law" making people observe it, nor has anyone made any law prohibiting satanists to be satanists. If you don't believe in it (commandments), you still know what it is and what it represents to whom, but it does not obligate you to observe it.

Hey, in the end, if the law's misinterpreted and someone, somewhere is allowed to erect such a satan monument, I will guarantee you 100% that monument will not stay there. Someone, somewhere will "remove" it. I'm certain the main concern at this point is protecting the satanists, kinda like the stress Westboro places on law enforcement.

edit: edited for clarity

I lol'd...no but really I'd sit on Satan's lap.

I often am baffled when Christians will try to preach the Ten Commandments when Jesus's Two Commandments are so, so much better. Vastly clearer. Vastly more universal. They're also just superior as moral commandments.

If they're going to allow one religious structure on the premises, they should have to allow this one. It seems to have been designed with good taste in mind, no reason they should be able to say "no, go away" without seeming to favour one religion over another.

Oklahoma passed a law, now lets see how badly they want the Ten Commandments up.

I can honestly say that if this gets built, I'd be fine with a terrorist act to destroy it.

Why? People are legally using an Oklahoma law to put up a monument.
WHY DO YOU HATE STATES RIGHTS!!!!!!

I thought you support freedom of religion??

I normally do. Wiccans, new-agists, animists, christians, buddhists, muslims, shinto..ists?, jews, sihks, etc. You name it man, I'm there for 'em. But this is Satan, so yeah I draw a line. I mean, come on, that's almost as bad as Scientology.

:( I wanted to have a Great Satan of in the West.
It will make those Islamists rants amusing if I pretend they are talking about a statue in Oklahoma.

Isn't Pelosi from California??
Somehow, I never conceived of Pelosi as a Fallen Angel. Somehow, I expected Lucifer, the Lord of Hell, to be a bit more terrifying and face-melty rather than looking like a surprised owl.

Are we trying to one-up Europe? Being the first to erect statues of the Lord of Secular Materialism?

Actually, he was the most beautiful. The Morning Star (Sorry, no offense meant, Luthien) outshown all others.
