    (cont'd)

T5: 1775 AD Monty won't talk to us right now.

I have started research on MT, looks like about 3 or 4T. We can also run to Assembly Line via Corp + Steam. Corp and Steam will take ~9T, and then Ass'y Line about 11T. I'd like team input before I go for MT as some might not see any value in Cav's.

I decide to go with MT, just so we can add some mobility to the rifle corps.

IBT: Seville Grenader -> Grenader; Madrid rifle -> rifle

    T6: 1780 AD nada

IBT: Toledo rifle -> rifle; Santiago galleon -> galleon; Murcia Lib -> court

T7: 1785 AD Move a worker over to the island as there's only one there now.

IBT: Cordoba galleon -> Nat Epic; Hurrian galleon -> Lib

T8: 1790 AD moving new Galleons to Barcelona

IBT: MT -> Steam; Salamanca court -> harbor

T9: 1795 AD Sell MT to Liz for Constitution + 50g; Revolt, takes a turn off Steam (6T vs 7)

    IBT: Madrid rifle -> cav

T10: 1800 AD New Rifle from Madrid heads for Cordoba

We are now up to 7 galleons, 5 rifles, 6 Grenaders. Probably need a few more Cav's to compliment the force.

We will get another GP in Cordoba in 2T.

JC's cities look very tempting. Maybe we should backstab him, as his territory is the only one that makes sense for us right now and it's an easy hop from Cordoba to Arretium.

    Turn 271 (1802 AD)
Monte is only a half turnset away and is realy vulnerable and really greedy. His idea of a peace treaty deal is a 420 gold coin payment. Nuts to that.

So it is sail ho! for Montezuma's lands for a little troop training.

Barcelona finishes Drydock and starts a frigate

    Seville equips a Grenadier

Dante Alighieri (Great Artist) born in Cordoba. I spend him on most of Democracy

    Turn 272 (1804 AD)

Sink a pesky Aztec caravel threatening the food supply at Cordoba

Hurrian begins building a Drydock. We are going to need lots of ships!!!

Santiago equips a Hindu Missionary to go and convert some Englishman. I decide to dedicate a full Galleon to that task and really want to keep up the ferry service. The shrine income will make a big difference when we start paying for overseas troops

    IBT:

    Turn 273 (1806 AD)
Frigate promoted to Combat I then sails back into the straits and sinks another one.

And Monte's idea of a peace treaty is a hoot

He opens the bidding with paper! But will settle for Theology

    Madrid equips a Cavalry
    Kushans finishes Lighthouse

    IBT:
Hinduism spreads to Dortmund (German Empire) Cha-Ching!!!

    Turn 274 (1808 AD)
Kushans begins building a Theatre to get us the sixth for the Globe at Cordoba.

    IBT:

    Turn 275 (1810 AD)
    Salamanca begins building a Forge
Make a landing on the Aztec shore. The rifles are singing something about the Halls of Montesuma while the conquistadores are muttering "Where is Hernan, Hernan is not here"

And Monte's price for peace has come down some

Learn Steam Power and put the finish on Democracy

Barcelona equips a Frigate, the first of many for the Roman expedition

    IBT:
Meanwhile Saladin sorties a Caravel into our single ship blockade and gets is sunk

    Turn 276 (1812 AD)
    Caravel promoted to Combat I
    Monte's reinforcements appear.

so it is time to go to work then get the heck out of there

While attacking, 1st Rifle of Seville (Rifleman) loses to Aztec Longbowman (0.72/6)
While attacking, Grenadier loses to Aztec Maceman (2.72/8)

The opening strikes after bombardment are not encouraging then success comes and the way is opened for the Conquistadors

While attacking, Grenadier defeats (7.92/12) Aztec Pikeman
While attacking, Grenadier defeats (12.00/12) Aztec Maceman
While attacking, Conquistador defeats (10.00/10) Aztec Longbowman

    Razed Xochicalco

Then take his money and run

    Madrid finishes Bank

    IBT:

    Turn 277 (1814 AD)

That little excursus to Azteca got us the trooper experience needed for the Heroic Epic which is going up in Seville

And Saladin attempted again to sail out of Baghdad but for some reason and the blockading caravel notches another kill.

He has no frigates in port and is unwilling to risk his loaded galleons against a lone caravel

    IBT:

    Turn 278 (1816 AD)
Hurrian starts a Frigate. Did I say we will need a fleet of frigates for coastal bombardment and landing force protection?

Learn Democracy and implement the civics for the output boost and to make the neighbors feel some of that Emancipation pain while we study on bringing its benefits to them, and queue up the Statue of Liberty in Madrid. And I want to preserve the population for drafting, anyway.

    IBT:

    Turn 279 (1818 AD)
    Madrid equips a Cavalry
    Seville grows to 17
    Murcia grows to 12

    IBT:

    Turn 280 (1820 AD)
Seville begins building a Aqueduct as it gets unhealthy
Hinduism spreads to Liverpool (English Empire)
Rome has dropped another town in the corner of the east island.

So some of the returning troops from the Mexican expedition get dropped off there. The borders of that first town have finally expanded so the Romans are now working up the iron.

I queued some stuff into Seville after the Epic, a 'duct, a grocer and then the Iron Works. We can slot West Point into Madrid, the Globe into Cordoba and still have room for Wall Street in Madrid. Make any changes to that plan as deemed necessary

The Hindu trio is now in Engalnd and Liverpool is now in the Hindu fold. The other two are heading for the other town on that island and the ship is waiting offshore to pick up any survivors.

The Red Haired Virgin Queen is a bosom buddy so I sell her some silks for her avaiable cash flow

Steam or Steel will get us Corporation for Wall Street from Liz. We need to count banks before making that deal. And Madrid is tied up building the Statue of Liberty for about the next twenty turns or so, anyway.

Alternating troops and ships from the coastal towns with barracks and drydocks, and troops from Seville will give us a nice expeditonary force very quickly when combined with the survivors of the Aztec raid. Just before hitting Caesar we should switch to Nationhood and start drafting from the high population, high food towns.

Corporation and Assembly Line are the only two techs of any importance right now but Seville can train what we need in 4 turns (2 turns with the Heroic Epic - done in 1) so I shut down the research to get some money together for upgrades and rushed building purchases (SoL and the Globe in Cordoba)

The diplomatic arena is pretty much in our favor right now, any who matter are "Pleased". We are still behind the curve in military power but that should change soon as our count of men under arms goes up and besides it is quality not quantity that counts.

Pre-turn: OK ready to roll with the upgrades.

IT Start Globe in Cordoba and frigates and military most everywhere else. I did start a bank.
1822 Upgrade some cannons and a maceman. Will upgrade a few more next turn. Trade Liberalism for 700g with Caesar since he's the only one without it.

IT Finally, an Arabian frigate comes in and sinks our caravel. There were 8 frigates in Baghdad but it took one from somewhere else to move our cavavel.
1824 Upgrade some elephants, cats and conquistadors.

1826 Load ships for JC. Still can't get peace from Saladin.

IT Our probing Frigate is sunk by a Arab frigate.

OK I'm going to stop here. Are we sure we should go at JC now? He has dyes and I think we'll have some WW issues right off the bat. He looks pretty easy to roll over but I just hate angry citizens and Saladin won't make peace. Now that his galleons can come out of Baghdad I wonder if he'll use them.
