Do you ever place a Commercial Hub next to a river and a harbor and get giddy seeing the +5 gold appear? I bet you have.
You know what's cooler than 5 gold? 51 gold.
Last night I posted a thread about creating the ultimate Hansa. Back by popular demand, your resident fanatic followed a suggestion to repeat this with the Suguba. So I did. This focuses on the suguba but I also tried to get close to perfect holy sites using desert folklore.
By surrounding a Suguba with Holy Sites, you can get +12 gold from the HSs, +3 from being surrounded by 6 districts, and +2 more if you happen to be on a river. Slot Town Charters and Reyna with harbormaster and you're off to the races. I'm also in a Free Inquiry golden age (medieval) to get science for suguba adjacency.
Because this is achievable so early, here's the Empire Lens view of the region around this Suguba:
I just got into the industrial and was able to slap up Ruhr valley and a coal plant. I had only just repaired everything after the Haboob got me good. Just at the tail end of a medieval golden age (Unlike the german game on emperor, I did this on prince to reduce my stress; the classical golden age got me so much science from Free Inquiry I rocketed way ahead.) Aren't those southern oases cute?
The Hansa thread details how to layout districts and cities to make one of these: just replace hansa with Suguba and CH with Holy Site, its the same thing. As you can imagine it's pretty profitable. If you don't care as much about HS adjacency, you can really do this anywhere there's open space (and hopefully a loopy river.)
And unlike the Hansa version, both of these districts come super early. You can slam them down in the classical and with 1 promotion of reyna, have a 34 gold suguba inside of 100 turns. And a bunch of +7 sugubas if you get them on a river.
We've attached the Mansa Musa Caboosa to the gold train. Next stop: Hype Central Station
