Chapter 5 (cont)
With the destruction of nearly a third of America's standing forces Tupac had opened the door to not only the completion of Operation Take Iron, but in fact had allowed for the establishment of new, more extensive objectives. Tupac realised that victory not only at Philadelphia but San Francisco further north would open up miles of fertile territory for his people, as well as providing a springboard for further attacks. A hastily assembled force of retrained regular warriors and a handful of veteren swords was ordered to make the strike on San Francisco. The retrained warriors, rather uncomfortable with the use of swords, fared poorly, with 3 whole groups falling to the American spearmen. However the others rallied around the success of their veteran comrades and in the end the garrison was defeated and the city torched, this opened up not only additional land territory but strengthed Tupac's control of the sea south of the English peninsula.
Meanwhile, the majority of the original forces from Operation Take Iron were recuperating, and so Tupac opted to deploy his strategic reserve of 15 swordsmen to Philadelphia. His reasoning being that a crushing victory over the American's at Philadelphia would not only shorten the war, but would negate the defensive need for the strategic reserve. They were met by an elite band of swordsmen whose companies were still in sufficient numbers to join in the assault. In the end losses were minimal and the American's succumbed with suprising ease. What disturbed Tupac however was the lead defensive company had been a band of warriors with shiny new weapons... weapons that the American's called Muskets...
It didn't matter however as an elite swordsmen group was able to defeat the American muskets in a single assault allowing the others to deal with the American Pikemen.
The Hanging Garden's burnt suprisingly well...
This victory gave Tupac substantial leverage in negotiating peace... which was good because America had new armoured horsemen in the field... Tupac took this opportunity of peace to make a bit of a technological jump toward parity.
Tupac knew America still had forces in his territory from a botched landing at Wheatopia on the English border and he suspected that Abe would not withdraw these troops for some time. Tupac planned a little diplomatic tinkering...
In the meantime however he was able to begin offensive efforts in England.
A susbstantial force of swordsmen, the new longbows, and pikemen moved toward's one of England's only two remaining significant cities... Coventry. Coventry was still defended by spearmen and the battle was very much a formality, resulting in a total victory for Tupac and his men.
However Tupac's claims that 'We need only kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come tumbling down!' proved incorrect. England did not sue for peace, in fact if anythign their efforts were redoubled, more and more English troops began to move into the disputed territory. Tupac was in fact forced to make something of a withdrawal until additional forces could be made available. Somehow England had acquired iron and a group of warriors under the 'Chivalric Code' of someone called King Arthur (Tupac assumed it was Lizzie's secret lover) began to play a major role in the English military.
However, while this was unexpected and created a serious weakness in his battle plans he had to press on, he could not allow the actions of his opponents to alter his plans. He demanded Abe withdraw his troops immediately and Abe declined.
Immediate victories of the tiny garrisons of newly built towns provided Tupac and his men with the confidence to go for their major target... Washington!
However before Tupac could even contemplate that he received some... rather alarming news...
Tupac hadn't even noticed signs of conflict... he would have to be wary...
Nonetheless his main assault force was assembled for a strike on Washington. When they set out they were 15 swordsmen, 5 archers and 5 pikemen. But the road to Washington was long and treacherous and they were assailed by American knights and longbows the entire way. The force which finally reached Washington after 3 turns of travel... was much depleted.
The Battle of Washington would long be remembered by Tupac's people as their finest military moment of their pre-industrial history. The Grand Army of Tupac, weakened by constant harrasment and lack of supply lines met with a fiercely stoic and patriotic resistance by the American forces at Washington but it was to no avail. Tupac's warriors, inspired by a rousing battle speech from their great King fell upon the American's with unnatural ferocity and even the new American muskets could not save the millenia old city. By the evening of the ninth day of the battle the great palace of America hosted a fabulous meal for the invading forces before it, like the Great Library and the rest of the city, burned into the pages of history...
With the loss of his capital and so much crucial territory Abe was forced to submit to Tupac's might. He had no bargaining position when it came to peace and Tupac demanded their most prized military secrets at a judicious discount.
This technology, which had been exclusively known to America was then traded around openly by Tupac.

With their only ally out knocked out of the war twice in a few decades England was willing to come to the table with Tupac. While the conditions they offered were not as generous as Tupac had hoped, they were acceptable to him.
And so once againt Tupac had peace on all his frontiers. With the world rapidly changing into one of gunpowder and knights and soon cannons and cavalry, he was preparing for a long summer of peace before he was again forced go to war. An era of understanding and mutual co-operation with foreign nations. But fate it seems, always has something else in mind...
