The Tale of King Tupac

question: is this a pangaea with a island?

btw, nice update. Seems like the Americans are getting a little out-of-hand. :hammer:

Chapter 5 - Operation Take Iron

Tupac Shakur said:
This ain't no game. If this was chess, we'd be yelling checkmate three years ago

America was becoming more and more brash and disrespectful of mighty Tupac.
Repeatedly American troops and naval vessels entered Tupac's lands and continually Abe removed them, yet they would be back not long after.

13americainvadescz6.jpg

Tupac had already lost his technological parity and so he turned once again to America. Love them or hate them they were definately proving important to Tupac.
Having seen critiscm levelled at his subjects in the past for use of the 'two tech steal' exploit, Tupac resolved not to use such a thing if he could help it. Nonetheless it was time for the Tupacian Central Intelligence to make their move.

14americastealla5.jpg

15engineeringgb8.jpg

Engineering had been a monopoly and so Tupac decided to trade it around to whoever had techs or cash.

Babylon: Engineering for Monotheism + 43gp + 2gpt + World Map
Aztecs: Monotheism for 438gp + World Map
China: Engineering for 108gp + 12gpt + World Map

A few years later, the long running trade of silks for iron between Tupac and Abe came to a close. Abe was no longer so polite when dealing with Tupac now.

16nosilks4ironrg3.jpg

Perhaps sensing that Tupac was beginning to become hostile, Abe ordered his Navy to avoid any ventures into Tupacian waters.

17avoidtupacnh2.jpg

Finally Tupac could wait no longer for Abe to provoke a war. If he waited any longer America would have knights, and muskets. He had to do it himself, and he had to act now!

18americawarlr6.jpg

He had amassed a powerful force on the border of New York, there were many archers, swords and a few pikemen for defence. It was the largest force Tupac had ever assembled.
His plans for the war were short, sharp and based on a strict timetable. He needed to take New York, then turn his forces north to Philadelphia in order to relieve cultural pressure on Dear Mama and deprive the American's of their beloved Hanging Gardens. He dubbed the operation 'Operation Take Iron'

19invasionplansgt5.jpg

Unfortunately before Operation Take Iron could get underway, Abe pulled out a suprise for Tupac.

20englishwarpo8.jpg

"Abe you clever devil!" thought Tupac. Tupac had pikemen but no offensive forces on the English border and many English archers and horsemen began to advance on Wheatopia. Tupac was forced to divert much needed forces from Operation Take Iron to the English border to meet this unexpected threat. However Tupac told his people 'England is a fading force, we have fought them before, each time they have emerged weaker and us stronger. We can defeat them again by achieving victory at Canterbury. We need only kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come tumbling down!'

Fortunately there were still sufficient troops to begin Operation Take Iron, whether it could be completed was another matter. Zulu warriors poured toward New York in a vicious two day battle the city was destroyed and the populace either slain or taken as slaves. Four Zulu sword groups died in battle against the massed walls of American pikemen but their sacrifice was not in vain.

21newyorkky1.jpg

And finally the long awaited native source of Iron belonged to Zululand and King Tupac!

22irontownwl6.jpg

Unfortunately the American forces had proven far stronger than anticipated, and with the end of the American-Iroquois war the bulk of the American forces were heading home and they happened to make their way along what used to be their border.

23americancounterqw6.jpg

Tupac's hold on his iron could be much shorter than expected!

Or maybe not.

Tupac issued orders to his troops not to retreat under any circumstances. It was costly and many brave men died but the crucial iron source remained under Tupac's control.

Thank you for the encouragement, its always nice to hear that people enjoy your work. As for the screenshots it would depend on what type of computer you are on. As for me, I am on a Mac so I simply press command+shift+3 which takes a picture of the present screen, i believe there is a command 'print screen' for PC's.
I then convert the picture taken into a .jpg and then use an image editting program (photoshop is ideal), i use goldberg 2.5 (a freeware piece of software) to crop the pictures, I use MS Word to edit the pictures further if I want to.
Then upload the picture with an image hoster like www.imageshack.us and then to display it in a post put the url link from the hoster into tags like this [/ img] but without the space between / and the img.
Hope that helps!

the second part of the chapter, will be posted later today.

thanks a lot! Now I'll be able to write my own story! :)

But of course I'll follow this one........I'll read the second part of the chapter tommorrow, since it's around midnight here

@soul warrior, but I already have a similar programm :)
Thanks a lot anyway!

Chapter 5 (cont)

With the destruction of nearly a third of America's standing forces Tupac had opened the door to not only the completion of Operation Take Iron, but in fact had allowed for the establishment of new, more extensive objectives. Tupac realised that victory not only at Philadelphia but San Francisco further north would open up miles of fertile territory for his people, as well as providing a springboard for further attacks. A hastily assembled force of retrained regular warriors and a handful of veteren swords was ordered to make the strike on San Francisco. The retrained warriors, rather uncomfortable with the use of swords, fared poorly, with 3 whole groups falling to the American spearmen. However the others rallied around the success of their veteran comrades and in the end the garrison was defeated and the city torched, this opened up not only additional land territory but strengthed Tupac's control of the sea south of the English peninsula.

1sanfranrd0.jpg

Meanwhile, the majority of the original forces from Operation Take Iron were recuperating, and so Tupac opted to deploy his strategic reserve of 15 swordsmen to Philadelphia. His reasoning being that a crushing victory over the American's at Philadelphia would not only shorten the war, but would negate the defensive need for the strategic reserve. They were met by an elite band of swordsmen whose companies were still in sufficient numbers to join in the assault. In the end losses were minimal and the American's succumbed with suprising ease. What disturbed Tupac however was the lead defensive company had been a band of warriors with shiny new weapons... weapons that the American's called Muskets...
It didn't matter however as an elite swordsmen group was able to defeat the American muskets in a single assault allowing the others to deal with the American Pikemen.
The Hanging Garden's burnt suprisingly well...

2philamg5.jpg

This victory gave Tupac substantial leverage in negotiating peace... which was good because America had new armoured horsemen in the field... Tupac took this opportunity of peace to make a bit of a technological jump toward parity.

3firstameropeacein7.jpg

Tupac knew America still had forces in his territory from a botched landing at Wheatopia on the English border and he suspected that Abe would not withdraw these troops for some time. Tupac planned a little diplomatic tinkering...

In the meantime however he was able to begin offensive efforts in England.
A susbstantial force of swordsmen, the new longbows, and pikemen moved toward's one of England's only two remaining significant cities... Coventry. Coventry was still defended by spearmen and the battle was very much a formality, resulting in a total victory for Tupac and his men.

4coventryfl5.jpg

However Tupac's claims that 'We need only kick in the door and the whole rotten structure will come tumbling down!' proved incorrect. England did not sue for peace, in fact if anythign their efforts were redoubled, more and more English troops began to move into the disputed territory. Tupac was in fact forced to make something of a withdrawal until additional forces could be made available. Somehow England had acquired iron and a group of warriors under the 'Chivalric Code' of someone called King Arthur (Tupac assumed it was Lizzie's secret lover) began to play a major role in the English military.

However, while this was unexpected and created a serious weakness in his battle plans he had to press on, he could not allow the actions of his opponents to alter his plans. He demanded Abe withdraw his troops immediately and Abe declined.

5amerowar2yz1.jpg

Immediate victories of the tiny garrisons of newly built towns provided Tupac and his men with the confidence to go for their major target... Washington!

5littlecitiesxq3.jpg

However before Tupac could even contemplate that he received some... rather alarming news...

6deadindiapz7.jpg

Tupac hadn't even noticed signs of conflict... he would have to be wary...

Nonetheless his main assault force was assembled for a strike on Washington. When they set out they were 15 swordsmen, 5 archers and 5 pikemen. But the road to Washington was long and treacherous and they were assailed by American knights and longbows the entire way. The force which finally reached Washington after 3 turns of travel... was much depleted.

7losttroopsei1.jpg

The Battle of Washington would long be remembered by Tupac's people as their finest military moment of their pre-industrial history. The Grand Army of Tupac, weakened by constant harrasment and lack of supply lines met with a fiercely stoic and patriotic resistance by the American forces at Washington but it was to no avail. Tupac's warriors, inspired by a rousing battle speech from their great King fell upon the American's with unnatural ferocity and even the new American muskets could not save the millenia old city. By the evening of the ninth day of the battle the great palace of America hosted a fabulous meal for the invading forces before it, like the Great Library and the rest of the city, burned into the pages of history...

9washingtonyk9.jpg

With the loss of his capital and so much crucial territory Abe was forced to submit to Tupac's might. He had no bargaining position when it came to peace and Tupac demanded their most prized military secrets at a judicious discount.

10americapeacevw0.jpg

This technology, which had been exclusively known to America was then traded around openly by Tupac.

Babylon: Gunpowder for Theology + 2gp

With their only ally out knocked out of the war twice in a few decades England was willing to come to the table with Tupac. While the conditions they offered were not as generous as Tupac had hoped, they were acceptable to him.

11englandpeacees9.jpg

And so once againt Tupac had peace on all his frontiers. With the world rapidly changing into one of gunpowder and knights and soon cannons and cavalry, he was preparing for a long summer of peace before he was again forced go to war. An era of understanding and mutual co-operation with foreign nations. But fate it seems, always has something else in mind...

The World According to Tupac - Circa 380AD

12theworlddi5.jpg

nice moves, but why you always raze big cities like washington or philly, even when they have great wonders?

Its part of the variant. In fact Washington came under razing orders twice, once because the great library can't be possessed in a 'no-optional-tech' game because of the potential for it to give the player an optional tech, and also because part of the 'defiant' variant is that all foreign cities must be razed.

Confirming that I am reading this!

Tupac with Hitler quotes... I wonder if this is ominous.

Chapter 6 - The Long Summer of Peace

Tupac Shakur said:
They claim that I'm violent just cos I refuse to be silent

Tupac began his preparations for the future by taking a look at his troop numbers and was suprised to find that already his entire labour force was comprised of slaves.

13noworkersun1.jpg

While this in itself caused no alarm, it put into perspective just how succesful his military operations had been so far, and with quite limited military resources.
Tupac's oversea's analysists warned that on the BabloJapanese Continent that there could be large scale upheavals and a drastic power shift as a result of the new Bablo-Japanese War. Babylon had a large and powerful military and with an army brimming with confidence after their conquest of India the Japanese would have to rely heavily on the skill of their Samuari warriors.
Closer to home Tupac was keen on strengthening his ties with China, he recognised that with China's size and manpower they would ultimately establish themselves as one of the continents major powers. For now Tupac was keen to access some of their abundant resources, and he paid a handsome some of 12gpt to acquire a steady supply of Dyes from China.

China: 12gpt for Dyes

Tupac again decided to call upon the Tupacian Central Intelligence (TCI) to assist him. Rome had understanding of the concept of 'Chemistry' which was unknown to the rest of the world, as well as the shared knowledge of Education with America.

14romestealov8.jpg

15chemistryow3.jpg

The knowledge of Chemistry was then traded to America for Education

America: Chemistry for Education + 38gp +2gpt + World Map
China: Education for Ivory + 51gp + 12gpt + World Map

Several great projects in America and China came to fruition in the next few years with Atlanta luring the brilliant Italian inventor Leonardo Di Vinci to her, furnishing him with a fully up-to-date workshop and all the tools he required. Shanghai in China also convinced Polish astronomer Copernicus to operate from the city, and China was the beneficiary of his services at their new Observatory.

Meanwhile Tupac's peace deal with England was coming to a close, and Lizzie was very keen to have the valuable (for England) deal renewed.

16englandpeacexv0.jpg

Many years passed, new deals were struck to secure supplies of resources from foreign nations. America was oft told to remove her forces and she dutifily complied.

17americaleavekb1.jpg

Cleopatra of Egypt offered to introduce young Tupac to the international world's newest player... Germany.

germanywa0.jpg

And finally Tupac found himself trailing technologically yet again. This time he turned to China. His spies reported that thanks to the works of Copernicus, China's knowledge of Astronomy was the best in the world, so Tupac order the TCI to 'acquire' that information for him.

18chinastealcv0.jpg

19astronomyct2.jpg

This information was of great use to Tupac. He contacted America, who had knowledge of banking, and agreed to pay a hefty sum over time, as well as the knowledge of Astronomy for th knowledge of banking.

America: Astonomy + 281gp + 61gpt + World Map for Banking

And then on traded this...

Rome: Astronomy + Banking + 38gpt + World Map for Mettallurgy
China: Metallurgy for 801gp + 31gpt + World Map
America: Metallurgy for 281gp + 72gpt + World Map.

Tupac in fact ended up spending 2057gp on funding for the TCI, as well as 281gp and 99gpt in trade negotiations, and received...
Astronomy
Banking
Metallurgy
1082gp
103gpt and fully up-to-date world map. He was pretty pleased...

Unfortunately England wasn't... she insisted on sending worker partied through her former territory toward her colonies, and despite Tupac's constant demands for their removal they continued to try. Finally Lizzie's patience snapped.

20englandwarkq1.jpg

Tupac still had the bulk of Army Group England based in Wheatopia, which more and more was emerging as Tupac's centre of operation in England. From there the Army Group moved north to New Canterbury and then through English territory to Nottingham. The battle was brief. Tupac's Longbowmen were able to punch through even the armour of the English Pikemen with embarrasing ease and the city fell in less than three days of fighting.

21nottinghamnm4.jpg

However English counterattacks proved effective and the Army Group was forced to fight for its life in the hostile territory. Finally, one of Tupac's elite swordsmen, by the name of Markival lead a rearguard, defeating the English forces, allowing the bulk of the Army Group to withdraw to the safety of New Canterbury. Upon his return, Tupac proclaimed a national hero.

22greatleaderqp8.jpg

Tupac made him Governor of All the lands west of the Tupacian Mountains and ordered the construction of a beautiful palace for him...
