The Tale of King Tupac

Because thats not New Canterbury. If you look at the previous chapter, you'll see that the city was in fact Coventry. I razed and replaced, naming it New Canterbury because

a) there were no tupac names left and
b) I thought I had razed Canterbury, not Coventry!

Ah, I tend to do that when I raze my enemy's capital.

Why didn't you post the link in your old thread? :crazyeye: I just found this!

Finaly! These stories are so much better then the succesion games. Yet I manage to miss this starting.... oh well. Tupac shall live!

Chapter 7 - Friends! Lurkers! Countrymen!

Tupac Shakur said:
I think heaven is just when you sleep, you sleep with a good conscience, you don't have nightmares.

Tupac had resumed has throne, ready to continue the direction of the war against England only to find that the lovely Cleopatra had sent an envoy to him.

1germanyob5.jpg

'Germans ay? Well...' thought Tupac. 'I spose I might as well welcome them!'

Tupac made Bismarck, the newest member of the International Community, welcome by gifting the German Chancellor with the knowledge of Invention.
Tupac realised that America had yet again slipped away from him and so Tupac authorised a large trade deal in exchange for American scientists teaching his lads about this nasty thing called 'Physics'.
Personally Tupac detested the whole thing but his scientists were dead keen to learn about it. Plus, reasoned Tupac, he could trade it around...

America: 2278gp + Wines +28gpt + World Map for Physics
China: Physics for 886gp + 1gpt + World Map
Rome: Physics for 27gold + 41gpt + World Map

He then received word that the Bablo-Japanese War had come to a close. It really was quite unusual, that Babylon had initiated the war and yet Japan had suffered no loss of territory and had annexed all of the Babylon provinces that made up former-India. Usually it was only people who declared war on Tupac who had their wars end up like that...

Lizzie came begging for peace... again. Tupac being the kind and generous soul that he is obliged. Of course it wouldn't be free... by Jove no!

2engpeacekq0.jpg

China, perhaps thinking that with his troops tied up on the English border that Tupac might be in a giving mood, dared to make demands of Tupac. Naturally they were too scared of Tupac to follow through with any of their threats.

3chinabluffssd9.jpg

China had already leapt ahead of everyone else. Perhaps it was timing, or maybe Copernicus was finally earning his salary, nonetheless China had become the first nation to reach the Industrial Ages. Rome and America still lacked Theory of Gravity, and Tupac that and Magnetism. So what did Tupac do?

4chinastealok1.jpg

5theoryofgravdr3.jpg

This information was then used to catapult Tupac back to tech parity

America: Theory of Gravity + 310gp + 11gpt for Magnetism
Rome: Theory of Gravity for 106gp + 28gpt

For the second time, Tupac felt like a new man.

To celebrate he commissioned the opening of a new centre of trade fro his empire.

With the ability now for his sailors and merchants to traverse the seas, Tupac decided to open trade routes that were previously impossible.

However all was not rosy for Great Tupac... he had over 100gpt coming into his nation from Rome as payment for technologies. That payment suddenly didn't seem so secure, it seemed as though Caesar might be encountering a slight fiscal crisis back home...

8romaninvasionnc4.jpg

Tupac decided to take a large scale loan from Caesar...

Rome: 200gpt for 2913gp

9romewaroo6.jpg

That initial invasion force swelled enormously as the Southern Army Corps raced against time to reach the city, whose walls allowed the garrison to defeat the initial invasion.
The Southern Army Corps however fought fiercly and the initial force, even with its reinforcements, was defeated.

10firstlotdeadcu5.jpg

However the main Roman army began to arrive and they were forced to withdraw back to the relative safety of the city, the second wave of the Roman army would be too much for them.

11nextlotzy7.jpg

The siege of Hillberton lasted 60 years, two generations lived and died in an unending siege. Over fifty Roman divisions met their deaths at the walls of the now legendary city.
The day the siege commenced Tupac declared to a nation worried by the size and strength of the Roman army
"Friends! Lurkers! Countrymen! Lend me your ears! I have come to bury Caesar not to praise him."
After the boisterous applause had died down he continued.
'At Hillberton our men brave the army of a commander who has never known defeat, and at the walls of that city the piled dead shall reach the heavens. But should we succeed, then, in ages to come, the heroes who fought there will be remembered as gods! We will turn the town into an impenetrable fortress, no Roman will ever set foot in Hillberton. I have given the orders to the garrison, they are to fight or they are to die. At Hillberton we shall do what none before us have done, and break the strength of the Roman army. The South Army Corps has been met by 8 veteran divisions of muskets who will aid in the defence of the city. I will personally be there to lead the men in battle, so that you all no that I do not ask our soldiers, our sons and fathers and brothers, to do something which I would not!'

Upon hearing that Tupac would be in the city, Caesar gave the order for even more troops to be deployed, infamously declaring 'We shall go to Hillberton and bring Tupac to Rome in an iron cage!'

That was before the sixty-year-siege began, in the end the Roman government was on the brink of collapse, its own people violently rioting against the war, and the senseless sending of thousands of Rome's youth to their deaths. Finally Caesar came to his senses and decided to end the senseless slaughter.

You are way too good at this game.

Eagerly awaiting the next chapter...

Chapter 8 – A World at War

Tupac Shakur said:
Imperfection is inherited, therefore we all sin, but fighting the war of sin is the greatest war of all because we all die in the end no matter how hard we fight.

Tupac opened his daily mail, and atop the pile was a copy of Thucydides Great History of the World (990AD edition) and in one of the chapters entitled 'The Most Powerful Nations of the World', Tupac's Zululand ranked top.
Score one for the good guys!
Shanghai, already home to Copernicus and his observatory, further established their credentials as the world's premiere city of science with the announcement that the famed English physicist Isaac Newton, had been convinced to establish his much vaunted University in the Chinese second-city.
With this new scientific power China announced that it had discovered the secret of Steam Power. Something that Tupac was happy to pay large sums of money for...

China: 70gpt + 2767gp for Steam Power

but this was offset by brokering this technology.

Aztecs: Steam Power fro 76gpt + 94gp + World Map

Unfortunately Tupac did not have access to any sources of coal... this was a problem.

13nocoalgh4.jpg

So Tupac was going to have to ‘acquire’ some. England had a source nearby…

14englishcoalxc9.jpg

However before Tupac could begin assembling his forces for an attack on England, he received word that the Romans had begun experimenting with lightning, and were even able to harness and use it for their own purposes… technology like this was very important to Tupac and he ordered an immediate espionage operation to get this technology for himself.

15electricityvl9.jpg

The incredible cost of this operation (3311gp) was then offset by claiming the patents for the technology himself, allowing Tupac to trade the technology around the world.

With his treasury restocked and his finances guaranteed for the future, Tupac felt confident to pursue his ambitions in England. He was reluctant however to incite international condemnation and so provoked Elizabeth into a declaration of war. Tupac’s tool in this endeavour was an incompetent spy by the name of ‘Jack’.

16caughtbg9.jpg

17engwaraw2.jpg

Several other nations saw the Tupac-English war as an opportunity to extort Tupac. But he was having none of it, much to the chagrin of other world powers.

18germanybacksdownai0.jpg

The Northern Army Corps moved operating out of Wheatopia advanced toward the English city of Warwick, and the crucial coal source. The English defences had been improved markedly since the last war, with Musketmen now garrisoning all cities. Nonetheless the Northern Army Corp overwhelmed the small garrison of Warwick, burning the city to the ground.

19warwickwi0.jpg

Combat settlers were rushed to the site of the city to claim that crucial source of coal.

20coalgateto2.jpg

and from there the Northern Army Corps advanced on to York, were the bulk of the English Home Guard was defeated.

21yorkiz2.jpg

The war was as good as over now. English power was broken and Tupac’s forces were beginning to thin in number too much. Tupac had no desire to sacrifice his warriors to claim worthless territory further north and so deemed England an appropriate training ground for new troops.

Meanwhile, the world was beginning to spiral out of control. The next 20 years saw the gradual escalation of a localised conflict into the First World War.

In 1160AD Chinese nationalists in Tienstin, a former Chinese city that had been a colony of Rome for the past few centuries, assassinated Consul Clavius of the Roman Senate. Clavius was Caesar’s brother in law and was the most powerful politician in Rome, other than Emperor Caesar himself of course. His assassination sparked fury in Rome and realistically there could be only one response. Rome declared war on China.

At first this delighted Tupac, the two most significant powers on his home continent were now at war. This would only be of benefit to Tupac. However in short order things spiralled out of control.

In 1162 Aztecland signed a Military Alliance with Rome, promising practical and tangible support for the Roman war effort against China.

In 1166 Babylon accepted a request from Aztecland for military assistance against China. Babylon immediately activated an alliance with Germany, pulling them into the war against China as well.

But China had a few tricks of its own. China immediately signed a Mutual Protection Pact with England, which not only saved England from continued war with Tupac, but also brought England into the war against China’s enemies. England then paid handsomely to persuade Japan to enter the war against Babylon. Japan then brought Rome into the war against Babylon. In return Japan promised to aid Rome against China…

China then convinced the minor powers, Iroquoisland and Egypt to join her against Rome.

So in the end the world was divided into several power blocks.

The Roma Axis (Rome, Germany, Aztecland)

China and Allies (China, Egypt, England, Iroquoisland)

The Mercenary States (who despite a key involvement in the war, were aligned with different powers from the different blocks, thus were not alligend with either of the major power blocks) of Babylon and Japan, who were locked in a continuing war with each other.

And the Neutral Powers (Tupac’s Zululand and America) who took no part in the main war.

In 1210AD after decades of stalemate, the Romans developed a new weapon which they hoped would put an end to the war… in their favour. A new design of weapons for the soldiers which allowed for greater options in offence, and made their fortifications nearly impenetrable. Coupled with advanced new, long-range artillery the Romans though that they could end the war quickly.

Tupac was prepared, however, to maintain the balance of the power in the war. Another expensive espionage operation to Rome was put together.

22reppartsal7.jpg

This technology was then delivered to China. If China wanted to on-trade it to her allies she could, similarly if Rome was keen for her allies to use these weapons than that was her business. Tupac was happy to play arms dealer between the major powers.

China: Replaceable Parts + 200gp for Industrialization
Rome: Industrialization for 3863gp + 81gpt + World Map

Tupac had long stockpiled his treasury in preparation for this, and with the additional gold from Rome he was able to order a mass upgrade of his armour. 42 Musket men were recalled and retrained with the new weapons. Cannons were upgraded or replaced with the new Artillery weapons and across the nation cities began work on factories which, coupled with the increased industrial capacity from the rail network which was rapidly undergoing construction, would give Tupac’s Zululand an unmatched level of production.

Rome’s technological advances continued unabated, as did China’s despite the war and the huge sums of money being paid to Tupac. Tupac organised another operation, this time to China were spies stole the technology of Refining. The information on how to properly refine oil was key for Tupac, as was being able to identify oil wells. This technology was then traded to Rome.

With the rest of the world locked in a pointless stalemate, Tupac decided to take the opportunity to expand his territorial interests, in particular those around his Forbidden Palace, in America. The acquisition of further rubber supplies and his own source of Ivory for his people provided further motivation for war.

America watch out… Tupac’s coming to town!

^I agree. (with myself :p)

I am just to lazy to read this story all the way through. Just one question. Who is Tupac? I mean you got all these pictures of him. Is he your boyfriend or something?

some people are not only genuinly stupid, but also philistines.

@D'Artagnan59 - an update will come before too long but real life is extremely hectic at the moment. I have loads of assignments, the state rowing titles in 4 weeks and to cap things off things aren't so good at home between mum and dad. All this adds up to not much time for civ.

We can wait, you take care of yourself. We'll still be here when you're ready. Great game so far, I look forward to more.
