There are only two sports: baseball and curling. And maybe figure skating. And I guess synchronized swimming. But anyway, you get what I mean.
Oh, you've defined sports as boring. Well, then those are certainly sports.

But Indianapolis, which they moved to, did not, and the closest teams were Cleveland and Chicago.
I'm not a football fan, so I don't know about the historical accuracy of this but, what about Detroit, Cincinnati, Nashville, St. Louis, in addition to Cleveland and Chicago? They are all </=300 miles from Indianapolis.

St Louis didn't get the Rams until the late 90's early 2000's I believe. They had the St Louis Cardinal football team before that but they moved in the 80's or something like that.

It just seems like they moved from a competitive market to potentially a more, but at least similarly, competitive market. Why not move to the northern plains where there may be a lower population density, but also a lower nfl team density?

300 miles is a long way to go for a team. :dunno:

There the problem is that there just are too few people to support a pro team. All of the plains states west of Minnesota and north of Colorado to the Rockies add up to less population than New England.

Because some dumb city will build and give them a multi-million-dollar stadium. Read Free Lunch to learn how economic nonviable pro teams are and how they survive by eating at the public trough.

They also do it a lot to get in bed with the owner's other interests. The raider's owner owns a ton of vacant land outside vegas which wouldn't be that interesting otherwise, but with a new raiders stadium there it'll go way up in value. The owner of the booklyn nets did the same thing, move the team from jersy to brooklyn near all his other casino and hotel projects to drive their value up.

My question: Have you ever had a tick or know how to check for them? It's tick season and I take a lot of walks outside on a walking path but it's surrounded by high grasses and I'm worried about ticks. And on my kids. I know you can pretty easily visually inspect your clothing and body but what about hair? Can you just kind of brush it real quick or do you need to act like chimp communal grooming to do it thoroughly enough? Would you feel a tick if it bit you?

The worst I've had is ticks on my legs, I've never seen one latched onto my body.

You probably won't feel it bite you. With my wife, we'll strip naked and check all surfaces and crevasses, butt cracks and all. Though this becomes difficult once children reach a certain age, I'm sure. Ticks aren't big, but they aren't teeny weenie either (although size does vary by species), generally they aren't easy to miss, especially on light clothing or skin tones. As for hair, probably don't use a comb as you could rip out the tick if it has latched on your scalp which could facilitate the spread of whatever disease they may or may not be carrying. A simple grope of the scalp would probably suffice.

like if you run your fingers through your hair you would feel it if it's in there?

Yea, if it's there for any amount of time, they can grow pretty big. They'll detach by themselves when they're sated.
It'll be a bump on your noggin that isn't part of your head. If your partner checks your head it should be pretty apparent if something has taken up residence there.

They freak me out so much. Maybe irrationally so but I fear incurable lyme disease.

That's healthy. Given your orc-talk about how humans have a right to destroy the earth, I would say the earth has the right to fight back however it can.

Maybe. Many ticks are large enough so that they're pretty hard to overlook. But the deer tick, which is the most common vector of Lyme disease, is pretty small. And to feel one of them you take care in feeling around for it. You might miss it if you aren't carefully searching. But they're more likely to be on your legs than your head. Unless you've been lying in the grass or something.

Using an insect repellent is a good idea.

I miss the days before I heard about Lyme disease when I would walk barefoot in the grass and lay down in it and everything.

I have to ask you in good faith whether this is a trick question.
All the pretty girls in the skimpy outfits? And you feel it is boring? Ye of little taste. :p

^I stand by my earlier post.

Yeah I've had them. Finding them is straight forward - take your clothes off and look. Run your fingers over your body and make sure to poke around in every nook and crack, literally. Feel every inch of your scalp too. Have someone else spot check the areas you can't see.

Deer ticks are the size of a pin head and you can't really feel them that well as they feel like normal bumps or dirt. Other ticks are bigger - they feel like a tiny soft pebble. You can push and pull them and even if the legs come loose, they'll hold fast with their heads. When you pull it off, make sure you get the head with it. If it doesn't come off with the tick, make sure you dig out the head or you're chancing and infection. You can also burn them with an extinguished match or hot lighter and that usually makes them release.

You definitely won't feel it bite and you'll be lucky to even feel them walking around.

When you come back from the woods it's important to take a hot shower as fast as you can and as hot as you can. The hot water usually drives off the ticks and other bugs. Also, chiggers are insanely painful and itchy and you won't feel them untl the next day. Hot water denatures the proteins they use to digest your skin that cause the scars, itching and pain. This will save you a lot of grief. I wouldn't even bother checking for ticks until after the shower because they will likely fall off in the shower.

It's a serious question.

Granted, there are some really boring programs. I honestly don't get why people still love Torvill & Dean's "Bolero" ice dancing program (they won gold with it in 1984). It must be that they were technically perfect or something, because that is one hell of a tedious piece of music.

But there are some programs that I still love to watch (thank goodness someone posted them on YouTube). And the first time Philippe Candeloro debuted his "Braveheart" program (wearing a kilt as part of his costume), everyone from the fans to the sports commentators were watching his spins very closely to see just what he had on underneath it. :p

@hobbsyoyo: Wouldn't it be a lot less trouble to just wear a hazmat suit?
