Send any complaints to @Petek. :)

Let's organize a strike!

The usual "evidence" for this is how they look

Or more contemporaneous (as in more similar ages)

I've had this argument a bunch of times and can never understand why people think it's "obvious" Harry isn't Charles's son. To my eye, he strongly resembles Charles, albeit he's a ginger. But I think I've read a lot of people in Diana's family are/were gingers, so it didn't have to come from that other guy.

I was wondering who would be first to comment on the serial thread post count. Petek recently re-implemented loss of post-count for serial threads, which hadn't been enforced since we switched over in late 2017. Sadly, you'd have to promote me to an administrator for me to manually edit your post counts. ;)
Is it PDMA if I ask what the rationale for this is? Why does anyone care if serial threads contribute to post count? Edit: Ie, as in why should serial threads be treated differently?

The main benefit to me is that I don't post in serial threads much, so I stand to benefit in the post count competition. Except I have no hope of catching up to the people in the tens of thousands, so it doesn't even matter :p

Because big post counts are better!

To my eye it is clear that he looks loads like James Hewitt and not at all like Charlie. Not that any of this matters, unless you think that paternal inheritance and extreme violence are appropriate methods for allocating executive power.

That's just the way it always was. I don't know what the original rationale was, but perhaps it was to encourage people not to spam the serial threads.

Did anyone see any evidence of that when posts in serial threads did count for our postcount?

Do you think the powers that be will listen to the petition?

I have no idea. All you can do is ask.

Is Earth really shrinking??

Not literally. I just meant metaphorically as the internet has become entrenched and most spots on the globe can be reached in a few days at most.

Oh.

I did watch a physicists lecture on space topics the other day and he said he thinks the Earth is losing mass over time do to radioactive decay and outgassing but it's such a low amount that it's effectively a wash when you account for material deposited by meteors.

Edit: Reading what I just wrote makes me wish I could write simpler sentences naturally. Not dumbed down, just less long and convoluted. I can do it but it takes effort. :(

We do launch a bunch of stuff in space. Some of it doesn't come back to Earth. If some other process doesn't make up for this loss of mass, then I'd say the Earth is shrinking by a very small amount.

Only the stuff that is launched and achieves escape velocity take mass away from the system. For most of the rest, they're all gravitationally bound to Earth and contribute to its gravity well by some microscopic amount. They will also re-enter at some point. Geostationary satellites are like 50/50 to come back down in deep time or get ejected I think. They are at an extreme altitude.

You mean like the meteorites just mentioned?
They contribute about the mass of Mount Everest, every year, give or take. We don't come anywhere near reaching that amount of mass launched off the Earth, even if you include everything that will eventually come back down.

Radioactivity and loss of the atmosphere do offset what comes down in meteors though.
