Ach, I was going to do a map like that

Anyway, goodjob :goodjob:

You might want to put some rivers in Europe though.

here's a cool homeric atlas :)

There's the Tiber, 2 kinda NE of Italy, and one in the Alps!:yeah:

O ya...I forgot about those...And just when I thought it could be done with! I'll fix it tomorrow.:)

Those r very nice...Anybody but cal like this map?:)

What else should I put in there? This is a giga map, ya know.:p

80 views and only 6 downloads. I'm gonna post an updated version, with slightly more mixed terrain, like in the big plains, I'll scatter some desert....And of course, much more rivers...I'll have one with resources next week, hopefully!:D Anybody else like this map?

Edit: What I really wanna know is which sections could use more work...I don't think Africa needs work, nor the Arabian Peninsula, but I do wanna hear others' opinions.:)

I must say this is a very interesting idea :goodjob: .

I think you should "soften" the borders of different types of terrain. Now there are too many straight lines. And as you already said, more rivers are needed.

With a few fixes this will be a great map. Can't wait :) .

Soften the borders...Meaning have them intermingle a bit on the border? I can do that...Version 2 will be up in roughly 10 minutes!:D

I tried to intermingle the terrain...Whaddya think?:undecide: (I also added rivers!:D)

I still think there's too little variation in the terrain. I mean, the entirety of the Ukraine is grassland!

Perhaps you could try and add some more terrain detail; surely the Greeks must have been aware of the Zagros, of the mountains in modern Tunisia and Algeria, and similar features. Perhaps some Jungle away in India. Were they really that benighted on the look of northern Italy? - the Po Valley essentially does not exist.

You seem to've accidentally placed the Ottoman start loc at the Dardanelles instead of the Bosporus. And why do Persia start in India rather than in Iran?

In case that sounds too damning, I wish to add I love the concept by this map, and am only offering criticism in the hope of helping perfecting it.

Hmm...Well, I'm working off terrain that I see in the area in Marla Singer's World Map, and I thought that beyond those hills was the Iranian Plateau. I'll change that. As for Italy, I'm only working off the data I get from Marla Singer's World Map. What terrain should be in the Ukarainian Area? And I've never seen nor heard of the Zagros.

Some answers/suggestions:

I'm not sure what "hills" you are refering to? If the ones west of the Iranian start loc, they appear to be a heavily distorted representation of the mountains and highlands of Afghanistan and Baluchistan; they mark the eastern end of the Iranian Plateau.

In Italy, there should be hills, with some mountains interspersed, running down the entire length of the Peninsula, except they should not cross the northernmost bit, directly south of the Alps, where you should have verdant lowlands run thru by the Po running from west to east.

The Ukraine should indeed be mostly grassland, but with some scattered forests thrown in, and some plains, esp in the east.

The Zagros is the mountain range in western Iran; it runs essentially parallel to the Tigris.

Do you, by any chance, have TAM installed? Take a look at the "Large Mediterranean" map; it's a very good map of the the world known to the Greeks (sans India and Ethiopia, to the extent these really were "known"), and has terrain appropriate to the Ancient Era (less desert in Cyrenaica, just to mention one difference as compared to the modern day). It should show you how the areas mentioned above should look better than I can explain, and ought be useful for fleshing out other regions too.

Edit: Atrocious spelling improved.

Okay, I'll make a version 3...I hope this'll be better.:)
