The World is on Fire
So you guessed it. The world really is on fire. But why? Let's take a look at this map:

Yes, this world is on FIRE. Filled to the point there's no ownerless land left. Filled with 180 greedy, backstabbing, evil, merciless civilizations. WELL, it may not be on fire YET, but sparks certainly flying. Let's check out a chart so you can see what all those crazy colors signify:

There it is. All 180 of them. Refer to this if you have no idea which civ is which, or if you need a guide as to finding your favorite civs on the massive map.

Ok, so the point of this is to basically witness the history of this new world, and see how everything plays out. I love maps so this is fun for me to do, and i decided to add a twist to give the civs a bit more character to make them seem less than just colors on a map.

What my idea here is a technology race. The tech leaders advance 1 point every TU, and the rest shuffle about to catch up, and what happens on the map can mean rise and fall on the tech race. Now, given that all the settling is completed, we are somewhere in the mid ancient age. I'll place us at TU (Time Unit) 15, out of 25 for the Ancient Age.

The most recent tech race data is from TU14 so the tech leaders are at 14. Their most recent technology is Iron Working. According to the map, we are at 15, so they would have writing (try to imagine that. This will be a lot more organized later. This is the first post, so everything is jumbled up, but later on, there will be a map and a major events thing for each TU and a tech race data update will occur ever 2 TUs)

So, in the data we have:

Okay so there you can see where each civ stands technologically and later on, when things really erupt, there will be a section for alliances and groups civs form but for now its still very early for that kind of stuff.

I know this comes off a bit odd, and very confusing, but this was the first post and i needed to get all of the explaining out of the way. It will catch on, i promise. Soon enough you might memorize each civ's colors and location on the map like me.

Anyway, i hope you enjoy this, and don't be deterred by confusion, just ask and i will help you understand everything!

Several major events:

Germany and Rapa Nui attack Kenya.
Arabia and Denmark attack Illyria.
Paraguay captures the northernmost Trojan city to intercept Byzantine-Spanish trading.
Hittites capture a Trypillian island, giving them closer access to Bohemia and Moravia.
Switzerland contacts an isolated Cappadocian city and bribes them into joining their empire. (They were cut off and couldn't get resources, and Switzerland offered them resources of their own.

Tech race update (will occur on every even TU)
New tech- Code of Law (less crime in empire = more units can be used to external conflicts)

Oh and now i have a little challenge for you. Predict the top 10 or 20 civilizations for TU20. That's the big checkpoint for now and i want to see if anyone is able to guess the world powers for the near future.

@Tr1cky- i'm not actually playing this, otherwise i would be having in game screenshots. This isn't a story in-game but it is a story inspired by civ3 so i decided to post it!

Anyway, tell me what you think of this. Feel free to ask questions!

Anyway, tell me what you think of this. Feel free to ask questions!

But then, how anything is decided? War declarations, troop movements, units involved, battle outcomes, capturing cities, scientific progress, production, trade and so on? And how did you generate the initial map?

Does it work like an RPG, with actions and rolls? Or is it just, well, random?

well, what it really is, i made the map in paint, freehand. Then i went to the replay thing for civ3, with the map and shows cities being built over time. This is sort of inspired by that, but i made a gigantic amount of civilizations for a longer story.

Scientific progress is determined by geography, like if a strong civ is near another strong civ, they work together usually. Civs develop friendships with eachother and they trade and they advance by that means, and every post i do, the leaders of the race earn one additional tech and the rest struggle to catch up.

This isnt actually being played in game, im playing as sort of a god and determining what all of the civs will do and a story is carved out from there.

TU19

Several major events:
Moravia attacks Australia.
Tibet captures two isolated German cities.
Norway attacks Indonesia.
Zambia attacks Bosnia.
Seminoles attack Portugal for killing off the Shawnee.

Khoisan, Shawnee, Belarus, and Cameroon are eliminated!

Some Civilizations that are quickly rising:

Byzantines- They are getting fairly rich from selling technologies to the Spanish, Paraguayans, Kanem Bornu, and Andalusians, and are moving up in power quickly.

Navaho- although they are isolated, they interact more with civilizations on the main continent rather than their islands, which is paying off. They sell technologies to the islanders to make profit, then buy weapons to arm their armies which now marrch on Nicaraguan lands, hoping to establish a foothold.

Moravia-They started off well by befriending Bohemia and babylon, and now they tore through Australia's south to wall off the Prussia peninsula from the rest of the continet. This could make major profit if they play it right, and they will be a threat if they maintain their frienships.

Germany- After shredding Kenya to pieces, they have much more land and are ready to support a more difficult war. They have good connections with the Mongols, to gain some much needed technology.

Mongols- Partnered with Germany and Babylon, they are already solid, but they are also the leader of technology. They are at the center of the central sea, so they are able to reach out and trade with many civilizations, as the profits roll in, expect the Mongols to erupt and become very empowered.

Belgium defends France by attacking the Jutes.

Latvia is eliminated!

Major War Unfolding!

Persian War

Pesian Side:
Persia (Primary Aggressor)
Gokturks: Joined Persia, hoping to get respect and get in on the trading.

Ottomans (tentative): Long time ally of Persia.

Burgundian Side:
Burgundy: Originally attacked by Persia, who wanted resources from them.
Amazon: Supported Burgundy after seeing Persia's torture of war prisoners and aggression.
Saxony: Joined Carolingia after promised resources.
Carolingia: Joined Carolingia after promised resources.

Portugal (tentative): Persia is blocking trade routes.

I kind of want to see an Earth map version of this. Than again, I'm addicted to Earth maps, so...

TU23

Several Major Events:

Foundation of the Papal States- China and Thailand, who each conquered parts of Quebec and Belarus respectively, were relatively cut off economically, so they were unable to efficiently pay the upkeep for the isolated sections of their empires. After unrest in these states for a period, Monotheistic missionaries from Bolivia took the reins and named these colonies the Papal States. These missionaries hold strong ties with Bolivia, so China and Thailand have no interest in sparking a war with the Papal States for now.

Switzerland joins Maya in attacking Nepal.
Mongols attack Khmers.
Germany sails to Numidia and attacks a coastal city.
France attacks Peru, trying to work their way into getting a Central Sea Port (CS- now denotes central sea)
Netherlands attacks Somalia.
Kanem Bornu captures a Paraguayan city near Byzantium, trying to get into the flow of trade.
Cuba attacks Serbia.

Czechoslovakia and Siberia are eliminated!

Okay, not to :deadhorse: but I am still a little confused. I get that this is a story and you are not playing the game. But are you using ANY random mechanics - even rolling dice - to decide some of this? Very interesting story, just curious. :D Love the map!
