Has anyone else got this happiness adjustment? 5 angry faces in all my cities. I've been playing FFH for a while (since light) and I don't recall ever seeing this one before. Anyone know how you get it, and more importantly, how you get rid of it!

You didn't think defying an overcouncil resolution wouldn't have a downside now did you? :p

I believe it goes away on its own over time. Leaving the overcouncil might also do it, but I'm not sure on that.

Isn't that the penalty for defying the Overcouncil? If so, I'd assume the answer is "don't do that." XD

I got it, and I can only guess that it happened because I defeating all of the computer players by quite a margin. Nothing else made sense, as I wasn't razing cities or raising the AC counter. I chalked it up the jealously (the unhappy faces in your cities are from hippies).

- when I got I had never defied the undercouncil (unless I clicked the wrong button by accident).

I got that one. I was sure that it was because I had built the tower of necromancy (soon to build the tower of mastery), but it might be because I refused outlawing death/enthropy mana. Does it happen immediately after defying a resolution? I didn't see it immediately.

It would make sense to tell the player about the penalty when they mouse over the "defy the resolution" choice, like in the events.

It's carried over from standard Civ 4, where you'd get the penalty for defying the UN.

Defying the overcouncil doesn't mean voting against them. It means that you still have Death mana (or whatever) when that has been banned by the council.

So there is no "clicking the wrong button", but rather not tracking your resources.

Not totally correct. You can choose the option "NEVER! (defy council)", which has the same effect as owning an outlawed mana node.

Owning an outlawed node does nothing. The node just shuts off. It's as if it weren't there.

Only the "never" option causes you to get 5 unhappiness and keep your death mana.

haveing certain types of mana affects different players. for example, you get a penalty with the elohim if you use death mana, and a bonus with the Sheaim (i think) regaurdless of their alignment.

The world thinks you are a villin is for defying a resolution as many have pointed out above. I have gotten this same diplo penalty in BTS from defying both UN and AP resolutions. If you later vote to pass the same resolution that you defied it should go away (if the modders haven't changed this). At least that is how it works in BTS.

clues that youve been playing too much fall from heaven "you dont remember the Overcouncil being modelled after the UN in BTS"
