Why people never stop griping about the AI...:deal:

Emperor level, huge size, (Germany) about 50 turns in. I built 3 cities, met 5 neighbors (& made friends w/4). The 5th civ was Alexander; after conquering 3 of his 5 cities (because he was closest to me, & was Alexander, he became victim #1). On the same turn I enforced peace on him (e.g. after conquering 3 cities in 10 turns), Aelx said, "How do you hope to succeed if you don't fight?," (or words to that effect). :hammer2:This certainly does not effect gameplay, but has to be up there w/Gandi advocating Nukes in the prehistoric era. :wallbash:

It isn't a deal breaker, but is sure to draw complaints about the idiot AI. :yup:

I don't expect Firaxis (or 2K, Sid, or whoever) to provide an NSA-grade AI, but they could assign 1 coder to emit all the egregious REALLY stupid things...like an AI Civ declaring war when you have a LARGE army near them, and they have 2 warriors. :gripe:

Please give us a break and eliminate some of the behavior that Adolf Hitler (Germany, politically incorrect mod ) would classify as too pushy! :deadhorse:

Those drive me up the wall too.

I had the comment from Alexander too after I just finished my third war! The other one I hate is when the leader Rome complains that I'm leaving the best land for my enemies when I've got 5 cities and he's got 2 - ???WTF????

Or one of the AI's complains about me not killing the barbarians when I just finished clearing the last camp around me and I see they're all around his cities! Jeez.

I haven't seen the Gandhi nuke comment for a while. Not sure if that was dealt with.

The other one I hate is when you just finish crushing an AI leaving them with 1 or 2 cities and they start trash talking you! That was in Civ V too. Drives me up the wall. I liked in Civ IV where they'd suck up to you if you were powerful and they were weak.

I actually think the AI is pretty smart...
To win the Cultural Victory as France in a Earth map I had a harsh time pillaging enemies' Spaceports in order to have time to boost my tourism...It was a very difficult match for me!:cringe:
Not to mention Trajan slaying me from the game in the Ancient Era 4 times :o
I have also seen all my Industrial Zones pillaged by enemies spies and enemies' patronizing the Great People I wanted :undecide:
I recommend playing in a small map(earth maps, mainly),use a mod that reduce settling minimal distance and enjoy.

I had it the other way around. After almost wiping out America and then making peace: Thanks for keeping the peace on the continent, bully for you!

I haven't had this problem. He only pops up with this message when he has at least 1 more city than you. Are you sure he doesn't have cities elsewhere? I just got the message in my current game when he plopped down his 3rd city and I still had 2. Of course that was a forward settled city next to my capital, and he declared war on me 15 or 20 turns later. I stomped that forward settled city and then decided to stomp his 2 further away cities just because I didn't like him. Took a while since I only had 2 warriors, and had to build up my forces.

They fixed the Ghandi nuke thing, that was a horrible mess up of the summer patch (which was a pretty horrible patch all around). The Alexander thing does need some work. It is funny when he's "okay" when you are at war with him. At least they should give a grace period of 10 turns or so when not at war.

And then the Kongo leader. Sigh. I'm not going to spread religion to his sorry ass until I have religion in all my cities first. It takes time to get enough faith to spread religion and evangelize twice and get my inquisition done so I can have an inquisitor just in case I get converted.

I love to hate (or hate to love) that they still sometimes don't escort their Settlers and keep building new ones and try to expand while their capital is under siege.
In my current game I got three Settlers from England before I put them out of their misery.

In fairness, all but the first one had a Warrior escort, but that was quickly dealt with.

I've never tried to keep Cyrus alive after the early rush. Will he also like you for declaring a surprise war on himself?

It might have been Tomyris but I think it was Gorgo: just a couple of turns after capturing a couple of her best cities and destroying her army and then making peace, she pops up on my screen to mock me for being a coward and afraid to fight.

The spear of Fjorn buff not being visible. I sometimes lose track of (or second guess myself, might be more accurate) who has sucked at the teat when I'm jockeying dozens of units back and forth to it while dodging units from Victoria and Armagh. Makes me feel like an idiot.
