This is a thread for the aspects of the expansion that people enjoyed or thought were well done.

I'll start: I like that the leaders now have custom dialogue that reflects their unique views and opinions.

Ok, I'm going to say it. I like the new diplomacy. I Like diplomatic credit and I especially like the new agreements.
Finally there is a new reason for me to care about other players besides their randomly chosen affinity or the fact that they are located in the rear of my current conquest target.

    I like:
    - New diplomacy
    - New biomes and unique marvels add a lot of atmosphere
    - Artifact system
    - The way affinity points are spread out now
    - Navies are important now!

There's so much I like about the expansion. Bugs and imbalances aside, I still love playing the game and look forward to it, like in the past with other games. For me, that "one more turn" syndrome is definitely back and I really need to catch up on sleep, haha.

I liked vanilla, mostly due to the lore, setting, and gameplay improvements over Civ 5 (not overall gameplay! Just, if you zero-in on some of its features and compare) but it never really sunk its hook into me like Rising Tide has done.

I'm looking forward to the future patches and most especially the next expansion -- it's so exciting because you don't exactly know where they're going to take us with it (well, it'll definitely focus on the later game, I assume).

Diplo currency opens up a lot of potential for the game that I don't think is currently used very well (upgrade myself, get stupid powerful deals, or buy units doesn't feel like much of a choice many times)

Traits do however help widen potential openings as health is now easier to get (but you're still sorta forced to find something to offset health issues, which is annoying).

New units are actually interesting and early enough in the tech tree to affect things in much more interesting ways (nanohive/geliopod are VASTLY more fun to use than battlesuits/swarms)

I really like a lot about the expansion. It's just the bad balancing of quite a few things and the total removal of the old diplomacy system's functions that I don't like. Everything that's been added though is pretty sweet.

While I wish they'd of kept the old options mostly intact and simply mixed the two systems, I do really like the new diplomacy stuff that's been added. Agreements are cool and the variety of unique functions for you to use from them that can be fun and interesting. Doing stuff like combo'ing Barre's ability with the agreement for specialists using no food is a fun and unique strategy. Getting the agreement that makes workers free to produce early on is a nice kind of little boost. Even just getting a strong flat bonus like Think Tanks from Elodie or leaf tech cost reduction from Chungsu feels good. There's plenty of junky ones like the outpost defense too, but that's just the balance issues rearing it's head again. And out of all the places in RT it's probably the least bothersome here, at least. Traits are pretty much in the same boat.

New Artifact system is great, just it probably suffers the worst from the RT balance issues. I'm usually against RNG systems in a strategy game, but here I'm just having a blast with it anyway.

New biomes look very nice and Marvels are pretty awesome. I just hope they make the frigid biome one better in a patch since it's such a nice looking biome with such a useless marvel.

Hybrid units are fun and most of them look really cool. I was surprised at how stuff I didn't expect to find very interesting like the Geliopod is actually fun to use. New subs are fun to play with too. Domination victories as a whole got a lot more interesting with the new unit variety and hybrids bringing earlier upgrades.

Again, outside of the balances issues throughout some of the new stuff that sorely need to be addressed, I've been having a really fun time playing.

The more stable mp experience and the hybrid units. The power creep that makes mp games fast and played in 3-4 hours.

The biomes and in-game art are great. The Frigid biome is a personal favorite. I like the new background pictures added to quests, etc.

The new hybrid units - they add some appreciated weirdness. Their animations are great.

    The added incentives for exploration.

    Music!

Some of the new Wonders in the tech tree - mostly the aquatic city exclusives.

Much of the new flavor text.

    Viability of every starting location.

Al Falah and the NSA have interesting traits that affect game play decision making.

    Submarines!

    Hydrocorals, Makaras, and Sea Rippers.

Changes to Station / City settling rules. :goodjob:

Incentives to clear nests - and to be extra nice to aliens early. Nice opposition there.

Ability to build more improvements per tile. I want to farm that basalt. Thanks.

Removal of 2 energy per Strategic repetitive-clicking silliness.

Removal of instant diplomatic contact upon landing.

Almost forgot: hitting <esc> now gets me out of the satellite overlay. :goodjob:

    {Dislikes would be focused more on core game mechanics, unfortunately. Several are fixable though.}

I really, really like all the additions - except the war score problems.

Most of all, I really like the flexibility that the game has. The hybrid units, the different traits the AI throws up each game and the random artifact bonuses (the less OP and more balanced bonuses) give me the feeling that I'm playing a slightly different game each time.

Admittedly, I've only played 3 so far...but I'm pretty hooked

I love the new quests if you do not have a set tech path every game it steers you to a techs/building that you do not have yet. I like the idea of water cities even though they are a bit to powerful. I like that you get affinity from most techs it creates a steady leveling process. The artifact system add a lot to the early map exploration.

    I like . . . .
    the increased variety of aliens,
    the increased variety of biomes,
the fact that Quantum Politics (or whichever one gives you 2x culture acquisition toward virtues) makes Elodie much more decent to play,
the Supremacy/Purity hybrid unit appearance and design
strategic resources being traded via trade routes
little details like the underwater farms being aligned in random locations, rather than all having perfectly identical positioning (it prevents a field of bland sameness even if you spam them close together)
the visual appearance of submerged domes and other underwater structures
the increased variety of underwater resources
the slight increase in alien aggression

I think this game really nails it perfectly the beginning atmosphere and the exploring of a new world. It is so atmospheric and the music and visuals are just brilliant. It is the only CIV game that to me immerses me into the world and is excellent for role playing. It is a real pity the mid and late game aren't quite so good. Still I am really enjoying the expansion.

the diplomacy system has a lot of potential with a few patches. Also hybrid affinities add new play-styles and cool looking units. I also like that my tech- strategy is different to vanilla and more based on developing hybrid affinity units.

I really like the hybrid affinity units. Especially autosleds and geliopods. And I like how well fleshed out naval gameplay feels now.

I love Hybrids. The iPunk Purity/Supremacy units are so damn sexy. I wish I could have hybrid Artillery, Aircraft, and Carriers though...

I was pleasantly surprised with the victory movies. I've only seen Contact so far (twice) but I found it genuinely good. Even got a few goosebumps.
