Let's go gender-inclusive and say "gentle-persons" shall we?

The games forums are great, but I find the OT to be a very difficult place to have any serious discussion

This OT forum is much better then the OT forum at the Total War Center which is populated by by either raving nationalists or posters engaged in a Communism vs. Randian Libertarian debate.

Gaming forums are always at their most mature (we're not that mature anyways) between sequels or expansions. Wait until the next big thing when all the little tykes and trolls invade.

While yes the OT here is significantly better than the OT on the majority of forums I've seen, and we have a few gentlemen and actual scholars I don't think that describes most of the posters.

Yes, there are a fair few on these boards whom I would call gentlemanly and some too whom I would go so far as to call scholarly, but there are only a couple in OT to whom I would bestow the distinction of possessing both these qualities.

I can see plenty of gentleman around here. Scholars? Well that depends...
But I would rather be around lot of gentleman then just a few scholars.

Nice thread idea. Gotta say, this is one of the more consistently interesting and non-douchey OTs I've ever been to. It's very enjoyable to get postcount here. :) I always like a good circle-jerk.
    Not enough historians. :p

Most of whom know very little about history. 'S like saying that all of the many, many atheists and agnostics here are "science fans". :p

Agreed that in comparison to other sites on the internet the atmosphere here is pretty civil. Especially compared to places like youtube were reading the comments usually makes me question the state of mankind.

Personally, I must say that even though I consider myself more than able to behave in a gentleman-like manner IRL, my conduct here is much more blunt, childish and indecent, so I don't quite feel I fit the OPs description.

Well, I one puts it that way... :hatsoff:
