I posted here for 2 reasons.

1. Mainly I'm looking for cool scenarios that will work good on my system. There are so many different ones here that its hard to know which ones will be what I want.

I have the gold edition, so PTW scenarios will work, but I don't have conquests so i can't use any of those.

2. The scenarios that came with the gold edition don't all work or are giving me trouble. For instance the Ancient Europe mod seems to not have all the civs it lists properly loaded so when I go to select certain nations an error comes up and it shuts down. Also the name escapes me but the MOD on the world map where you start with Cities depending on your nation, this runs quite slow although my system is fast and should be able to support it fine.

So if you know about these gold edition scenarios let me know what to do.

Thanks for all your patience!

The only mod I've really played is Double Your Pleasure. I recommend it! As for others, just try them out and delete them if you don't like them. I don't have Gold Edition so can't help you there.

Patch it, the PTW patch 1.27f should work (I don't think they have a GE patch but they might.)

I have a couple of suggestions in no particular order.

1. Double Your Pleasure. Awesome. You will no longer hit the Middle Ages at 50 AD, plus you'll have new civs and probably hundreds of new units and techs, and lots of wonders/improvements. A must download.
2. American Civil War. A fun scenario for all editions of civ. I think it's fun for 2 player multiplayer.

Look in the scenario library for more, since most of the ones you just find in the forums are C3C only. A general rule I follow that works most of the time is that if it has a big file size, it's probably good. Big files mean lots of new units, tech icons, leaderheads, and so on.

You may want to check to see if there are any new patches for the Gold Edition. Also, because you have Gold Edition, there may be minor differences from it to the regular combo of Vanilla & PTW. That could be the source of some problems - though a patch would likely fix it.

As far as slow gameplay goes, Civ3 runs great on the minimum system requirements, runs well on the recommended, but takes time to load up a scenario & compute AI moves each turn for one reason: The people here at CivFanatics are just that - Fanatics! What I mean is, the Civ Huge map is 160x160. I myself prefer smaller maps, but yet I'm responding to you now while taking a break from working on a scenario map that's 200x250. Needless to say, those fanatics who think bigger is better have come to find that the max map size allowed is 362x362 (IIRC). Considering many people like 31 Civs, and scenarios start with preplaced cities & units - the load time isn't anything wrong with you or your computer. It's just the fanatics pushing Civ to the limit.

Oh, and go get Conquests. Don't stop to ask why. Don't give excuses. Just get it. It's a vast improvement, not to mention - it will solve these problems.

cool, I have double your pleasure but without most of the graphics it says (as it comes with Gold Edition). So I just need to download the patch?

Also I'm confused about patches for Civ cause theres all these freeking expansions and such. So if anyone knows of the patch I need to fix this let me know.

Also thank you guys so much, this is the coolest forum I've been to. Glad I found a new e-home.

You'd be better off downloading 2.02x from the DyP website. Because of some legal issue or antoher, Firaxis had to severly cripple all the mods that came with PTW. It is an 85mb download.

I personally think that test of time, double your plesure, and the age start ones are pretty much the only ones worth playing, but I have played the mediterranian mod a few times, if you ignore the fact that all the units have the wrong graphic it's okay.
