Tip for an Axeman rush

If you build red cross in a coastal city, then even battleships start with medic I, which even if it seems silly, can on occasions be useful.

hmm. Never built the Red Cross come to think of it. I find it doesn't fit with the other National Wonder combinations. I mean, you have Heroic Epic and West Point, so where would the Red Cross go?

edit: ahh, that's why: I rarely build the hospital, which would explain why the Red Cross is rarely availble for me.

;)

i somewhat beeline to hospitals (somewhat, because so many urgent things can come up) when i see i won't win early.
Hospitals give you health -obivously- and the ability to build the RC. My personnal favourite are marching artilleries, but the medic boats are nice too.

Red Cross comes way too late in the game anyway, and there are better techs to be researching than medicine, which isn't essential really.

Building in a coastal city isn't something I've done though. Sounds like a good idea, but then a coastal city probably won't be building many land units so seems not so useful.

If you have more than one medic in a stack, is the healing cumulative? e.g. You have 10 medics and your stack heals fully every turn?

play continents rather than pangea, and you'll see how useful a navy is!
But now we're far from the axeman rush

About the axerush, i think sisiutil's solution of a medic spear is the best, but it's not always doable (need 2 promotions, if you're not agressive, for a unit that you can only build with BW and hunting = late for the axe rush). If you're agressive or if you know hunting early (starting tech or hut), it's a perfect solution : build a spear first think and go kill a lion/warrior with it.
If you're not in the hunting situation, the warrior is my best guess : i always build some, i always get promotions, so giving one of those the medic job is cool (more so because the first promotion is combat which is always welcome for an early "scout" = worker thief)

Nope, not cumulative. :(

I prefer to have a Spearman in the stack with Combat I/Medic I.
That's a classic! :) For me, anyway. I always say to myself, "and now for the traditional medic spearman...."

i think with all the chariots around the axemen will need a hospital not just a medic

Bring on the mixed stack.

Yeah, I am quite enjoying the Chariot/Axemen/Spearmen clash. It is pretty interesting.
