TNESI: The Glorious Mysteries

If only I was the Norse Empire...

Lets just say there wouldn't BE a Bavaria. ;)

Not as easy as you think, unless you want to leave yourself painfully weak elsewhere.

At this junction, we stand by our Iberian neighbors and by our dedication to peace. We concur with Byzantium on this issue and lend our support to the relaxation of the terms of the treaty to the suggested levels. If there is a problem with shipping, Spain proposes that the offended nations go through Spanish channels to minimize their problems with the Caliphate, as Spain remains on good terms with the Moors.

We also would like to note that the great Empires of Iberia have a defensive alliance. We desire peace and stability in the Mediterranean and frown on anything that breaks that peaceful stability.

We feel we have been misunderstood. All nations on favorable footing with us are allowed through, we simply chose to give a few examples. After a trial period(OOC: However long this turn is) we shall allow larger Merchant Ships through, and once peace graces the waters of the Mediterreanen again, it shall be lifted. But for blood to be shed from ships that pass through our waters, we cannot in good consonce allow that. So let me assuage all of your fears, commerce shall not be halted in anyway, Austria you are allowed in.

And we call upon the Pope to withdraw his comments. We are on good standing with the Catholic League and by the nature of our Defensive pact with Leon we allow ALL members through the Straits, but the Pope's remarks boil the blood of our citizienry.

We thank Byzantium and Leon for their support in this matter, and their suggestions will most likely be implemented after the trial period.

May Allah smile upon you.

We are not satisfied with Andalusian promises of future changes. The Edict of Gibraltar is absolutely unacceptable, and should be repealed in its entirety. Access to the Atlantic is not a bargaining chip.

Yes, I had plans to attack, but those plans had to be shelved for a turn. It looks like Zanzibar just went ahead though.

Well, I could hardly let such an affront to the Sultanate and the Shahdom go unavenged, even for a short time. (In other words, this war is strictly IC; I wouldn't have done it OOC, as IMO it's a bad tactical move on the part of Zanzibar. Unfortunately, I have no better reasonable option.)

We applaud your actions against the heretic Druze. Together, they shall be destroyed.

We thank you for your support, brothers of the Book.

We support the liberation of the Sunni people from the clutches of the vile Drize as well.

Oh yeah...sorry about that killing your guy thing, he is actually alright, umm...how about you can kill my ambassador and call it even, or maybe i will give you some money to his family, just don't declare war. IT is one ambassador, we will pay you money to repay you.

Bring it on!

Well, seeing how the Persians had agreed in advance....

Its a pity the Egyptians do not realise what they are getting themselves into...

Frankly, we do not care for the Pope's opinion on matters such as these. We have stated ours, and we have stated that we remain firmly behind the Andalusian Caliphate in its attempt to arbitrate laws upon its OWN territory (OOC: Please, don't anyone come at me with international waters BS ;)), but we have been kind enough to suggest a moderation of those terms. The Papal States or Holy Austrian Empire, having no colonies abroad, nor any navies worthy of noting, would not be affected by this edict, and Papal reaction merely comes off as the the whining of a child.

Let it be clear, if you continue in your push for war against Andalusia, we will respond in kind with war. Leon is against you and we will no longer tolerate Papal attempts at instigating tensions throughout Europe.

Do not worry about the words coming from the Papacy. Thier power is weak, and soon will be even weaker. We just felt the Andalusians's edict as a predictable step towards some kind of heavy taxation, which would be unacceptable. We do not need wars over taxes. We are glad to see the Byzantines and Andalusians have reached a better compromise than the initial edict.

We assume your position within the Catholic League and your acceptance of the Leonese treaty will remain the same as it was before?

@farow, rightio. I guess we are almost enemies, but with the maneuverings of those around us, we really have no choice but to be allies unless we want to be destroyed ;)

@Alex, Shaddup and do something in your own nation. I thought unifying CHINA was in MING's best interests? :mischief: And pray tell, just how do you think I would go about trying to unify Germany & Italy at the same bloody time? :p

And I'm supposed to care why? :p Point remains the same.

OOC: Bavaria expanding again, eh? I'll get really worried once they start invading the Prague Confederacy. Since, Prague is still a nice meat shield between my North-German posessions, and the Bavarians.

About that... :mischief:

In an interesting turn of events, the Pope has died. Just thought you all might want to know. :p

From: Provence
To: Holy Austrian Empire

Yes, we are withdrawing from Genoa as promised.

The Pope died......does that mean that the powers can manuever to get a pope they support elected?

Because if it is that, i'm wirtting a story

Oh, come on, Andalusia has no power in who gets elected Pope. Maybe Leon could influence things, but likely the Pope would be an Austrian appointee.

Why is everyone so paranoid about Bavaria? I do not even have close to the army or economy I need to unite Germany. I was just taking out the lesser states before they were conquered by the Norse or Swedish.

6 EP a turn is not enough to unite Germany but I did leave Bavaria with the potential to do so.

Cui, Political and Monetary Capital are very useful, especially if you don't know its coming from the Muslims and assume its coming from someone else.
