If we must go to war to be mentioned, then I suppose I will edge closer to the action by claiming Ionia yet again.

Their scared colonists that see arcadia expanding and beating up a country to their south and wonder if arcadia really wants to stretch to the from ocean to ocean.
It wasn't that hard to get the locals on my side.
EDIT: I am glad I managed to snag the spotlight, If i'd made a poor run of things I'm pretty sure Italy would have got it for all the wonderfull intrigue....

Japan was aggressively and unprovoked invaded for no reason by foreign devils in their evil, evil war of conquest and so forth. Some commanders on the frontier may have taken spontaneous patriotic honorable action to defend themselves from the hordes of foreign devils they found milling about the borders looting and defecating in the surrounding countryside like a plague of locust. For this they cannot be blamed for when one see's dirty animals running about your land you naturally must kill them. More spontaneous patriotic actions may occur should current circumstances persist.

The Australian Confederation has done nothing of the sort, an alliance of convenience with the Japanese in the region has occurred due to the Kingdom of Arcadia's unlawful invasion of a sovereign nation destroying the stability of the region and bringing into question Arcadia's future desires in the region.
The Australian Confederation merely responded to the invasion by honouring its obligations to the Republic of New Albion. As shown Bullworth's little support has dried up, and Arcadia's initial reasons for invading the region are moot. This is not a war of aggression, but a defensive war fought to ensure that good free people remain good free people, and are not squashed by the desires of a select few elites in St. George.

Good update, but I wonder why in almost any alternate history NES between 1800 and 1900 Italy just can't remain stable...It must be a curse.

Further let it be noted that as many of half of the population of our Beikokou colony are themselves Christians and live in our territory of their own free will, happily and unmolested. Indeed they have formed militias to fight on our side.

One does not summon the devil to settle a familial dispute. You may claim as you like, but the fact is that you have allied yourself with a nation bent on the killing of Christians under their domain, and now aid them in this task.
