    G.I. Joe was one man, based on a real life Marine who fought on Guadalcanal. What they did to him in the 80s, turning him into a blasted squad was a disgrace.

    GI Joe is just the name of their franchise. The actual characters in the cartoons did not have that name.

    I know, but you missed my point. Back before GI Joe was an anti-terrorist squad, it was one soldier whose name was GI Joe.

    Though he is, in my view, the personification of the US Armed Service. Since there was a GI Joe for all the branches of the armed forces.

    I watch the old skool cartoons, you know, Looney Tunes, GI Joe, and pretty much anything on Boomerang; that's high quality entertainment right there. :goodjob:

    I shudder at the thought of androginous, half-japaneese half-caucasians beying today's models for the young. (emphasis on androginous)

    @JonnyB: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    My favourite cartoon when I was younger was Kimba The White Lion. It was Japanese anime, and was very good. I used to watch it on channel 4 in Pittsburgh. The Lion King is a direct rip-off of Kimba! :mad:

    Other good ones were Bugs Bunny, of course, and Underdog.

    No he talked but he never solved crime, it was him and shaggy that were the comic foils, it was the three way love triangle(at least in my mind) Between Velma, Fred and Daphne that solved the crime.

    OK; Bagpuss, Mr Ben, The original Ghost Busters cartoon, Cities of Gold, Chorlton and the Wheelies, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Mr men, Magic Roundabout, Pugwash, The Moomins, Gummi bears, Stop it and tidyup, The smurfs, Ivor the Engine, Ulysees 2111 or whatever the century was(futuristic version of the Oddysey) Rude dog and the Dweebs, Garfield and friends, Recess, Willo the Whisp, Animaniacs (especially pinky and the brain) Rhubarb and custard, Henry's Cat, Paddington, Trumpton, Dangermouse, Trapdoor, All I can remember for the mo but all classics.

    Modern day heros: man they got nothing on the older ones. :)
