Drill IV
Chieftain
I thought I'd never see the day.
I must be a really evil guy. In addition to the defensive pact I'm on friendly terms with the Germans and the Chinese

The game is rather interesting as far as I am concerned. I play on Prince with everything set to random and shuffle map type initially.
It turned out to be an arid map with high sea level, two big (one of which I started on) and two small adjacent continents and some small islands which are not relevant to me. I am well armed but the Oromo Warriors are obsolete soon and I will have to renovate my forces soon. I recently founded Mining Inc. in a town where I also founded Confucianism earlier. I plan on setting up Wall Street there when I have enough banks.
Culturally I am dominant so that I might have the options to win culturally and by spaceship; should I construct the UN, which is unlikely, I could win diplomatically if De Gaulle continues behaving like an ass towards the others.
I am in a semi-strong position despite only reigning over seven cities, because on my continent there is much gold and I acquired two gold resources early. The game already began with Bronze Working and Agriculture popping from huts which kept me in competition with Kublai, who was similarly lucky judging by his early score. Kublai and De Gaulle are in competition with Tokugawa in terms of population after Kublai clearly being the strongest during the early game.
Apparently, Sitting Bull and Ragnar were extinct by Barbarians very soon after the beginning, which is unusual because there was not much land anyway and I would have expected the Barbs to be weak because of that. Well, the extinction of two countries on the second continent left De Gaulle and William of Orange much land to conquer, but Bill did blow it by engaging in a war with De Gaulle; the French thus vassalized the Dutch.
Cyrus spawned Saladin as a colony and got extinct himself. That's the price of neighboring Japan, I guess
Kublai spawned Qin Shi Huang on the second continent, where De Gaulle and Bill did not expand quickly. De Gaulle is big anyway. Toku takes Frederick as a vassal every now and than; Frederick pursues me closely in the game score ranking but currently I am forth there.
As you might guess, my style is to be quite the peacemonger, but I initially let myself be torn into the war against Cyrus, who was far away so that it held no danger at all. Recently, Charles de Gaulle (and Bill as his vassal) opened a surprise battle on me at the site of my weakest city coming from the sea. I just got that city from the Koreans one or two centuries ago because of cultural dominance. I got Tokugawa to help me against them and did not lose a city. Toku conquered Toulouse, situated on a small island between the two big continents, and we made peace again soon after the DOW.
Enjoy playing the game from here onwards, I am curious which victory you prefer and whether winning will prove to be more difficult than I expect it to become at the moment.
