I read in many articles the industrious trait was toned down. I play Conquests so I am not familiar with what was toned down with the industrious trait. Just curious as what the trait entailed in earlier versions of the game.

Thanx

In Vanilla/PTW, industrious workers are twice as fast at completing tasks than other Civs. I think in C3C industrious workers are only 50% faster.

Thus irrigating in PTW is only 2 turns for industrious. It would be 3 turns for C3C. Mining is 3 turns in PTW, 4 turns in C3C.

I don't have C3C, so correct me if I am wrong on the comparison.

No, you are correct about the twice as fast in Vanilla/PTW and 50% in C3C.

When I first started Vanilla, the first thing I figured out was that Industrious was the best trait by a long shot. I knew very little that turned out to be right except that. I think in C3C it's more balanced. In Vanilla it got so I hated to play any Civ that wasn't Industrious.

The speed of native workers was toned down.

Additionally, in Vanilla slaves are always half as fast as your native workers. For an Industrious civ, slaves work as fast as native workers of comparable non-Industrious civs.

And then there is something about shields produced in the City centers. In Vanilla, Industrious cities (size 7 up) received an additional shield. In C3C this is different.

That's how I feel each GOTM when I see the Civ is not of the industrious variety! :lol:

As far as I'm concerned, Industrious was the best trait in Play the World. If you get your building machine going fast enough, you can surpass your Commerical rivals in wealth, your Science rivals in technology, your Military rivals in force and your Religious rivals in culture.

I was very disappointed then when Industrious was toned down in Conquests.

And yet, despite the fact that Industrious took quite the nerfing in Conquests, I think it remains my favorite trait. It's still great despite being toned down.

Play the World is Vanilla little changes.

Well, only if you consider MDI, airfields, radar towers, the Arabs, Spanish, Ottomans, Celts, Vikings, Mongols, and Koreans 'little'. :lol::D:lol:

P.S. Temujin doesn't like to be called little. He'll be looking for you in your next game . . .

Temujin is a weak pansy. :p

PTW has very little core changes to the game, compared with Conquests.

Temujin = :trouble:

GamezRule = :ar15:

Temujin = :faint:

Moral of the story - don't bring a bat to a gun fight.

:lol: That's about it! :goodjob:
