Posting on a World Landmarks thread made me Wonder, if there was such thing as a Top 5 Cities Screen of the real world, which cities would you expect to see there? In other words, which cities have the most cultural value, either because of exceptional structures and/or by accumulation through time?
    My first guess would be:
    1. Jerusalem
    2. Mecca
    3. New York
    4. Rome
    5. Bangkok

i couldnt really put them into a top 5, but why New York? Rome would definately be up there, along with Jeruselam though...

    i think it should be

    1. Jerusalem - claimed by all three monotheistic religions
    2. Rome - centre of the ancient world
    3. London - centre of the greatest empire of the industrial age
    4. Paris - rival to London, plus je t'aime
    5. New York - the most modern multicultural city on earth

My top 3 would be :

    1- Rome
    2- Jerusalem
    3- Byzance-Constantinople-Istanbul

Then, I don't know ; maybe Beijing, but I don't know much of China ; maybe Paris or London, but have they been cultural centers from long enough ?
New York, sorry, definitely not : plunk a settler in like 1600ad in Civ3, and try to make it one of the cultural centers of the game, tough task !!

Alexandria would be up there, since Civ3 doesn't allow you to raze the Great Library. ;)

The last two may be ties, but either way, they are close.

jeruslam would be top, and then i would have beijing, rome, mexico city (formally the aztec capital, i cant spell it, ti beings a 'T') about even, then im not sure.
as civ has shwon us, it is ancient cities, often large religious centers that have the most culture.
5th might go to babylon, whch as well as the hanging gardens, also was one of themost influencial cities of its time in the knwon world.

Someone could actually work out what Civs top 5 would be, by simply counting up the notional accumulated culture points (it's based on cultural ranking, not size, so Tokyo's size is irrelevant)

If Washington DC makes that list based on culture, then Baltimore, Maryland had better be there. :p

Anyway, it would be an ancient city that HASN'T been captured.

1 - Beijing (or some other Chinese city)
    2 - Rome
3 - Edo/Tokyo (they are the SAME city. Don't know why Firaxis seperated them)
    4 - Dehli
5 - Athens (Or some Persian city)
